Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Also, I don't think there's any way the Panthers double dip on DTs that early in the draft. They need help on the right side of their Offensive Line as well as some secondary help, and we might be looking for a WR to eventually replace Steve Smith. If we double dip, it'd be a DT high in the draft (first or second round) and then another later in the draft. We really need a NT, not another under tackle, especially if we resign Dwan Edwards, or sign Chris Canty in free agency.

Seriously? You think Arizona is going to spend their top two picks on QBs?

As for the Panthers, their defense was amazing down the stretch. The only thing their unit is missing is big bodies in the middle. Carolina could have an elite unit if it added two of the stud defensive tackles in this deep class of them. Once again, I don't think it was that foolish a pick.XBOX Series X Gamer Tag: AlsbronComment

Furthermore, J. Williams from Alabama is a nose. Just to clarify. Hankins would be a massive upgrade at the under as well. Panthers fans should be drooling if they can land that combo of DT's.XBOX Series X Gamer Tag: AlsbronComment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
True, the Redskins took Cousins and Griffin. And it was a good idea, since Griffin takes too many hits with his play style. However, Geno Smith isn't a runner, nor would he have to be in Arizona's offense. Also, Cousins was not a second round pick. That's my issue with that pick. Drating Geno Smith in the first, they could then rely on late round picks (Sean Renfree, Jeff Tuel, etc) or UDFAs for competition.
As for the Panthers, the defense was good towards the end of the year. But they don't know what they have in DJ Campbell, who started at safety at the end of the year. They don't know what they have at CB, because Gamble is likely a cap casualty, and Munnerlyn is a free agent. That leaves the Panthers with James Dockery, Josh Thomas and Josh Norman as their CBs.
We do need DTs, and I'm not saying that we don't. However, if we pick up a NT in the first, we should go OL in the second, not another DT. Or, we could go UT in the first, and get Montori Hughes later in the draft at NT. I just don't like the way you double-dipped back to back picks, not that you double dipped.
Not saying it's a bad mock otherwise, but I don't see those two particular instances happening. Cardinals need a lot more than the QB position shored up to spend 2 high picks on QB. Panthers need more than DT to be playoff contenders.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
As per your first point, refer to the Washington Redskins 2011 draft. They picked Griffin III and Kirk Cousins. For a team like the Cardinals that is only a signal caller away from competing for their division, taking two Quarterbacks wouldn't be the most foolish of choices. You double your odds of getting it right, and you can always trade one later.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
as a bears fan i'm going to be severely disappointed if they don't draft an offensive lineman in the 1st or 2nd round this year.
the two teams that were in the super bowl this season had arguably the two best offensive lines in the game. the game in the trenches might be more important than ANYTHING in football and the Bears continually neglect that aspect of their offense year after year it seems.Comment

Using Chaos Theory to predict the NFL Draft.
Very interesting overall. Some of it seems rather plausible, others (such as Barkley ending up in Green Bay, Seattle, St. Louis, or Cincinnati) are quite random.Comment

Matt Miller @nfldraftscout
Rutgers TE D.C. Jefferson with three bench press reps of 225.
Can this be right? He's 6'6" 255."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Better than doing 3 bench reps without a torn pec, I guess.
For some reason I had a thought the other day that the Cowboys might go WR if Keenan Allen falls. That's not an apparent need pick whatsoever with Dez Bryant and Miles Austin in the fold, but I'm not particularly high on Austin at the moment, and he has a gigantic cap number, so the idea would be they cut him and continue to build around Romo.
Completely random thought, and very unlikely if I were to guess, but strange things happen on draft day.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
I hope Geno slips so the Jets can draft him, hopefully the Cards don't take him, either.
The Jets should look into Jarvis Jones too, he is a beast..
Jets should also look into Tyrann Mathieu and trade Cromartie, a win-win because Mathieu is a really good player, he just needs to get his act straight...

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
I don't think Honey Badger has the size to go up against the bigger WRs consistently. He'd be a great nickel corner (and would probably give Welker nightmares), but I don't know that he'd be able to cover say a Julio Jones, a Vincent Jackson, etc. Of course, if he were playing in the AFC East, he wouldn't have to.
