    Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion

This is me wondering what Mayock sees in Landry Jones, because that ranking is much higher than I've seen him elsewhere.

Wow Khaseem must have shown pretty good at the combine to be ranked that high at OLB. I had no idea he was rated that high as a prospect.

          Take Tyrann in what round?

          The kid is 5'8.

            5'9!
2nd round/3rd round after his combine performance. The height is what it is but at this point he can't be any worse then what Patriots have at CB.

              Oh yes he could.

And I feel sorry for a team reaching for him in the 2nd over other proven CBs.

Disappointed that Ogletree is projecting so high. Oh well we can always draft another soft corner at 19.

I think Ozzie will do what he always does and watch the board. If there is a great deal of talent still on the board at 32, I think we will trade back into the top 7 of round 2 and get one of our guys there and pick up an extra pick that he can use to move up and down the board.

Also Bmore Irish. I'm not a Reid fan at FS. I'm an Elam fan though. I've seen Elam in person twice. And from the tape I've seen, classic Ravens style player. Plays fast, physical, knows how to locate the football and just makes plays. 5'10 we don't care.

I like Mayock. I gotta think he's rating these guys based on the hype they are receiving and not based on how he thinks they are actually graded.
That said, aint no way in hell I'd take Margus Hunt prior to Datone Jones. Not based on tape. Not based on Senior Bowl performance. Combine will not change my mind on that and Jones had a good combine too. Hunt might end up being a beast, but I wouldn't take him before Jones. I'd take Hunt at 64 or in the 3rd. I just cannot see him as 2nd best 3-4 DE.

Agreed to an extent. I think it is all about what people are looking for. Saw him in person twice. His athleticism is great. If I'm looking for a tough and rugged front seven player though, I'm looking elsewhere. I don't think anyone in the Georgia front seven is stout at the point of attack in the run game. Could have been their scheme, not for sure. From what I saw all year last year with them though, they got hammered just about every game.

It really depends on the team that he goes on. I could see him being a beast on a team like the Giants, but he doesn't seem to be a great fit for a team like the Ravens.

In other news, what do you guys think of Chance Warmack? A lot of scouts are concerned about the lack of athleticism that he displayed at the combine, but personally, I wouldn't be too concerned about that. I want a guard that is going to line up for 3 straight downs and maul the guy in front of him. I'm confident that there's no other player in this draft that does that job as well as Warmack. What I saw at the combine really didn't go against anything that I saw on his tape. He's not an agile guard who is going to be running ahead of your running back down the field, but he clears the lane better than any guard in this draft. I still have him as one of my top 5 players, and if anything, in my opinion, his stock is rising.

UNI WR Terrell Sinkfield ran a 4.19 40 at Minnesota's Pro Day.

So what about Kenny Vacarro(sp?) screams 1st rounder Safety as i've seen several mocks that have the Saints taking him(probably due to pass rushers not available).

If the Saints miss out on Ansah, Jones, Mingo, or Jordan i'd like to just trade back to see if we can get a 2nd rounder if possible.

Nothing about him is too special. Mentally, he's the most solid safety in the draft. He covers space well, and is very good in run support. He needs to work on his deep ball coverage, I've seen him give up some stuff behind him, but underneath he's solid. I don't think that the safeties are particularly special this year in general. The Saints would be much better off going after an edge rusher. There's Mingo, Werner, Jordan, Ansah, Jones, Moore, and Hunt. I highly doubt that all of those players will be gone by the time NO picks, so they should be able to secure one of those players.
