Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Overall, I like most of these teams picks. The only ones I really don't get are Dallas, Cincinnati, Chicago, and San Francisco.Tennessee Volunteers

One of my friends (Florida fan) is making fun of Tyrann Mathieu not getting drafted today. Said he won't get drafted at all.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 04-25-2013, 11:11 PM.Boston Red Sox

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Your stars (irreplaceable players) were all 1st/2nd round picks. Rodgers, Raji, Matthews, AJ Hawk (for awhile), Jordy Nelson.
Bill Barnwell wrote about this earlier in the week:
"I think it's clear the league as a whole can do a decent job of sifting through the draft pool and separating guys into relative tiers; in other words, that they can differentiate between a guy worthy of a first-round pick, one better suited for the fourth round, and a future undrafted free agent who isn't worth the time. There will always be exceptions, but as Kevin Meers's research on the NFL draft shows, the average value produced by a player from a given round drops with each passing set of selections."
It made alot more sense before the rookie wage scale to trade back because rookie salaries were out of hand and if you missed, it really set your team back. Now that salaries are under control, It makes much less sense to trade a solid dollar for 3 quarters, 2 dimes and a nickel.
Those articles still don't prove how trading down is "overrated" as you say. Really, all they're both saying is that teams need to be smarter with their draft picks.#RespectTheCultureComment

I think Cincinnati got a good player with Eifert, can't really knock them as it looks like they probably went BPA by their board.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

AJ Hawk and Jordy Nelson were never "irreplaceable players". You also left out a few other "important players" as well.

The overrated part was my opinion. The articles were to prove that most mid round draft picks aren't as good as we think they are. The vast majority of them don't pan out. I'm saying that because the vast majority of mid-round picks don't pan out, or at least don't produce a game changing talent, trading down is overrated.Last edited by dsallupinyaarea; 04-25-2013, 11:45 PM.NFL - Vikings

The data would suggest that it doesn't happen nearly as much as we think it does. Agree to disagree though.NFL - Vikings
