From the link, if you press recent you can see the request for more faces. Please give it a vote up.

Please guys, it would be great if you came and said something over at the thread on EA's site like mnxnar. With enough support I think they will something about it.

List of player faces? There's only like 20 players with faces, why bother making a thread.

Re: NHL 14 Player Faces List

It's unfortunate about the real face situation, but it would make sense that this year is pretty light on the additions considering EA NHL likely spent some of their resources this past year retooling/prepping for the next gen NHL 15.

Hopefully they'll have a more efficient face mapping technology that can doesn't take so many man hours to get a face in the game. Or perhaps (as someone else mentioned) they can develop a quality custom face generator so the hardcore community members can create the missed faces on their own and share.

Another thing that's always bugged me is when players don't have their real helmet. Helmets are a huge part of a player having the 'right' appearance. Every current helmet manufacturer is licensed in the game, they should be able to get every helmet. Hell, they even have an old jofa in the game, so it should be feasible to get Selanne's trademark jofa, though he'll probably be retired by NHL15. Then of course they should have more than a couple token visors too. OHL players look ridiculous on their teams without the required earguards, CHL style visors, or neckguards.

I'm keeping an open mind for next year. It's definitely the year to expect a lot different on the presentation side of things. I'm hoping for a lot more customization capabilities.

Re: NHL 14 Player Faces List

I see James Neal listed as having a face. I watched a YouTube video of some Pens gameplay, and I'm not sure that's his face. It looked nothing like him. That being said, it didn't look like one of the generic faces either. So I'm not sure what the deal is.

I too would be more understanding, if things were not as bad as they are now. Too many key guys missing, guys that should have been taken care of years ago. But this year is truly a unique opportunity for EA. For one, with Microsoft's patch fee gone I'm expecting to see lots of changes made, not only to lingering bugs and gameplay issues, but to the smaller details as well- this is a chance to send out waivers to several teams without center-ice logos, and also to add more faces.

Not only are good players missing, many good young rookies (44 to be exact ) who have already taken those 3D headshots have still not had their cybers added yet. I'm pretty surprised that guys who were scanned at the 2012 showcase have still not been finished, but again now is the time to get to them.

And with the Olympics in February, I wonder if EA would consider sending the Capture Lab team to Sochi so they can go around getting scans at the Olympic neighborhood? Lots of guys could use updates, and scanning Olympic teams is a much more effective method of getting new players in than going around to each NHL city, or having the teams come to Vancouver. Which they haven't done anyways...

About the gear though, there are only 4 visors in all of hockey: the Bauer standard/curved and the Oakley standard/curved. For the sake of realism I would like to see Oakley visors added, but I think just having a proper curved and CHL style visor+ earguards would be a good start.

That's good to know... Rick Nash has looked like a freaking stubble-less cherub since 2006 in the game and needs an update super bad but never gets one. Radulov has played like a dozen NHL games in the last few years and plays in a league that EA doesn't even have the rights to and gets an update for the international roster. Brilliant.

This should be brought up in the other forum. If you guys aren't up for it, I'll be glad to bring it up. I don't wanna just steal what I wasn't able to point out.

Hey guys, I posted an interesting request over on this forum. Apparently the guy who started the thread sends players' requests to the NHL developers... bope. Try and help us out: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/105/9675247.page

                            The post reads:
I know the whole talk of cyber faces is coming up more and more. Just a few years back I felt like there weren't enough people who cared, and this year there's a whole bunch of people trying to get the developers to do something about it. Clearly, it's a growing concern. Below, in no particular order, are the 3 things that come up most frequently in the forums. When put in words it seems like we're asking for a whole lot but this is incredibly reasonable when comparing to other EA franchises like Madden or FIFA. If Madden and FIFA die hards have their stars looking real, we should as well. Let's try and send this to the developers.:

                            1. The rookies from the showcases.
                            - Through patches and roster updates, us players would like to at least get cybers from the NHL ready prospects. It encourages going in depth while playing Be a GM mode. Without these prospects, several years into our dynasties, teams end up looking like a bunch of nobody's. It makes for an uninteresting stretch when all players with a familiar face are gone.

                            2. The removed cyber faces.
                            - Brad Boyes, Jussi Jokinen, Jamie Langenbrunner, John-Michael Liles and Alex Tanguay (I may be missing a couple) all had cyber faces several years ago. They weren't outdated, yet they were still removed. These players are all veterans who can make for some interesting and inexpensive additions to a team in Be a GM mode, so why not add them back? They're not superstars, but still names that are recognized around the NHL. Also, Thomas Vanek's face was re-added (with no alterations) to the game via roster update last season due to his stellar campaign. These faces are not discarded, they are still floating around somewhere.

                            3. Dan Girardi and Brent Burns.
                            - If EA themselves have given you a list of THEIR top 50 players, it is only normal for you to expect them to include all 50 players with a correct model in their game. These 2 players specifically are arguably amongst the top 15 defensemen in the sport (top 14 according to EA's top 50 list which includes 14 defensemen) and should be represented correctly in the sport's annual game. User dlxsf18 managed to put together very decent cybers for these 2 stars as an example. I would also like to add that the New York Rangers can use an extra cyber face given that 5 of their 10 stars rated 80 overall and up, still wear a generic face.

It seems pointless to bump this thread with so little support from anyone else besides stevendah and mnxnar but here I go again.

Turns out scans were taken in 2011 as well. That brings the list of scanned but cyberless players to 62 guys now. Here's every single one of them:

                              2011

EA Sports also had a station set-up, a room where they took head scan pictures of the players from all angles. These images will be used to make the video game versions of the players for next year's NHL '13.

                              Justin Faulk
                              John Moore
                              Marcus Kruger

                              Ryan Ellis
                              Blake Geoffrion

EA Sports will also be taking head scans of the rookies to be used in their upcoming NHL 13 video game.
