Are you sure you decrypted the SYS-DATA file? If the program doesn't find the header "PS3" it won't extract, as the file is still encrypted. Also make sure the right radio button is selected. SYS-DATA should begin with "PS3RosterFile".

        Re: NHL 14 Roster Tools

I'm fairly certain it's properly decrypted as bruteforce asks me if I want to leave the data decrypted and warns that PS3 only reads encrypted data. I open the decrypted files in a window, copy the SYS-DATA file to another location and attempt to extract the DB with the patcher, with the NHL 14 radio button selected. It asks me which file to extract the DB from and I select the SYS-DATA (it's just saved as SYS-DATA, by default) and then after a moment it asks me to save. After I click save, nothing ever shows up though. It just seems as if it's not actually saving?

How do I do that? lol

I can't do it as an attachement, it says invalid file type.

MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.

Does that work? Signed up for media fire quick.

Right click ->send to compressed folder.

              EDIT: Yep, it's still encrypted.

So what do I do differently? In brute force I opted to decrypt the files. From there I clicked, in the bottom left, "open in explorer" and from there I copied the SYS-DATA to a new folder.

Whenever I close bruteforce it asks if I want to leave the data decrypted. I don't get where I'm messing up.

Something wrong with bruteforce? Make sure to run it as admin (right click, properties, compatibility, check run as admin).

Incredible. It looks like that worked. Now I just load your .XML as the config in the DB editor and then open the extracted DB? Is it supposed to be just random columns and a bunch of numbers? I thought people had screens of more coherent data in the editor, but if not I guess I'll sift through the thread and try to figure out what all this stuff means now. Has anyone compiled a list of what the columns mean (the ones that have been figured out so far)?

Amazing. I'm actually able to edit everything in a database. The one thing that's odd to me is that I based this off of my roster, which I have made some alterations to (created players, moved players from team to team to reflect real life trades and from free agents to the teams they signed with) but editor seems to be showing the default rosters? Like, for example, PM Bouchard is on team 0 (free agents) but I have placed him on the Islanders? Not the biggest deal, but a bit confusing.

Figured it out: the guys I moved from free agents are still grouped as free agents in the initial grouping but under "pro team" they are moved to the team I placed them on. Trying to figure out how the values for weight are calculated right now.

Alright so, hid a bunch of players that shouldn't be in the game anymore, adjusted arena names for the arenas that have generic names, changed some skin tones, fixed Jesper Fasth's last name (Fast). Still haven't figured out how to edit individual player's attributes and REALLY want to figure out how to change heads as well as weights, but I think that's all a bit advanced for me for now. If someone else figures those ones out and figures out and wants to enlighten us, I'll work on those details later down the road. I also have to figure out how to work on contracts.

Moose look under the tab DSvy that's the player ratings, and I assume behaviors. The ratings are going on a 0-63 scale, the db's way of understanding 36-99. So for example, Crosby has a 95 puck control rating, that would be shown as 59 in the table. 59+36=95, hopefully this helps.

For X360 you need Horizon to extract the roster file first. For PS3 you need Brute Force Save Data and decrypt the SYS-DATA file first.

                            Download here.
With the first tool (NHL14 DB Packer) I was able to extract the db from my roster without a problem.

With #2 (NHL DB Patcher) it will not extract the db from roster. (for xbox, and yes i clicked nhl14)

Anyway. The roster db must be getting corrupted somehow during the process. Using the first tool, I extracted my db, made a few simple edits, saved the db. Re-packed it into my roster file, injected that roster into my flash drive, when I go to load it in game it says the roster is damaged and cannot be used.

I'm just going to post in here because this sounds pretty cool and easier for me to create my Legends roster but...I have no clue as to what the mumbo jumbo spewed in this thread is, I will have to get some patience and look through this when I have some time.

That's immensely helpful. Last night I left off where I'd indicated and today the plan was to figure out how to mess with individual attributes and get into the bulk of my editing so these instructions are pretty much all I'm going to be doing today.

If anyone figures out the formula they're using to generate player weights, let me know. Also, if anyone has figured out how to work the contracts and wants to explain, it would be appreciated. I see there are several fields you have to utilize such as "has contract", "contract length", "extension length", "extension dollars", "contract dollars", "contract multi-year", "extension 2-way", "contract needs entry level".

Finally, there is a a column called "Head ID", which I imagine refers to the generic head displayed. If anyone knows how those numbers match up to the heads available in the game, that would be awesome. If not, I'm going to look at several players whose faces I can match to a number in game and try to decipher it at some point.
