Draftcountdown.com is always my go-to site, but they haven't updated their mock draft since March 22nd, any idea why?

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
I'm pretty much fine with any of the logical choices i've seen people having the Saints take.
Mingo or Jones would be fantastic imo(I prefer Jones). Carradine is also probably another name to watch as he worked out well coming off his knee injury. Trading up/down for an OT would be acceptable too, as long as they don't sit there and take Vacarro if no pass rusher or OT is there.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
I see a lot of mocks and analysts saying both Warmack and Cooper are off the board by picks 10-12... I don't buy it.
DeCastro was a sure-thing, 10-year Pro Bowler, consensus top 10/15 pick to these analysts last year and he fell to 24. Last time a guard went top 10: 1997. Last time 2 went top 10: 1988. I've commented on this elsewhere but I feel it bears repeating in here because I just don't see it happening. But who knows, maybe this is the year of the guard...Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
I saw an ESPN ad today for their draft coverage. It was hyping up Alabama CB DeMarcus Millner as "the next Darrelle Revis".
Is that assessment even close to accurate? Everything I've read is that Millner, though the top CB in this class, isn't regarded as being as high of a prospect as Morris Claiborne was last year (and I certainly don't recall Claiborne being advertised as "the next Darrelle Revis" either, I'm not fooling myself here).
Am I completely wrong on Millner, or is this just ESPN effusively hyping up a particular guy in a fashion I should pretty much expect from them by now?Comment

Milliner is a good prospect but I don't think he's quite that talented. They're just trying to drive up the ratings I'm sure.Comment

The 2012 class was MUCH stronger than the 2013 one. That accounts for the difference. In this class, these teams may take a sure fire Pro Bowler wherever they can get one, regardless of position.XBOX Series X Gamer Tag: AlsbronComment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Under the new CBA though, it's more than worth it to take the gamble since there are no more JaMarcus Russell/Sam Bradford-level contracts being handed out to top picks. If the possibility is there to get a franchise QB for your team for the next decade then you have to take it.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Hey guys,
I don't know if this is the right place or not to post a first fifteen first-round mock; I'm new here! If we haven't been acquainted, just call me Khalifa. I know some people are wondering "who cares what he has to say, he's new," and I agree -- you don't have to continue. However, let this be my introductory post and hopefully we all have a blast! Feel free to leave comments!!
Chiefs: Luke Joeckel, Tackle. A&M
Joeckel (sp?) is, in my mind, a lock for the #1 pick. Strong, mobile, and smart, he will instantly be a viable option to protect new QB Alex Smith. Will also assist in the run game. A franchise LT in the mold of Joe Thomas and Jake Long.
Jaguars: Dion Jordan, OLB/DE. Oregon
I know it might be a little high, but Jordan is a speedy, smart player who will excel in the right system. I know people are calling for Geno Smith, Shariff Floyd, even Dee Milliner here; however, the Jags have had a woeful DL for far too long -- picking Jordan would really bolster the unit and should set the tone for the rest of the draft -- I see the Jags going DL early and often.
Vikings: Dee Milliner, CB. Bama
The Vikings trade up with the Raiders and select Dee Milliner . They give up their 23rd and 25th overall picks in the first round while giving up a few other picks. Vikings get a guy who has experience in man coverage and is lightning quick, replacing franchise mainstay Antoine Winfield. This also prevents the Lions from selecting Milliner, who they are reported to be high on.
Eagles: Sharrif Floyd, DT. Florida
Eagles need help on the defensive line as the Jaguars do, and address it with this pick. Floyd is a versatile player who would excel in the three-point, lining up on the outside shoulder of a guard and penetrating. Very exciting possibility of rebuilding the defense around him and Trent Cole.
Lions: Eric Fisher, OT. CMU
I know the Lions recently got Riley Reiff, but this would solidify both tackle positions for years to come, not to mention keeping Stafford off his back. Fisher is an exciting prospect and I debated on swapping him and Joeckel, but Fisher has to go to the Lions, a homestate hero.
Panthers: Ziggy Ansah, DE. BYU
Carolina sends their first (14) and second (12), and fourth (12) round picks to Cleveland in exchange for their 6th overall pick and Ahytaba Rubin. Panthers gain a strong defensive tackle who the Browns had been looking to unload, and acquire the electrifying, scarily talented Ansah. Ansah and Rubin would bolster the defensive line immediately for a team who has been hurting since the departure of Julius Peppers.
Cardinals: Jarvis Jones, OLB. Georgia
What are the Cardinals going to run in 2013? A 4-3? 3-4? This is a team without a defensive identity as Ray Horton bounced to Cleveland. Jones was most effective as a 4-3 pass rusher @ Georgia; he would be killer in passing downs in either scheme. Jones would give a new identity to the defensive unit and will prove his doubters wrong as he excels in Arizona.
Bills: Geno Smith, QB. WVU
This is a gamble at eight; the Bills have other needs -- however, QB should be the top priority. They have no capable starting quarterback and with Smith available, they would be stupid to not draft him -- there's no guarantee Barkley or Nassib will be available in the second round, so this is a safety net for them.
Jets: Tavon Austin, ATH. WVU
Austin follows his buddy Geno in the draft as he gets nabbed by the Jets. New York is always looking to add a sexy offensive weapon, and Austin certainly fills the description. A threat to score whenever he touches the ball, we can expect Santonio Holmes to silence his complaints after seeing what the new kid can do. He will not save this offense, but he will help it.
Titans: Barkevious Mingo, DE. LSU
Kamerion Wimbley is getting old and Derrick Morgan needs a compliment on the other side. Mingo is a fast, disruptive player who will fit in perfectly with the team. Being a hybrid DE/OLB in this defense won't hurt, either.
Chargers: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR. Vols
Philip Rivers needs help. After Vincent Jackson left, Danario Alexander was the only real, viable receiving threat outside of the aging Antonio Gates. Patterson will instantly help the squad and become a force for Rivers, who loves to air it out.
Dolphins: Desmond Trufant, CB. Washington
Brent Grimes was just inked to a deal, but it's a shorter contract and he's aging. Trufant will be groomed to take over when Grimes leaves, and will become a team leader for the Dolphins with his high motor and ability. Dolphins could also go with Xavier Rhodes, but Trufant has more ability and is too good to pass up.
Jets: Matt Barkley, QB. USC
Barkley is the pick, as the Jets LOVE to reach on USC QBs. Barkley will compete with Sanchez immediately for the starting spot should he still be there when camp opens. It's very possible that Sanchez may be shipped out and Barkley becomes the franchise QB. I can't see Barkley panning out, but I know the Jets need a QB and will look to fill that need here.
Browns: Chance Warmack, G. Bama
Warmack comes to the Browns because he is the safest option in the draft. His great size and strength will really help solidify an offensive line consisting of Joe Thomas, Shaun Luavo, Alex Mack, Warmack, and Mitchell Schwartz. Paving holes for his old teammate Trent Richardson, Warmack is going to be a staple on the Browns offensive line for years to come. Cleveland trades down with the intention of acquiring Warmack, and also to get back into the second round as they forfeited their pick with Josh Gordon in the supp. draft.
49ers: Kenny Vaccaro, FS. Texas
New Orleans decides to trade down with the Niners, who send their 1st (31), 2nd (2) and 3rd (31) round picks to the Saints in exchange for the 15th overall pick. San Fran selects Kenny Vaccaro from Texas in an attempt to replace DaShon Goldson. Vaccaro has a variety of defensive talents and will contribute immediately in the Niners' system.Comment

The Vikings aren't giving up both of their first round picks, and they sure won't be moving all the way up to the three spot.--

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
If the Browns use another 1st round pick on an offensive lineman, I will hurt some thing or someone.
They have one of the better O-lines in the NFL. The only holes they have are at guard, and that is easy to find in the later rounds. I swear, if Lombardi is dumb enough to waste a first rounder on a guard...ugh. UGH.Too Old To Game Club

Further, I'm not sure that Sanchez was a reach at the time. The only other notable QB in the 2009 NFL Draft available at R1-P5 (i.e. QBs not named Matt Stafford, who was R1-P1) was Josh Freeman, the consensus third-best passer in the class as he was seen as incredibly raw whereas Sanchez was more pro-ready.Comment
