I would imagine its just to help protect your guy a bit, if you say hes out with a bad shoulder its easier for the opponent to try and go for that shoulder, upper body they still have an idea but it could be a hand/wrist/elbow/shoulder/etc.

Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
When did the "upper body" "lower body" injury classification start? It drives me a little batty sometimes when teams are so vague about injuries. Matt Duchene missed more than a month with a knee injury but I have yet to hear exactly what the injury was.
Obviously it's something the league allows teams to do because everyone does it, but why the reason for such secrecy?Comment

If Buffalo wins tonight (NYI), and Toronto/Winnipeg lose (NJ and Philly respectively), then they'll "only" be 5 points out.

That's what the loser point does. It makes you think you're closer than you actually are. The more telling number for Buffalo is 6 - the number of teams they have to jump to take the 8th spot.Comment

Hawks win.
Man that was a great game. Detroit and Chicago games hardly ever disappoint.

Bryz took a beating in the radio media today and tonight's performance isn't gonna help. Flyers tenacity against a team that they should easily handle deflected attention from another bottom 1/3 league goalie performance tonight.
Jagr gets the GW, but Briere was the one orchestrating it.....scrappy.Comment

Best case scenario there...Flyers get the win and the Jets get a point out of it. And holy **** at Pavelec's save on Voracek.Comment
