Some of these moves are really strange. Why would you trade away your best receiver on an offense that’s been struggling?? And only got a 3rd round pick out of it too?

Well. Your best WR on an offense that's struggling means what exactly?

Please Lord, let this be true.

EDIT: Schefter confirmed the trade wasn't allowed because the Browns reported it too late. Bengals were on time.

OMG! If that's true then the entire front office should be fired. That's just too funny.

Not sure what you’re getting at here. They just got worse offensively. Benjamin was the only 1000 yard receiving threat they have on the roster outside of Olsen who is still injured.

This is just a ridiculous trade. Hurney is at it again.. gonna undo all of the work that Gettleman did to make this roster actually work.

                2017 Transaction Thread

With the Jimmy G trade coming down yesterday, some surprising news came down about Brady. A guy from NBCSN reported that Kraft wanted to trade Jimmy G, and that Brady felt there was a chance that Bill would trade him this offseason and roll forward with Jimmy G.

If the offense is already bad, then what are you really losing if you lose your best WR? (I'd argue that Olsen is actually the best WR on that team).

Not an official transaction, but I saw that the Eagles are also trying to get Calvin Johnson to come out of retirement.

So you wanna make it worse? I mean if you’re in rebuilding mode then sure go ahead. But the Panthers have an MVP at QB and are trying to win a Super Bowl this season. Benjamin is a good player and I think their issues are deeper than just him not playing well or whatever it is that’s going on over there.

And Olsen is their best receiver I think, I meant WR’s though.

Granted, the offense looked great in 2015 without Benjamin but that's because our rush offense was incredible. I felt like Cam was forcing the ball to Benjamin last year to pacify him rather than just finding the open guy in 2016. So if we traded him in the off-season, I could understand it somewhat.

This year though - it doesn't make sense. Our rush offense is horrible, Olson is down and Ted Ginn is elsewhere. So we have who? Funchess who is still unreliable, Ed Dickson and a rookie RB to catch passes?

                        Yup. Ok.

Oh I know, I just wanted to make sure everything is out there. I feel bad for any Panthers fans out there. This is just troubling and baffling on a lot of levels.

Interesting, that wouldn't surprise me. Maybe Kraft may have whispered in Belichick's ear not to do that or something. Either way, I can definitely see something like that happening to Brady within the next couple years. BB seems to get rid of guys a year early.

I believe he is still under contract so would have had to have had his rights traded so it's too late for this year.

Yea that’s the implication, Kraft made the final call on the QB situation. He wasn’t going to allow Bill trade to TB and wasn’t going to allow Bill to franchise Jimmy. And Jimmy was not interested in a bridge deal. Bill was in love with Jimmy G. You could hear during his press conference earlier today. It wasn’t one of those press releases that was one paragraph wishing the player well in his future endeavors. He went on about he spent every day working with him and was just very positive. As I said on Twitter when I saw the post, it was probably the most positive I’ve heard Bill talk about a player he just shipped off.

Yeah I don't know what's going on. I guess they want to give Russell Shepard more PT or maybe even Kaelin Clay.

This organization is a joke though. You fire the most successful GM the team has had in a decade, bring back the guy that put you in cap hell in the first place, then trade away one of your few offensive threats when the offense has been a big pile of **** for 6 of the 8 games.

Maybe this sparks the offense, but with Cam's emotional swings, I have a feeling he's going to collapse and the season will be completely dependent on the defense; moreso than it already is.
