Just wanted a gauge on what any Jets fans thought for a Revis trade. If it does happen, does this sound unreasonable to ya'll? This years first (#13 OVR) and a conditional pick (a first if he makes 1st team Pro-Bowl, second if it is 2nd team Pro-Bowl, a fifth if he doesn't make either but plays the entire year, and nothing if he doesn't) in the 2014 draft. The only reason anyone would trade this much for a player is the expectation of acquiring someone at a pro-bowl level so I believe this stipulation should be fair ESPECIALLY since he's coming off an ACL tear. Any of ya'll think this would be fair or am I off the mark?

Thoughts on this growing QB battle.
I'm gonna say this knowing he isn't a HOF talent but Geno Smith is the guy I want starting next year.
If you draft him, you play him.
If I see Sanchez under center to start the year, I'm not watching a single game.

I don't think there is a QB battle. It just seems like ESPN/NFL Network hype train. Like they're looking for a story or something.
Sanchez was the laughing stock of the league and now everyone's acting surprised that we drafted a QB?
Typical media blowing things way out of proportion.Comment

Sanchez has to be cut at this point. Even if you owe him money, just get on with it.

You're right. I guess I figured the battle would be between Gerrard and Smith. But I think it makes more sense that Gerrard is the veteran that helps Smith ease into the role.

I think they actually might hang onto Sanchez. He's dead money either way. But like with Flynn in Seattle, think they'll hold onto him hoping to find any takers.
I think Tebow will be released any day now. Couldn't even deal him for a 7th rounder so I expect him to be gone.
Can't say we didn't address the O-line this year
I would've liked to have seen a Safety. Easily the weakest position on the roster.Comment

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
I'd let Garrard and Smith compete for the starting job. Cut Tebow. I'm indifferent to what they do with Sanchez, just do whatever they think is best cap wise. But he can't be a serious candidate to play anymore. I think he's shot, especially here.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
Just saw that we picked up an UDFA Safety Rontez Miles.
Looks like a complete beast on YouTube. Just blowing up everyone he hits. I thin he'll make the roster.
It's rare I watch a player's video and say Wow.Comment

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
Gotta love what Idzik is doing.
In addition to the 3rd round pick that we'll get in 2014 from Tampa Bay for the Darrelle Revis trade, we'll probably be getting the maximum 4 Compensatory draft picks as well.
We lost these free agents (all starters with value, which is how compensatory picks are determined)-
Moore
Slauson
Keller
Greene
Devito
Landry
Bell
They all signed as FAs with other teams.
Technically, we only signed players who were released/cut. They don't count against FAs you acquired because they were released by their previous teams.
Garay
Barnes
Landry
Colon
Pace
Mike Goodson I believe was the only outright FA. But we lost enough players to cover the one signed.
In addition to all of the draft picks, we should have a ton of cap space with the release of Sanchez next year, possible release of Holmes and possibly reworking David Harris' deal.
Idzik has positioned us well for the future. We just have to get through the lumps this year.Comment

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
The Jets are reportedly going to have around $51 million in cap room going into the 2014 season. That is staggering considering where things were going into this season. Now some of that money will go to resigning Wilkerson, but he's literally the only player worth a damn they will need to worry about going into 2014. Mangold's deal is up after 2015, so they could try and get that done a year early with all that cap space as well.
Idzik is truly working some magic.Comment

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
As a Jet fan there's no reason to even have Sanchez on your roster. He has the lower QBR of any QB the last 4 years. He's gotten projessivley worse every year since his rookie year.
Sometimes you gotta cut dead weight and Sanchez is the heaviest on the roster. Time to cut ties...Moderator

He has value, even as bad as his contract is.
Any GM worth his salt would not just jettison him away without looking for value back. If all you can get for him is a 7th pick, even that is worth something.Comment
