Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Hillman is a completely different back than Ball and Moreno which would place him in the "situational/change of pace" category IMO. I hope Ball does become the 3 down back stud that Denver has been missing, and he has the best chance of fitting into the new/old Gibbs' zone blocking scheme because of his quick first step (as opposed to Morneo). Although, Hillman is their "home run hitter" that could also benefit from Gibbs. I also believe that Ball will rush for over 1000 yards this season just because of Gibbs and their offensive line depth.
It is just nice to know that Denver has players in their backfield with different strengths. Their offense will give opposing defenses nightmares this season. A stout running game would be huge.Last edited by TRC; 06-27-2013, 07:57 PM.Comment

Guys, Jonathan Stewart is an outlier and even he didn't reach the 1,000 yard mark.Comment

Deangelo Williams would be the only argument to make and at that time Foster had peaked and Williams was drafted because of the worries about Foster and Carolina was a running team.
There's a good possibility that if healthy Ball could average 15 carries a game, that's 240 for a season. That's barely 4 ypc to get to 1000.
I would rather use a Peyton Manning led offense as an example which brings me back to Joseph Addai, who was not a steller runner by any means.Comment

The guy that wrote the article was just looking for something to write about.Using Shelton,Goodson and Hillman doesn't make sense for various reasons.Foster was coming off of an injury and his career reminds me of Knowshon's because it was one with promise and he was pretty good but you always had to have a backup plan because of constant injury concerns.

Notice never once was there a mention of anyone else on the Fox offenses referenced.
If Jake Delhomme were the QB in Denver this year, I would certainly be more cautious and if that were the case I guarantee McGahee would never have been released.
Good thing that's not the case and we can talk about real football instead of fantasy implications.Comment

There are not really any holes in your argument. It is a valid prediction that Ball could go for 1,000.
But it's also foreseeable that Fox could shy away from using him because he is a rookie. Fox has played less talented players in the past at many positions and this is well documented.
I'm not saying you guys are wrong. But my prediction isn't just out of thin air. It is based on past events. But that's why they are predictions. No one knows for sure. We shall see.XBOX Series X Gamer Tag: AlsbronComment

But you still have yet to answer my question. I get it's your prediction which is perfectly fine but do you really not see a difference between the offenses he previously had with rookie running backs and this one?
That's really the only question I've asked you.Comment

I understand your point. In fact, I even mentioned it in my original post. The only difference is I feel playing alongside Peyton Manning is a negative implication for Ball's potential productivity. Whereas you feel it is a positive.XBOX Series X Gamer Tag: AlsbronComment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
You keep harping on Fox's past with rookie runningbacks. I'm trying to argue that running a pass heavy offense (which you stated) is far different than any offense he's ever had in the past with a rookie RB.
He's had offenses that relied heavily on the run, this is a completely different scenario than any he's ever been in.
Do you not see that difference?Comment

Yes. There is a difference. You're right. But when considering my prediction about Ball, I didn't consider that a determining factor because I thought a pass happy attack actually made Ball less likely to put up numbers. Both because of volume of touches and adjustment to pass protection. Still didn't think Fox would play him much.XBOX Series X Gamer Tag: AlsbronComment

Thanks for the input, I could care less about his fantasy stats though.Comment

No, I only posted that article to validate the point I was making that Fox doesn't really lean on rookie RB's. that tendency was a factor in my "low" projections for Montee and I thought Fox's mistrust of rookie runners was relevant to the discussion.
To clarify, never expressly mentioned by me.XBOX Series X Gamer Tag: AlsbronComment
