1 team outbreak is going to end the season?

The NFL hasn't even begun executing what will be an exhaustive list of options to combat this.

The NFL and NFLPA are now looking into multiple unauthorized workouts involving #Titans players since the facility closed amidst a COVID-19 outbreak – and not just workouts involving skill positions, per sources.

Two more players were confirmed positive today. Review ongoing.

What I find to be the most ridiculous thing in all this is you have the NFL cracking down on coaches and fining teams for that. Then you look behind the coaches and all the players are standing around each other for 4 hours breathing heavily with no masks on. And that's just what we see. Imagine what it looks like at practices and in the locker rooms all week.

It's just all absurd theater at this point. No one should be surprised at how fast it will spread through a team if one or two players contract it. The problem is no matter how often you test players, once a positive is confirmed, they've already probably been shedding virus for a couple days.

Football teams are no different than the general population. It takes 100% buy in to established guidelines to minimize spread. And even then, you can still contract the virus and spread it to others. Minimizing an outbreak to 1 or 2 members of a team/staff outside an extremely strict one-site bubble is mostly a fantasy.

People just letting their own personal fear run the narrative, and are obsessed with the drip drip of positive cases. It's been like this since the first sports starting coming back.

Why would the NFLPA agree to this?

just a hunch but I guess it was a non-starter for the NFL to pay players for not playing. I guess the NFLPA could have held firm but they must have seen it was a sticking point the owners weren't going to budge on. so I assume they decided to agree because they figured being only paid for actual games played beat not playing at all or being paid at all.

Don't know, but it seems the NFLPA already agreed to those rules. Like the article says, the NFL and Goodell could do the Bills a solid and step in so they can receive their "Guaranteed Salary" even though they don't have to.

Whatever it happens, the Titans are about to be made an example of.

I don't think the Bills will get paid, it would set a precedent. Plus not paying the Bills would underscore the seriousness of the situation, if the Bills wanna get mad they should get mad at the Titans.

Yeah I’m fine with the Titans as an organization receiving their punishment (forfeiture, no game checks, etc...) but if the other team tests out OK there’s no reason why they should lose their check too.

He could conceivably earn the job back, but sitting, studying & working with the QB's coach might do him some good.

Note: Ron is the only good thing (plus the defense [at times], McLaurin & Antonio Gibson) in this organization. The man truly is a warrior.

I have a lot of respect for Ron Rivera. To coach while receiving chemo along with COVID risk is no joke. To me, he should bow out and come back next year ready to coach and focus on getting better. However, if he decides to stay, Football Team fans should just give him a mulligan.

If he decides to stay then he should be open to all the criticism or praise that comes with the results for the rest of the season.

I’m human and I definitely empathize with what he’s going through right now. I’ve seen that disease just tear down the strongest of people but if he doesn’t feel up to it (which is fine btw) then he should step aside until he feels up to it.

We’ve (WFT) thrown away a lot of seasons and you might say “hey what’s 1 more” but the fan base around here isn’t happy.

And the game time is reportedly 3:00pm local time in Denver. It is Columbus Day and more than normal may be off but that's pretty tough.

It also puts the Broncos on a short week (albeit a normal short week for playing a Monday night game) while the Patriots have a bye the following week.
