      Re: NHL 2K8 Editor (Snowdrift)

Salaries can only be edited after a season starts. Try increasing the salary cap. If salaries are still too high, it's probably one of two things:

      1. The game calculates some salaries based on rating, so depth players with high ratings may cause problems.

      2. Some salaries in 2K8 were hard-coded. Star players edited into depth players may cause problems if too many were moved to the same team.

Scratched players count against the cap, so send them to the minors before starting a season.

I might be stupid, but i recently found this post and i love this idea and i'm huge 2K hockey fan ( Espn nhl hockey aka nhl 2k4 is my favourite and i own nhl 2k8 for ps2 but that game is trash) and ordered copy of the game. But if i download this file, does it do anything to my other save files in other games so i need to create backup files for them. I'm very new to these things and i bougth ps3 just about two months ago, so that's why i migth sound like 0 iq guy, but just for guarantee, let's ask smarter people.

No year of any sports game will ever create saves that in any way interact with other years of that or any other sports games. And certainly not across consoles.

            - Player photos are no longer automatically removed. They can still be removed manually (Batch > Remove Player Photos).

            - Option to leave historic, national and all-star teams intact when executing "Empty All Rosters".

            - Action that adds Veteran status to players based on age.

            - Franchise-mode action that detects good prospects and gives them NHL contracts (the computer has a habit of not signing its best draft picks).

            - Option to skip the active team when executing "Retirement Status" and "Re-assign salaries".

Download from the first post. Report problems here, as usual.
Not sure if ever possible with 2k but the ability to edit career stats would be another game changer. I currently have an app dev contact working on a new NHL Legacy editor and one thing we've/he found is the ability to edit career stats such as goals, assists and playoff info, which when creating newer modern day rosters is invaluable part of the experience.

Is this compatible with the Xbox 360 Emulator Xenia? That's what I use to play 2K8 and the editor seems to not be working for me.

It is. Perhaps you're opening the wrong file. Or maybe you haven't used Horizon to resign it yet.

This could also help my NHL All Stars rosters, as not all real players have career stats that match the fake players in them (for example, I used Curtis Joseph and Ed Belfour, whose careers began in 1989-90 and 1988-98, respectively, to represent fictional goalies whose NHL careers began in 1990-91)

Remember to save often and to keep backups of your save files when using this editor.

I'm not able to maintain this actively anymore. Questions and bug reports are still welcome in this thread, but I can't guarantee I'll find time to answer.

                    Features for roster makers:

                    - Remove old player photos (it's automatic for Roster files).
                    - Change any player's head to any of the more than 450 3D models that exist in the game.
                    - Stop the commentators from calling players by the wrong names.
                    - Add or remove Elite, Veteran and Enforcer status.
                    - Spreadsheet import and export for any number of players or whole rosters.
                    - Global attribute edits (absolute, relative, scaled).
                    - Copy and paste attributes from one player to another, even between save files.
                    - Fast editing: click a value to edit it, and use the tab key to cycle through attributes.
                    - Edit lines, move players and control lineup status (dress, scratch, minors, etc.).
                    - Delete a player entirely so that he does not even appear in the free agents list.

                    For franchise-mode players:

                    - Draft class editing and sharing (via importable spreadsheets).
                    - Edit player contracts individually (or re-balance salaries for all teams)
                    - Freely edit non-player teams.
                    - Recover players from the waiver wire and unblock players "stuck" on waivers.
                    - Force players into retirement, or stop one from retiring.
                    - Reset player fatigue (helps with back-to-back games, for example).
                    - Set player morale/happiness.
(Season mode save files are also supported.)

                    Save-file repair:
                    - Fix game freezes caused by a player being signed to more than one team.
                    - Fix game freezes caused by an RFA's Holdout or Unsigned status.
                    - The editor rebuilds the free-agent list when you save, which corrects some freezes.

                    Console support:

The editor now supports both the PS3 and XBox 360 versions of NHL2K8. Roster, Season and Franchise-mode saves from both consoles can be opened and edited (as of version 0.14). No additional software is needed for use with the PS3, but XBox users will need to use software that supports save-file injection, like Horizon, Modio, or Velocity, along with the editor.

Rosters can be safely migrated between the two consoles using the Spreadsheet Export/Import function. (Roster saves created on one platform (PS3/360) can in fact be loaded directly on the other, but doing so will cause player equipment to become discolored, so the spreadsheet method is recommended.)

                    System requirements

The software should run on Windows, Linux and Mac (I haven't tested it on a Mac). For Windows and Mac, the Java 8 framework (or higher) must be installed first. If you don't have it, it's free to download here. The minimum Windows version for Java 8 is Vista.

For Linux users, there are two sets of requirements depending on what version of Linux you use. Some versions of Linux run the editor with only Java installed, but other versions (like Ubuntu) also require Open JFX to be installed. (In Ubuntu, you can easily install Open JFX by opening a terminal and keying in sudo apt-get install openjfx.)

                    Running the editor

For Windows, the program should execute on double-click. If not, either .jar files are associated with a program other than Java, or Java 8 or better is not installed.

For Linux, usage varies. On Lubuntu at least, you can execute the program by right-clicking the file and choosing "OpenJDK Java Runtime". Again, Java/Open JFX must be installed first!

Latest download link (March 26, 2023):

This editor comes without ANY warranty. Use it at your own risk. By using the editor, you also agree to the terms of use (see "Help", "Terms of use" in the app's main menu).

                    Version 0.19:
                    Windows users, download here (.exe):
                    https://www.mediafire.com/file/nqhd67e96vbeclx/sno2k8.exe/file

                    Linux/Mac users, download here (.jar):
                    https://www.mediafire.com/file/u7ud4jtwxiaac1k/sno2k8.jar/file
Would it be possible to add in the ability to edit team information? I created a custom historic team in-game, but had to use two Os instead of zeroes because the in-game keyboard used for player and team names lacks any letters.

Welp, time to say good bye to that NHL 2K8 roster I was working on!

Context: I tried copying attributes from a created player to a bult-in player of the same position (Left wing) to save time with changing them.

Surely the hex editing I did to only change the names of some custom historic teams didn't lead to this, right? Right?

There had also been cases of duplicate players in the roster, which of course, the editor does not detect.

Been a long time player of 2k8 on 360, particularly franchise mode, and gotta say your Editor has been amazing to use, huge thank you!

Just curious to know whether player injuries can be fixed at all in the Editor? Have been previously putting players on waivers to remove the listed injury.

Can player photos be added via the editor?

And, what's the best way to assign a player from minors to the NHL without the Player card showing statistics from their minors season - i.e. games, goals, assists?

Yes, just change the player's status (dress, scratch, etc.) and the editor will automatically take care of eliminating the injury at the same time. You can then safely add the player back to your lineup.

No, once the photos are removed there's no way to restore them except going back to a default roster.

It is possible and I figured out how to do it a long time ago, but I just haven't been able to do any serious work on the editor in a long time.

You should defo think of adding this :-) I'm still experiencing photos being auto removed with the latest version of the editor FYI
