    Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion

    I agree with Mayock.

Just looking at the projections of where players are suppose to go, expect a lot of late round starters.

There's a lot of "If he matures, he'll be a steal" players in the 6th/7th/Undrafted area this year.

They could very easily take Datone Jones or Margus Hunt with the 2nd round pick were the scenario in my mock to unfold, but ultimately I kept coming back to their lack of explosiveness in the running game and how that messed with their offensive productivity. Bernard would be a home run hitter. The Steelers 2nd rounder was one of the toughest selections. A lot of talented defenders were still on the board.

              Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion

the running back position is absolutely stacked in this year's draft. the great depth is probably the only reason a guy like eddie lacy is projected to go in the 2nd round.

cuz i have a feeling that lacy is going to be an absolute BEAST in the NFL. anyone who drafts him in the 2nd round is gonna get a serious steal. i think he's going to have a better career than the other bama backs who were drafted higher like mark ingram and trent richardson. we shall see.

The more I think about it, the more I want the Eagles to trade down. SMH. The first time they have a high pick in a loooooooong time and the top of the pool isn't very good.

                    Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion

My first round wish list for the Ravens consists of one of the following players:

                    1. Matt Elam
                    2. Eric Reid
                    3. Tavon Austin
                    4. Manti Te'o

That list, of course, depends partly on what happens with this Flacco contract/cuts/free agency and is also in no particular order, though I feel that Te'o and Austin are both likely to be gone by then and Elam or Reid would be very nice picks.

I know it's been said before, but the more I look at this draft class, the more I'm seeing how it is a very deep class (especially at d-line), just lacking those really big faces (at "skill" positions). I also think Nassib could be a steal for someone at QB in the 2nd round.

Ok where in the world did Sheriff Floyd come from? He was a late first early second not long ago and now Walter Football has him top 3?? How does a player shoot up like that so suddenly without combines or pro days?

I don't think Floyd is that good. The only reason Walter Cheripensky moved him up that high is because Mayock ranked Floyd ahead of Lotulelei.

Elam I like; Reid not so much. Austin I suppose. Te'o = pass. I think they should shore up the NT spot and the FS spot before ILB. I think with the way the league is now if you are running a 3-4 defense the best thing you can do is solidify the Edges, Center Field and the Center of the defense. Get that triangle stout then fill in the rest. I wouldn't mind taking a guy like Kevin Reddick later on at ILB instead of taking Teo at 32. My issue with Reid is from what I've seen of him he's going to have to be more of a box player. I don't think he has the range to play Single High Center field Safety.

as a bears fan i'm going to be severely disappointed if they don't draft an offensive lineman in the 1st or 2nd round this year.

the two teams that were in the super bowl this season had arguably the two best offensive lines in the game. the game in the trenches might be more important than ANYTHING in football and the Bears continually neglect that aspect of their offense year after year it seems.
