Fox says it's Orton's job to lose. I'm honestly surprised as I thought Tebow did well enough at the end of last year for it to be an open competition. From everything I read/hear, it doesn't sound like Fox/Elway are too high on Tebow.

Camps are far away, things can always change, especially if someone comes knocking for OrtonAaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Am I alone in the thought that if Fairly is taken first I would rather see the Broncos trade the second pick rather than take Bowers or Peterson?
Our front seven needs a lot of help BUT I am satisfied with Ayers and Dumerville on the edges, I would rather them concentrate on the DL and LB spots than use a second pick on a spot that isn't of the MOST concern.Comment

Dareus is another option if they do manage a trade down a few spotsAaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
As most know here I am a huge A&M fan and Broncos fan. I just saw a mock draft having the Broncos taking Von Miller from A&M...I am excited, but at the same time don't think that is the right move. I think Dareus would be the right pick, and if the Broncos are able to trade down a spot or two and stop pile picks and still get Dareus I would be happy. As a strong A&M supporter I hate to say it, but Von Miller is not what the Broncos need. But if the do take Miller I will be shocked, but will be the first time my college team had a top 5 pick go to my NFL team. Needless to say I am torn.Texas A&M Aggies

My initial feeling would be that they are trying to feign interest in Newton/Gabbard so that a team who is actually interested might trade up to get into their spot (#2 overall). That said, if they are actually interested in Newton/Gabbard after spending the pick on Tebow last year with so many needs on defense I think they are off their rocker."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
I believe Carolina will go QB first pick, makes a splash (everyone knows Clausen is Brady Quinn 2.0)
As for trading down, heres an article
It will be difficult trading No. 2 NFL pick without labor agreement : First-and-Orange is the authority on the latest breaking news and analysis about the Denver Broncos, written by Troy E. Renck, Nicki Jhabvala and other Denver Post sports writers. Colorado
But to trade back on draft day, April 28, the Broncos need a near-miraculous resolution to the current labor agreement. As it stands now, the No. 2 pick would likely get $44 million in contract guarantees (10 percent more than the $40 million Detroit handed Ndamukong Suh last year).
A new CBA promises a contract cap system on first-round picks that would reduce that guarantee figure substantially. Without a new CBA by April 28 _ and face it, there won’t be _ the Broncos will be the second team drafting.
Media just wants to stories since theres nothing else going on, Tebow happens to be one of those (Common) topics.Last edited by av7; 03-26-2011, 11:24 PM.Aaron

Av I'm with you on your point. New rumor via Woody Paige is Darius is the front runner for the Broncos pick and due to the lockout Broncos won't be able to trade back cause no one knows what the rookie salary cap will be.
I love to see them trade back and take Von Miller for obvious reason and I really see a piece of Clay Matthews in the way Von Miller plays. And would love to see a healthy Dumervil and Miller giving QBs all sorts of problems. But I know a runner stopper inside is probably more important right now.Texas A&M Aggies

Well this is probably the first and last time my picture makes sense with the TAMU and Denver logos together. I am a fan of Von Miller and hope he does well but think we could've used a little more help inside.Texas A&M Aggies

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Atleast they didn't draft a QB and WR like last year or an RB the year before.
My interest level is at bare minimum for the NFL at this point over the bickering between the owners and players.
I wont be surprised if they take a FB/TE later in the draft at some point. Thats the one position from the offense I wont be mad at if they spend a pick.Aaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
5 picks left for them to do something with. It has to be impossible for them to ignore DT for another year.....right....?
If the CBA was around, the team could've had more picks since they're not drafting a QB and Orton has the best value. Oh well.Aaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
You rarely find good DT in FA anymore. Most good teams DRAFT them. *** backwards approach from the new regime. Everyone else seems to have learned this lesson but them
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos will likely not get an impact player at their biggest area of need. The Broncos have made four picks in the first three rounds of the draft and they have yet to take a defensive tackle.
Denver coach John Fox acknowledged that Denver still needs to find help at the position. He indicated it would be a target area once free agency starts.Aaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
I was okay with the draft up until taking an ILB in the 3rd. That makes no sense to me after taking Miller in the first.
I wasn't crazy about OL BUT it is an area of concern so if he was the best available I was okay there. Not going DT in the 3rd though is mind boggling to me.Comment
