I keep forgetting that he was still in the league lol.
From 2014-2020 he started all of 3 games, making well over 10m in that time in guaranteed money.

Being a backup QB in football is probably the easiest money anyone in sports can ever make.

I wonder what it must feel like to prep for every single game though, knowing you could go in because of injury to the starter, but that time never comes.

Must be a bit mentally exhausting, and perhaps morbid in a way if you hope the guy gets hurt just enough for you to get a shot out there haha. I'm guessing Nate Sudfeld wants that wish back though!

You still get to practice like a real NFL QB, get the same team accommodations, make millions of dollars, and not have to take any game sacks, and save your arm by not making hundreds of extra passes a year. I'm sure the mentally exhausting part is such a small concern compared to how much of a plus all the other things are.

Well of course, I never said I wouldn't mind the trade-off.

I'm just wondering what it feels like to be in that position, knowing there's a chance all you've done may literally never amount to nothing. I mean you get paid, but you may go a whole career never taking snap under center.

We love money, but those guys also love the dream. That would be an interesting story to tell your grandkids.

It's really disappointing that the Eagles/Pederson didn't tell the Giants that, if they wanted to be in the playoffs, the shouldn't have started 1-7...

Or get trounced by Arizona and Cleveland.

The real winner here? Mike McCarthy...if the Eagles leave Hurts in and they defeat WFT, the Bumbling Head Coach Story would have to center on McCarthy refusing/failing to throw a challenge flag late in the game, and thus handing three points (and the victory) to NYG.
              Australian Rules Football...just sayin'

Thoughts on Watson being unhappy the Texans didn't consult with him regarding the hiring of a new GM?

I totally get consulting with the franchise QB for certain roster moves. Like Watson definitely should have been consulted regarding the Hopkins trade, and maybe even consult him regarding coaching hires.

But the GM? Nah bro, sit down and shut up.

I agree. He should be upset that they basically took away his weapons and handicapped their ability to surround him with talent due to the loss of draft picks but a QB helping to pick a GM? Naa man that’s above your head.

Pretty much. I'd be unhappy with the organization if I were him. They don't instill a lot of confidence.
But my man submitted a list of potential GM hires lmao.

Yeah, I can understand him wanting them to at least interview Eric B. But not a GM. I definitely think you should keep communication with your star players and ask for input. But, at the same its their responsibility to hire a good HC and GM. I rather say that I made a mistake thinking I was right, than to make a mistake trying to make someone else happy.

I wouldn't even consider trading him, unless you want to rebuild and want draft capital. Even then, it's something you just don't do or any see happen. You don't trade a young Franchise QB just entering his prime, especially since he is under contract until what 2025. You find a way to make it work.

                          Yeah, people ain't reading.......

They asked my man who he wanted them to interview and then interviewed none of the people he listed. Then he asked to talk to their candidates just to provide them with how the team was feeling about things, as a representative of the team, and that didn't happen either.

This wasn't the prima-donna stuff y'all are making it out to be.

You're def not wrong about trading a franchise QB but the reality is that you're going to suck to with or without Deshaun. I mean, he had a monster year, especially considering they traded away Nuke. 4800yds, 33/7 TD/INT, 112 QB Rating, plus another 400+yds and 3 TDs on the ground. All that and they were still 4-12.

Do you move him knowing you might be able to move into the Top 4 and draft a rookie QB plus stockpile picks that you're really going to need.

Throwing a new GM and new Coach into the mix only complicates things.

                            What a mess!

And this is coming from a WFT fan! We know messes.

I only consider that if you LOVE Fields and/or Wilson as a prospect. Not like, love both. I don't think next year's class will be as good. I do agree they will be bad with or without him. You don't have the cap or draft resources to make this team good in the near future. You're best bet is that with good coaching and development that the team overperforms. Unless the price tag is ridiculous(which it should be for a young QB under contract), I'd see many teams throw in a offer.

It is a mess. Especially when you consider you have a buffer between coach/gm and owner in Easterby. Situations like Houston, Atl, Detroit, are tough situations because you have a guy meddling in the process and has a voice in the owners ear. The best case scenario is to have a Coach and GM to be aligned with the buffer executive.

I didn't see that. One story I read mentioned that "he was told he'd be consulted but wasn't" but I haven't seen anything that says he was asked for names.

Now if we go back several weeks there were stories that he would be consulted in the coach search, and that makes sense.
