Re: How's Your GM Mode Going?

I just started a GM mode with Colorado. I did not play NHL '14, so I played about 10 to 15 "play now" games as practice. I got all they way to playing against the blue all-star team on only losing by a goal or two. (FYI - All Star, only change is backing down computer AI learning a few clicks). THOUGHT I was ready for the season!

WRONG!! I got smoked in the first period 4-0. My computer controlled payers were nowhere to be seen in the defensive zone. It was against Minnesota, and I realize they are decent, but looking at replay's, and seeing my teammates leaving guys wide open in the slot so they could go for a random skate towards the corners was VERY frustrating!

Has anyone else (I did read a few posts and pages at the begining of the thread) had such a noticable difference in gameplay from "play now" to "GM" mode? I was prepared to lose games as the season went along, to learn as I go, but 5-0 at the end of the period was a little much!

Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated!

I really believe the game plays better in "Play now" than GM mode. Including more teammate ai help. In BEAGM, i feel as though i'm out there alone, defensively.

Glad I'm not the only one, Vikes1! I'll try again tonight early enough so I finish the whole game. I'll take my lumps and move on to game 2!!

I was thinking about picking this game up either today or tomorrow but I was wondering wether I should get it or not... I'm not a real big hockey fan but I do love to play from time to time

Can you be fired as GM of a club?

So how did you guys get around EA screwing up Patrick and Capt Serious salaries that put the team several million over the cap?

Got my Pens up to 45-32-4 and 3rd in the East. Crosby just got hurt and will probably miss the first 2 playoff games.

                Scoring leaders
Crosby 35 goals, 50 assists from 73 games.

Malkin 28 goals 54 assists from 79 games.

Does anyone know what happens if I put a player in the wrong position? I want to match up Drouin with Stamkos but will that make them grow slower or something like that?

                    Re:GM Mode Roster Editing question

Ok so I know you can't edit player ratings but before I start my GM Mode is it possible to still do player movement so I can exile Broduer, Thomas, Pronger and Savard to Europe?

I was distressed by this also. Toews and Kane's salaries are both set, incorrectly, at 10.5M for the 2014-15 season. (That's the new contract figure that takes effect in 2015-2016 season.) I didn't wanto to turn off the cap, either, but I did go ahead and turn off previous cap penalties and buyouts. (for the Blackhawks this doesn't amount to much, maybe $60,000). Then I started a franchise and much to my surprise all salaries were adjusted down by about 10-15%. Voila, the Hawks were under the cap, with a little room to spare for the trade deadline or a bottom six free agent.

My GM mode is going poorly now, zero wins so far. I'll figure it out sooner or later.

I'm in a GM Mode and I'm thinking about trading for Oliver Ekman-Larson from Phoenix. I like playing GM Modes realistically, so what should Phoenix get for a fair return in exchange for their young defensemen?

Just advanced to 4-2-1 with the Rangers. Was down 0-2 to the Devils going into the third. Zucc's, Nash, and Brassard scored before Kreider got an EN Goal to close the game. Duclair is eligible for return after straining his Hamstring in his third NHL game, but I'm going to keep him scratched to avoid further injury for now.

                                Goals -
                                Kreider (4)
                                Brassard (3)
                                Nash (3)

                                Assists -
                                J. Moore (8)
                                Brassard (4)
                                Stepan (3)

Teams 31% on the PP, 66% on the PK.

Third place in the Metro. Two points behind Colombus.
Detroit and Chicago hottest teams right now both 6-1.
