    I disagree.

Mushin Muhammad doesn't get near enough credit. He had over 8,000 receptions and 10,000 yards for his career. Those are HOF numbers for a higher profile player and he was still a solid receiver at the time of his retirement. I remember when Keyshawn replaced him that one year and the passing game was off. Muhammad was an excellent route runner and alot tougher than Keyshawn was. He was also a phenomenal blocker at WR.

I do think WR is the positon to look at in the draft however...ONLY if it's AJ Green. Julio Jones doesn't impress me at all as a NFL player.

As far as QB goes, I wouldn't mind seeing if Clausen is the guy for another year. I also wouldn't mind if we picked up Vince Young or Kevin Kolb. If we do get another QB, I would like a proven guy over a rookie.

Defensive line is our most pressing issue though. I didn't understand why the FO didn't make another signing on the line after Peppers left. They could've used that money on two or three solid defensive FA's.

I was talking about the years Moose wasn't there. When he came back, it was pretty much after the fact at that point.

        Re: Rebuilding The Carolina Panthers

Carolina needs to start over again. I could see Clausen ending up in Buffalo or KC. Fitzpatrick should be given another year, as should Cassel. If they don't show they have what it takes long term then Clausen could be the solution there. So I don't see him being in Carolina for the long term.

I think they need to bring in Harbaugh and Luck, maybe change the offense up a bit, trade Stewart, and get some picks in (Patriots style). Smith still has some left in him, and those guys need another year at least.

If not Luck, get Kolb. He can be a starter IMO.

The Panthers should go in full rebuild mode. If they get the #1 pick hold a fire-sale and trade away to get as many picks as possible. I like the idea of trading Stewart, the Pats might be a good target if they don't go with a rookie like Ingram.

One big question they need to figure out is if Clausen is to be developed on the bench or on the field. Or if he's even worth it.

Jimmy Clausen looks very lost and confused with the Panthers offense, but I do not think it is entirely his fault - as every QB that played in Jeff Davidson's system didn't exactly look good. Matt Moore, the apparent heir to Jake Delhomme, struggled early. We did have a lead on the Giants going into halftime in Week 1, but then we fell apart. Moore's passing accuracy is a little off, and he threw the interceptions or misfired just like Jake. Delhomme's problem wasn't his accuracy, he just made terrible decisions and his ability to read defenses diminished (I guess with age).

Anyway, about Clausen looking lost - I said the same thing about Mark Sanchez last year. I live in New Jersey and would see the local games, and Sanchez looked like just a filler. Now, look at him this year doing 4th quarter come backs, keeping his composure. He might have it good with the Jets because of his supporting cast (Braylon Edwards, Santonio Holmes, LaDainian Tomlinson, Shonn Greene, Dustin Keller, the offensive line). But, Carolina has a similar cast also (Steve Smith, two running backs that ran for 1,000 yards last season, a good offensive line with 2 Pro Bowlers) - But the cast should not be the case. Sanchez is like a maestro and the cast is his orchestra, you can't plug anyway else behind center because the offense is built for him in New York. Chemistry is the key word, and that is what Jake Delhomme had in Carolina.

One of the main problems I have with Jimmy Clausen is his leadership - he wont be that leader Jake Delhomme was. I honestly do not know who the Leader is on the offensive side of the ball. Steve Smith? Absolutely not, the guy has a temper problem. Jordan Gross or Ryan Kalil maybe, but lineman seem to have a laid back personality. So Carolina needs that team Leader. It would have been Brad Hoover or Muhsin Muhammad had they stayed.

Vince Young: Although I like this idea, he is very immature and will cause problems for the Panthers. He has no leadership.

Quarterbacks that can help with Clausen's development, might sound far-fetched:
Brady Quinn- Notre Dame Quarterback, ran the same system as Jimmy Clausen in college, and also has NFL Experience. Brady Quinn isn't a good QB, but neither was Rodney Peete. Quinn can help Clausen with the NFL transition.

Jake Delhomme- The Browns look to have found their QB in Colt McCoy, so if Jake's services aren't needed in Cleveland anymore, they should bring him back. Jake will be a supporter no matter what, even if he is holding a clipboard.

Mark Brunell- he is getting old, but he is definately a string in the thread for Mark Sanchez's development with the Jets. Brunell is a protege of Brett Favre. Jason Campbell said that Mark Brunell was a big influence on his career as a quarterback during his tenure in Washington.

Sorry for the long thread, but I love my Carolina Panthers.

If they get a top pick they should draft one of the top QBs. I've always been a Clausen supporter but he doesn't have the same type of ceiling as these guys coming out of college next year.

A new day, another way to lose. I thought a W would be on its way after the 14-3 halftime lead, but boy was I wrong!

                  Goodbye John Fox.

Hopefully, Richardson will put the foot down on Hurney and get him out too.

I've been thinking about this as well. I originally thought New England, but I don't know if they need to bring in anyone with the way their offense is playing right now. I could see Oakland being interested because Al Davis is crazy, maybe Cleveland to give McCoy a true #1 receiver to pair with Massaquoi, Kellen Jr., and Peyton Hillis. That would be a pretty good offense. Possibly St. Louis as well

Since we are in a complete re-build mode now, I'd like to see CAR trade Smith and give him a chance to play for a winning team. Maybe we could atleast get back a decent draft pick(s).

I'd think maybe Indy, maybe Denver need recievers off the top of my head.

I dunno, haven't heard a lot. I'm sure we will after the season.

                            Clausen is terrible.

                            The real question is:

Will the Panthers keep the #1 overall draft pick? Jerry Richardson has not brought in a single free agent in two years. He wants to make money, not win. It is evident.

I am going out on a limb and saying the Panthers trade the #1 pick for a lower first round pick and sound mid round picks.

I would agree the biggest return on Smith would be this year as he is still considered as being in his prime.

I vastly hope Hurney will be fired as GM.

I'd have to agree with NDAlum. Hurney as a GM is not without fault, but Jerry Richardson is the one who isn't willing to spend money to build a winner.

I see them trading that No. 1 overall draft pick as well, b/c I cannot see Richardson paying the contract of an Andrew Luck for example. I think he trades down into the 7-15 area and also gets a 2nd or 3rd this year and more picks next year.

It's unfortunate too. When your owner isn't completely dedicated to winning, it takes a lot of starch out of you as a fan.
