Re: How's Your GM Mode Going?
4-3-1 thus far in my first year with the Florida Panthers, good enough for 6th in the division. Had a rash of injuries in the first few games, but nothing over 10 days outside of a concussion to Brad Boyes that has sidelined him for a month.
Luongo has been strong of late, starting 7 of the 8 games of the season. He started out a bit rusty. Huberdeau and Barkov are carrying the team offensively, especially in the absence of Boyes, who had 2g and 1a in his first three games prior to being hurt. Montoya's only start was a 5-1 loss to the Coyotes.
My defense is a bit suspect. Ekblad has done well for playing 22+ minutes a night, but still is a bit inexperienced against a teams with potent offensive tools. Campbell is great offensively, but hasn't done well in his own zone. Best pairing so far has been Mitchell and Kulikov. They also anchor my first PK unit.
My power play has been good and checks in at 31%. Penalty kill needs to be better and is only sitting at 71% right now.
Drew Shore earned a short call up (4gp, 1g, 0a, +1) and played well centering the third line (Bolland was hurt for a bit previously, as well). Shore has since been reassigned following Bolland's return.
My lines are below.
Huberdeau - Barkov - Jokinen
Fleischmann - Bjugstad - Bergenheim
Kopecky - Bolland - Upshall (A)
Pirri - MacKenzie - Thornton
Campbell (A) - Ekblad
Mitchell (C) - Kulikov
Olsen - Gudbranson
Luongo
Montoya
Scratched - Robak
Injured - Boyes (1 week remaining), Hayes (3 days remaining)
I'm playing 9 minute periods on Hardcore Superstar (my own custom sliders). I play all my games. Having a lot of fun so far - lots of realistic games. I'll lose 5-1, then win 2-1, then lose in OT 3-2. Good, realistic feel.
More updates to come later. Will also update stats in 10 games or so.Last edited by Istorvir; 10-27-2014, 11:09 AM.Comment

Re: How's Your GM Mode Going?
Turned down hitting power to 0 for both CPU and HUM. Feels much better with far less over the top hits sending players to the ice.
Beat the Rangers 3-2 in a shootout! Next up we head to New Jersey to take on the Devils. We really need to get a streak going here!!Comment

Re: How's Your GM Mode Going?
We lose 3-2 in a shootout vs NJ.. but I actually scored the winning goal late in the 3rd, but after I scored like 2 seconds later, no goal horn and then a whistle blows and the announcers say the refs lost sight of the puck.. yeah.. um.. ok.. sure you did. WTF is wrong with this game at times?Comment

Re: How's Your GM Mode Going?
Has anyone run into an issue where your team wins in OT or a shootout but your goalie doesn't get credit for the win? I currently have 9 wins on the season after a recent Shootout victory. Luongo has 7 wins and Montoya 1. A win is missing.
Thought this was odd.Comment

Re: How's Your GM Mode Going?
Beat Toronto 4-3 in my first round series. Currently playing Washington. Beat them 4-1 in game 1, they went into bezerker mode in game 2 and won 7-4. Game 3 the CPU seemed determine to orchestrate a win and I lost it 5-2.Comment

Re: How's Your GM Mode Going?
Little bugs like this really make me upset I traded in my Xbox 360 and bought an Xbox One for the sole purpose of NHL 15. Had I have known, I would've waited another year.
What makes the so tough is that I really appreciate the gameplay. It feels more realistic to me than any other previous iteration. With the right sliders, this is the closest to actual hockey I've ever played. And I put in at least 500-700 games a year on NHL.
Good with the bad, I guess.Comment

After reading early reviews, I knew and expected certain things to be missing. I play offline only in GM mode, really, and have been doing so since NHL 97ish.

Re: How's Your GM Mode Going?
Started what I planned to be a complete overhaul of the Hurricanes. Simmed the entire first season, didn't care what the results were, and we ended up going 51-24-7. We were beat in 7 games by the Flyers in the 1st round. Cam Ward's stats after 7 games were: 3-3-1, 4.58 GAA, 8.79 SV%. Brutal.
So, since the team was much better than I thought, I decided to re-tool in the off-season instead of re-build. I knew I wanted to trade Cam Ward as 1) he was lit up in the playoffs and 2) Anton Khubodin has progressed really well, and is an 84 OVR. The draft day moves I made were:
To Washington:
D Tim Gleason (Trading Block)
To Carolina:
F Evgeny Kuznetsov (Trading Block)
To Nashville:
G Cam Ward
D Ron Hainsey
To Carolina:
2015 1st-round Pick
2015 2nd-round pick
2016 2nd-round pick.
Free Agent Signings:
Derrick Brassard - 4 years, $16.4M
Martin Havlat - 2 years, $7.6M
Cam Talbot - 3 years, $12M
Bought out the contract of John-Michael Liles
2015-2016 Opening Game Carolina Hurricanes Roster:
Jeff Skinner - Eric Staal - Alexander Semin
Martin Havlat - Jordan Staal - Jiri Tlusty
Evgeny Kuznetsov - Derrick Brassard - Elias Lindholm
Zach Boychuk - Joe Vitale - Nathan Gerbe
Andrej Sekera - Justin Faulk
Alex Urbom- Ryan Murphy
Austin Levi - Haydn Fleury
Anton Khubodin
Cam Talbot
My defense desperately needs major improvement, and I have an abundance of forwards. I'm looking to trade either Jiri Tlusty or Nathan Gerbe for a top 6 defenseman and a grinder.Comment
