Kiper and that other ESPN draft guy were all over Sportscenter claiming Teo solidified his place in the first round with his pro day workout.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Was it only 2? I had thought it was at least 3 that had been tipped, but that's just what I thought I remembered from the season.
He's going to need a great defensive line in front of him to be a successful first round pick in the NFL. If he lands with a team that has an average defensive line, it'll be the National Championship Game all over again, every week.
And I agree about him needing some gap-eaters on the line in front of him for him to have any sort of sustained success.
Plus, he doesn't strike me as an every down LB. I can't see him being out there on 3rd downs.Comment

Yeah but come on, it'd be foolish to ignore the off field stuff with Teo and act like people don't wanna see him in that format. He's arguably the most recognizable and intriguing name in this draft now.Comment

I agree with you there, and ESPN obviously knows that too. Though they probably could have come up with a different name for the segment.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
I don't know if his athleticism alone is going to be enough to match up against players like (both) Johnsons, Bryant, Jones, Fitz, Marshall etc. I can see him playing in certain situations, just not every down.--

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
IDK who I want anymore. I think I just want Alec Ogeltree and lets pray he can be a legitimate star for us. We actually need to revolutionize the entire defense. I also dont trust this organization to draft anybody in the secondary. Our track record in that aspect has been abysmal.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
I'm not sure why Deion is stumping so hard for this kid. He is nowhere near the best DB in this draft.
He has value because he's a good return guy.
But he's not in the same class as some of the DBs ahead of him.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Yeah Mathieu isn't the best DB in the draft. And honestly, I don't think he'll be that good of a return guy in the pros. I hope he gets drafted to the right team and flourishes, but the hype certainly needs to simmer down a little.Boston Red Sox

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Disclaimer - I know Combine / Pro Day numbers are by no means everything. Not even close. That said, it can be a reasonable indicator of athleticism, which is one of many valued commodities at the NFL level.
That disclaimer out of the way: (the following is shamelessly stolen from my brother's Facebook and augmented), take your pick between these two athletes:
Linebacker A: 6-1, 243lbs, 4.70 40-yd dash, 33" vertical jump, 9-5 broad jump, DNP in 225 lb bench press
Linebacker B: 6-2, 243lbs, 4.57 40-yd dash, 37" vertical jump, 10-5 broad jump, 28 bench press reps of 225 lbs
SpoilerLinebacker A is Manti Te'o of Notre Dame, who is looking like a first- or second-round draft choice. Linebacker B is LaRoy Reynolds of Virginia, who will be lucky to be drafted but should undoubtedly get a look as a priority rookie free agent with a 4-3 front team after his strong pro day (he wasn't invited to the NFL Combine).
My point with all this is that I'm in the Te'o doubter camp with most everyone else on this board, it appears.Last edited by Hooe; 03-28-2013, 11:20 AM.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
I think as far as potential goes if someone grabs him mid to late third round he's a value pick. Due to some of the hype surrounding him I think there may be some teams pressured to reach for him in the late second. Mike Tomlin seemed to spend a lot of time talking to him at LSU's Pro Day.
I'm hoping the Saints don't end up singing Porter or Nhamdi and grab him in the 3rd if he's still around. I certainly wouldn't be upset.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
who do you guys have going first between Tavon Austin or Cordarrell Patterson? I think Austin would go first.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
They can both stretch the field, but match-up wise, Patterson is who you want for the more physical corners/safeties.--
