    Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion

I'd be terrified to draft Mingo as anything more than a pass rushing specialist. He's far too light/weak to do anything other than that. And he doesn't use his hands particularly well when trying to get to the QB.

Not a fan of Mingo. He could become another Freak, or he could become another Maybin.

Those are only measurables and Mingo seems to have a much higher motor while Gholston had more strength.

The Jets need a 3-4 OLB that can play with one hand down but also drop back into coverage. Mingo, right now, is strictly an edge rusher. I'm concerned if he can do more than just that. Jordan is 6'6 and can do both.

People always want to make comparisons, but he's no Von Miller. At least IMO.
Dion Jordan is pretty thin too.

I guess I was thinking Goldston was super jacked thus couldn't move very well.

The only other notable QB in the 2009 NFL Draft available at R1-P5 (i.e. QBs not named Matt Stafford, who was R1-P1) was Josh Freeman, the consensus third-best passer in the class as he was seen as incredibly raw whereas Sanchez was more pro-ready.
I was making fun of then drafting Sanchez so highly and now five years later they're callong for his head; a joke man.

Any chance the Jets package #9 and #13 to move up into the top 5?

Maybe but I wouldn't do it, not anyone worth it imo in this draft as I don't see much of a drop off talent wise in the top 16 or so really

Considering how many holes they have, that would be extremely stupid.

                No chance.

May trade the 13th to move down.

So I see Schefter reporting there is talk the Browns may look to trade UP for Mingo?

I think I'm going to lose any confidence I have in this new Front Office if that happens, I want Tom Heckert back .

To clarify I'm by no means anti-Mingo, I'm fine if they want to take him at 6 even (depending on who else is already gone) but I think moving up for him (when we don't have a second round pick already) seems insane.

There also seems to be speculation the Browns are looking to trade a late round pick to the Dolphins for Davone Bess.

So not sure if it has been discussed in here since I'm jumping into the fray late but the NFL Network and ESPN aren't going to be showing the draftees on camera before they're announced and they won't have their analysts tweeting them out early either, I like that a lot, I miss the old days of actually being surprised by picks.

Other people will still be tweeting out the picks but no one from either network televising it is.

The anger I would harbor in my heart would be close to when the Browns traded up for Brady Quinn.

That would be one of the dumbest things the Browns have done in quite some time.

For everyone that thought my pick of EJ Manuel to the Cardinals was nuts, he tweeted that the Eagles were very interested him picking him. Don't know if that means first-round, but the interest is obviously there.

The Jets aren't taking Barkley. Ever. Even in the 8th round.

Niners trade their 31st and 34th for Rams 16th to get Vaccaro? Is that fair?

If you go by the draft value chart it is. Picks 31 and 34 have a combined value of 1,160 while pick 16 has a value of 1,000. Going by the chart if the Niners were to package picks 31 and 34 they could move up as high as pick 12 (1,200) or 13 (1,150).
