I like the Fox signing I just hope he can get this team turned around. I hope he tries to bring back Champ and drafts primarily defense in the draft.

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
While I think Fox will have some say in player personel I doubt he will make a difference in the players that are signed, re-signed or drafted at this point.
I think the front office will be making most of those decisions now. Fox (and I like him too) is being brough in as a "yes man" coach.
His job will be to bring together the team that is assembled and get them motivated to compete now.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Watched his interview, seems like a nice guy who's not all about smoke and mirrors.
Cliff notes:
-Tim Tebow impressed him, met him yesterday and thinks he's one of the best athletes he's ever seen. Never mentioned Orton in any of that about it being a competition for the QB spot
-No set defense yet as the staff is being assembled. Sounded like he thinks 3-4 or 4-3 will be just fine (said he's not that hung up on it). Wants the defense to be disruptive, allowing the offense to do what he calls a layup; short field position for the offense to use to put up points. Sees that the defense needs scheme changes in order to cause turnovers.
-Wants the staff to feel like they are working with him and not for him. Everyone can voice opinions
-He's looking to keep some coaches on staff still. Sounds like he really likes McCoy still. Wants to make the offense balanced (stressed this again later on). Mentioned the difference of passing and running game here as a reason to become more balanced.
-Thinks Tebows intangibles will accelerate him to becoming a "quarterback". Wasn't "wowed" but very impressed with him.
-Player reputation (Fairley, Auburn named) was asked how much of a role that would be on drafting them. Said its a fine line and that the sport is combative, young players make mistakes.
-Looks at the fans as partners. Found that interesting considering McDaniels never really took that into consideration, even after he was fired, he never thanked the fans.
-Kyle Orton question, says he's smart and good with the ball. Has some of the tools to be a good quarterback. Alot of respect for what he's done
-Thinks the lines aren't "starting from ground zero"Last edited by av7; 01-14-2011, 02:38 PM.Aaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Immediate reaction was "they hired the coach from the worst team in the NFL?"
After I settled down I did realize after this past season he still has a winning record. And it was also the NFC South. One of the strongest divisions in the league. Much stronger than AFC West, IMO. I put a lot of weight into divisional play. It's killed the Broncs recentlyComment

McCoy is staying in Denver, atleast that gives the offense a familiar game plan instead of wiping completely clean; sorry defense, its going to happen again. Monday we'll get to see who is coming/going, should be interestingAaron

07 - Bates* Not sure how much he helped in '07 with being an assistant head coach
08 - Slowik
09 - Nolan
10 - Martindale
11 - ?
6th change, its old now. Nolan would've been great to still have. Bob Slowik's stench still hasn't washed offLast edited by av7; 01-16-2011, 12:51 AM.Aaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
6 guys from McDaniel's era is staying on staff.
As previously reported in The Denver Post, Mike McCoy returns as offensive coordinator, one of six coaches from Josh McDaniels' staff to keep jobs here in Denver.
The others are running backs coach Eric Studesville, defensive line coach Wayne Nunnely, Clancy Barone, who moves from offensive line to tight ends, and quality control assistants Jay Rodgers and Brian Callahan.
The team also confirmed that wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert and offensive line coach Dave Magazu have joined Fox's staff in the same roles they held on Fox's previous staff at Carolina.Aaron

AFC Championship game, Tim Tebow would be playing on two bloody stumps. If a QB can be standing on the sideline watching, he can gut out this opportunity. Reason #500 why I prefer Tim Tebow to Jay Cutler.Comment

Brandon Lloyd was very good for the offense this year
Highlighting his breakout season that will culminate in the Pro Bowl on Sunday, Denver Broncos receiver Brandon Lloyd, 29, had the highest percentage of first downs on his catches in the NFL in the past 10 years.
93%, 72 first downs on 77 catchesAaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
He tore his MCL. I hate Jay Cutler but this talk about him not being tough is just as stupid as when they did the same to LT on the Chargers. Only the doctors/trainers on the team know the state of the players and if they say they can't go then they can't go.Comment

Brandon Lloyd can add All-Pro recognition to his growing list of 2010 accomplishments.
The wide receiver, already in Hawaii for his first Pro Bowl after a career season, has been named a second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press.
Lloyd set career highs in 2010 with 77 catches for a league-leading 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns. The eight-year veteran averaged a 18.8 yards per catch to lead the NFL.
He became the first Bronco to lead the league in receiving yards and just the second player in NFL history to post his first 1,400-yard receiving campaign in his eighth season or later.
Atlanta’s Roddy White and Indianapolis’ Reggie Wayne earned the wide receiver spots on the first team. Kansas City’s Dwayne Bowe and Detroit’s Calvin Johnson joined Lloyd on the second team.
This marks the eighth consecutive season that the Broncos have had at least one representative on the Associated Press NFL All-Pro teams. Lloyd is the first Broncos wide receiver to receive the honor since Rod Smith made the second team in 2001.
Champ Bailey received two votes at cornerback, placing him tied for eighth at the position. The top four vote-getting cornerbacks earned All-Pro recognition.Aaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
It was a sprain (grade II tear). At least if he could stand and ride the bike, he could have come over and supported Hainie instead of sitting at the end of the bench. Regardless, I'm tired of this subject already. Next year all the talking heads will have forgotten about this game and will tout him as one of the best in the league.Last edited by Runnin with Scissors; 01-25-2011, 08:09 PM.Comment
