Ok you've convinced me. Since I consider next season and maybe the season after to be washes, I've changed my mind. I'd prefer this scenerio (If we were gauranteed a top 5-10 pick next year) I would prefer drafting Okung first round, Jason fox second round, Toby Gerhart/ Dexter McCluster fourth round (if they slip) or maybe Matt Tennant (center from Boston College). Sighn Campbell as a one year stop gap guy as the young guys get expierence. Then we win like 6 games next year draft Jake Locker with all your young pieces already intact. This will be better for the Redskin's because I believe Jake Locker> Sam Bradford>Claussen.... I changed my mind because I'm not expecting much next year from the Skin's, so just rebuild and let Campbell be a "stop gap"

You seem to have some kind of clue about football. Maybe you have more focus on the college game, I don't know, but you're clearly not completely ignorant. I suggest you take a long look at Campbell next year (bc he will be back) with an open mind. He may not be the QB of the future for the team but QB is FAR from an immediate need. I'll even go as far as saying that if Shannahan can get a few olineman to run his system the skins will win at least 8 games next year.

N51_rob I agree with you about trading back, however I don't think the Skins should take Okung I don't think he fits Shannahan's system. He like smaller atheletic linemen. They should definitly not take a QB until the later rounds maybe take a chance on a Zac Robinson, I wouldn't mind taking Rolondo McClain if they do stay at the 4th pick

Yes, but Campbell isnt much better than the line he plays behind. I have watched every game in his Redskin carreer and half the sacks he takes could have been avoided. He has MAJOR limitations and he has trouble reading defense. He has also had plenty of oppurtunities to lead the Redskins downfield to win the game and failed(even in meaningless games) He also lost to second stringers on defense in a meaningless game. He got outplayed last season by Ryan Fitzpatrick in a game we needed to win to get into the playoffs. Also, many other backups have outplayed JC over the years. I think Shanahan should definately draft Jimmy clausen. He reminds me of what Shanahan had in Jay Cutler. They can use there second and fourth round picks on O linemen. Also free agency. Campbell is not the anwser and he has proven it when he has had time.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks this. I often get into these arguments with my fellow Bears fans on why a QB is more important for re-building than an O-line. And don't get me wrong, if your looking to win a championship your going to need that O-line to be stable. And I agree with your philosophy on getting later picks to build an O-line. Most good GM's and coaches have that ability to find good O-linemen in later round picks and free agency.

However, Jimmy Clausen might not be your answer. Like I said, I agree with your philosophy of getting a franchise QB BUT I don't see a franchise QB in this draft. And that includes Clausen, who I think is the only NFL ready QB in the draft.

In the case of the Redskins and especially this year it might be advisable to wait until next year to nab a franchise QB. I would probably trade out of the first round and get more picks and get some decent O-lineman.

It sound strange to me to disagree with you on this plan because we both share the same philosophy BUT this draft of QB's suck and I'd advise not to pin your hopes on getting a pro bowl QB.

in a perfect world they could trade back like 10 or so picks and get an additional 2nd rounder or something. if they use the #4 pick it can't be a reach so if they don't have an otackle rated that high they need to just draft the best available player regardless of position. if i were picking and eric berry is available he would come off the board. i know that may not be a popular pick on this message board, but a top flight free safety can help cover up a lot of the corner's mistakes. the skins also need an linebacker, rocky is ok and london is a beast, but he ain't getting any younger. if they do what is right and move orakpo to de exclusively they need another lb. blades ain't gonna cut it. if they draft clausen i will puke. this is not a good year for qb's as high picks, clausen being rated as the "elite" is proof of that...

Yeah I think it was a good choice by Shanny. I also heard that he might implement a 3-4 scheme. Don't know how that would fit our personnel.

Haslett does both..3-4 and 4-3..so we may see a little bit of both.

I agree we are far from having 3-4 personell. We need another MLB, at least one 300 lbs DE to play on the strong side agianst the rush, plus with Fragile Albert in the middle, I think we would get run on like crazy in the 3-4 with the guys that we have. If we were goint to make that switch it would have to be next year when we can draft some of those guys. But I think that Haslett will bring a more aggresive style to the defense which I think we could've used last year.

Just saw a mock draft (I think it was Kiper's) that has the Washington Redskins taking Sam Bradford, an official member of the Cherokee Nation, at 4th Overall.... Oh, the irony....

It's to the point where all these mock's continue to ignore two huge facts. 1.) The Skins have no Oline, 2.) Bradford has shown that he can't take a hit. (I've heard at least three "talent evaluators" say that he doesn't know hot to fall)

The good news is Shannahan knows as well as anyone the value of an oline. Lets just hope he's not so arrogant as to think he can build one from scraps, but I don't think he is. Honestly, as bad of an idea drafting Bradford is period, what scares me the most is using the #4 pick for him. If not for the years of people rotating in after Elway, I'm not even sure Shannahan would've taken Cutler at #4 and I don't think anyone thinks Bradford is Cutler (or what they thought of Cutler at that draft). If (big IF) they do target Bradford, I'd hope they'd at least jump through hoops to trade down and get something for the 4th pick before taking him.
