So, we got RGIII makes me happy. No second round pick, makes me sad. That said. I just looked around. Washington can still have a very good draft. Not counting RGIII Washington has 4 picks in the top 150. With two 4th round picks (7 & 14) and the 6th pick in the 3rd round, if there is a player in the back end of the 2nd round they really want they have the ammo to move up into the back of round 2. They can still get a very good player at 69 in the 3rd round.

So, we got the QB, It appears that Gomes in the replacement for Landry. We brought in some WRs, Running back seems secure, TE is in a good spot. For me the positions that we should be addressing in rounds 3 and 4 are OL, CB, and I would say WR if you can get a guy like Nick Toon. I think having a great route running WR would help RGIII exponentially, having someone be where they are suppose to be early on.

heard some suggest they may put together the 2 4's and try to go back into the mid second round area to get lamar miller, rb, the u. wouldn't be too upset about that scenario. a mid round wr i was hoping for would be t.y. hylton from FIU. has SPEED and can play the slot, also a very good return guy so we can turn the page on banks. o line and defensive back go without saying, they need help in both areas. a developmental middle backer would be nice at some point as well...

Why? We have 3 RBs that showed they can carry the load. Why add a 4th. As far as Hilton IMO he should be there in the 3rd round if they really want him. If we move into the second round the player needs to be a guy who can start day one somewhere otherwise we can still get "good football players " with the picks we have.

I also don't like the Cousins pick. I think it could work out to have a nice backup QB down the road. But right now he is gonna get less than 0 reps. Or he should. RGIII should get every single rep there is. I know that Grossman knows the playbook, so you could say that Cousins could split some of those reps because Rex doesn't need them. But like I said. Cousins is a rookie, and he is gonna need reps like any rookie QB but I want all those reps going to RGIII. So in that regard I don't like the Cousin pick.

In a perfect world Cousins shows the he can play the position during the next preseason on two and we can recoup a 1st round picks that we gave up for RGIII in the future.

That's what I think Shanny is going with, Cousin shows himself and we could use him as trade bait..I guess, I still thinik we could've address something else with that pick.

The Cousins pick isn't that bad. He was definitely BPA at that point, and back up QB is definitely a need. Nobody wants to go beyond this year with Grossman, and Beck will now be gone in a week. QBs like RG3 rarely make it through 16 games (unfortunately). Having Cousins behind him for years could be a good move. If Cousins gets good enough to ask for starter money, then there's your trade bait.

                      I actually like the pick.

point is moot since they didn't go up and draft miller. but they have TWO rb's on the roster (unless tristan davis is included in your scenario), hightower is a free agent and doesn't seem like he is going to be re-signed. and miller was there in the 3rd as it was...

the fact they immediately cut beck made the cousins pick worth it for me. i LOVE the pick. they solidified the most important position on the team. went from the weakest position (even with rgIII) to a strength. i think this year it will be rgIII, then grossman then cousins on the depth chart. but should rgIII get hurt i could see cousins becoming the starter over grossman. next year grossman is gone hopefully. like some have said, i think cousins shows out in the preseason next couple years, skins recoup some picks for him, draft another young guy and repeat the process. this is what good organizations do. they are by no means a good organization yet, but you have got to start somewhere...

I still don't see how Cousins will get enough reps to be a viable option in the upcoming season. RGIII needs to take every single rep that he can and then he should take 10 more. Add to the the rep that Shanny has of never developing a young QBs, I think that for all the holes that needed to be filled taking Cousins was a luxury that a 5-11 team doesn't really have.

He won't be a viable option until at least midseason and even barely then. But the good news is it doesn't matter. The Skins aren't winning anything this year. It's about time they started building a team without trying to appease or create false hope. This year is most definitely a rebuilding year. 5-11 is bad but 4-12 with RG3 is better than 5-11 with Grossman/Beck. And honestly, they should be better than next year in reality and in record. But so what if they're not? Trying to build a "serviceable" team from year to year is exactly why they've been stuck in mediocrity for so long. They've got 2 years. Year after next they should be competing for a playoff spot... after that a championship. In that time frame they should be getting all the pieces they need. If they can get a low 1st or high 2nd round graded QB this year in the 4th round, I say do it. There's an entire year and another draft to get ALL the holes filled for a run at the playoffs.

That pick screams nothing but "Oh, so you people don't think I can develop a Quarterback? OK, you'll see. Just watch me work my magic" from Shanahan, especially considering everyone in town had been criticizing his "handling and development" when it comes to QBs and rightfully so, BTW.
