I have a couple questions, I am currently re-doing the 1989-90 season on NHL 14 Ps3 version. I have most NHL players already edited and showing up in the game perfectly fine, working on attributes now. My question is I have also changed all of the players numbers and they will not show up in the game so Brett Hull is number 74 since I created him over T.J Oshie any advice? I have changed the numbers on the DB Editor. Also since there were only 21 teams in 89 is there a way where I can change for example Nashville to a different Team ID where they will not show up when starting a new GM once I have created these? Thanks for the answers and sorry if I have missed a step that someone has already posted.

Re: NHL 14 Roster Tools
Edit the numbers in game, as DPyro said and no, there's no way to change the structure of the league entirely. You're editing a database. You can't change the actual game. You can change names and figures but you can't turn a 30 team league into a 21 team league. The game is programmed to create an 82 game, 4 round playoff based on 30 teams. You can't alter that type of stuff.Comment

For the purpose of these instructions, I am using what I believe was the first xml file released for NHL 14 which was created by (I believe) Phil Parent and the player I'll be editing is Sidney Crosby.
1. To change a jersey number, under the ubPc tab, find the player you want to change and scroll over to find his Player ID number. ie. Sidney Crosby's Player ID is 3109.
2. Go to the "Player Index" tab. Under this tab, the second column is listed as "Index" and the third column is listed as "Player ID". In the "player ID" column, scroll down until you find the player ID number you're looking for, in this example 3109. You'll find five instances of 3109 with the coinciding numbers 1319, 1320, 1321, 1322 and 1323 in the "Index" column to the left. These are the numbers which will be listed under the "Player ID" column in the next step for Sidney Crosby. The five different numbers (1319 - 1323) represent each instance of Sidney Crosby in the game (Penguins, Team Canada, All Star Team, etc).
3. Go to the "Rosters And Lines" tab and under the "Player ID" column, scroll down until you find the number(s) of the player you're looking for. In the "Jersey #" column to the right of it, you'll see the player's jersey number and the coinciding "Team ID" in the column to the left. Using the Crosby example, "Player ID" 1319 will be listed beside "Team ID" 23 which is Pittsburgh, "Player ID" 1320 will be listed beside "Team ID" 130 which is Team Canada, etc. Change the jersey number in the "Jersey #" column and it will be changed in game as well.
A couple other tips for you:
Since there were still some helmetless players kicking around the NHL in 89, under the xmja tab find the player ID number (same as the one in the ubPc tab) of the player you want to edit and change the coinciding number in the "Helmet" column to 0 to have a player who plays without a helmet. The "Vintage" helmet (think Lanny McDonald) from NHL 10 & 11 which has not been selectable in subsequent games is number 8. I don't know if anybody was still wearing that helmet in 89, but it's there if you need it.
If you run in to trouble with retired numbers, go to the wcSL tab, scroll down to find the Team ID number of the retired number you want to change then change the number in the coinciding JRY column to 0 or 100 (or any other number not accessible in game). ie. Scroll down to Team ID 10 (Detroit) and change the number 19 in JRY to 100 to unretire Steve Yzerman's number 19.Comment

Re: NHL 14 Roster Tools
Yup, got it to work for NHL 12. Save a roster file onto your USB, extract using XTaf, then save file on the desktop. Then, extract using Horizon. Extract DB using Pyro's tool and choose NHL 13 (if it doesn't work, try 14, can't remember exactly how I did it). Then, open EA Roster editor, create config for NHL 12 since it won't work with NHL 13 or 14 configs.

Re: NHL 14 Roster Tools
Quick question about mass editing... I get the +/- but what does the <- symbol do?
actually let me rephrase... I'm thinking greater than... but need a practical example of it's use in the editor...
thanksComment

Could someone tell me how to open a file in this? And can I go back and forth between this and NHLview? or do I have to use just 1?"NHLREVAMPED - Prospect SpecialistREVAMPEDROSTERS-

PS3 instructions on page 18 of this thread... picture instructions on page 19... Using both editors is best... NHLview does not do many things that pyro's editor does... at least not yetComment
