"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
I'm not a fan of Ryan but I'll say let him finish out his contract. This roster is atrocious and 7 wins (mostly on the back of the defensive front 7) is a huge accomplishment.
Wishlist:
-Cut Sanchez, Holmes and Cromartie. If Cro wants to sign back on a lesser deal like Calvin Pace, fine.
-Draft WR Mike Evans out of Texas A&M. Hill is a bust and we need a big, physical receiver for Geno.
-My heart says sign Hakeem Nicks but my mind says sign Eric Decker. Either way, we need to sign one of the top 3 FA WRs out there, regardless of the cost.
-Use a 2nd round pick on a big play TE.
I think with the combination of our front 7, Geno's 2nd year development with the above weapons/upgrades and the amount of cap space we'll have, we're definitely a playoff team next year.Comment

They need offensive weapons and if a really good QB is available which is less likely now that a couple of guys are staying in school I would grab him.
Get some receivers. The running backs are serviceable though they might want to get a guy who can catch the ball out of the backfield.Comment

Don't know about Nicks. He dogged it this year I guess the Cruz contract pissed him off. Might be trading one problem in Holmes for another.

Holmes never should've been considered a #1 WR nor should he have been paid like one. Injuries aside, Nicks is a legit #1.
Do I believe he quit this year? Absolutely. But the FA WR choices are slim.Comment

I don't know why anyone would want Nicks after this year and how can he be considered a 1?Comment

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
And after Cruz got paid, he said screw it.
I'm not saying that's ********* but I understand.
Besides, who are the big name WRs out there? Britt?
I'd pay Nicks and go with that. Idzik gave Sidney Rice a bazillion dollars in Seattle.Comment

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
Changed my draft desires from WR Mike Evans to:
TE Ebron or
TE Amaro
Tons of WRs are declaring so we can pick up a good one in the 2nd round.
Ebron is a STUD. Not sure if he'll be available at 18.Comment

What do you think about Shaw from FSU? I like him. And if Benjamin falls the Jets should grab himYou Look Good, You Feel Good. You Feel Good, You Play Good. You Play Good, They Pay Good. - Deion Sanders

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
I like Benjamin. The only thing that scares me is that he reminds me of Stephen Hill.
We need a possession WR. A big-bodied guy.
But we can get that in free agency. A #1 WR.
There are so many WRs in this draft which is why I said we should grab one of the 2 top TEs.
I think Ebron will be gone by 18 but if we can get Amaro, I'd be pumped.Comment

We got burned by paying a #2 WR #1 WR money in Santonio Holmes.
We need a legit #1 so I say go all in on Nicks and deal with the repercussions later.Comment

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
So after the combine, I see Ebron and Evans pretty much gone by #18. Which means IF (and they should) we go offense first round, it's Lee or ASJ. I don't mind either. You Look Good, You Feel Good. You Feel Good, You Play Good. You Play Good, They Pay Good. - Deion Sanders

Re: Official New York Jets Thread
I do not want Lee. At all.
We resigned Cumberland. Cumberland is clearly a #2 TE.
I'm still holding out hope for Ebron. The Ravens resigned Pitta and Pitt needs O-Line help. The Packers may pull the trigger on him even though they have other needs.
Either way, it's obvious Idzik is going to stick with his draft board and pick the best player available.
Also, I won't be surprised if we bring in Sidney Rice at WR.Comment

I wasn't too find if the Cumberland signing, but I'm not mad at it either. Cumberland is going to always be an average TE and nothing more so Idzik better not stop there. And believe me, I pray for Ebron to be there everynight lol. If they bring Sidney Rice in, he better have the least amount of guaranteed money possible. Also, Idzik needs to spit serious game to Worlids from the Steelers. Maybe throw in a poison pill so they won't match. You Look Good, You Feel Good. You Feel Good, You Play Good. He's definitely not a #1 TE so we can't sit pat on that. Geno needs weapons.Comment
