Just picked up Tiger and it's better IMO this year, but it's still too easy even on Tour Difficulty. Here's a few impressions

I've played 36 holes so far and here's the good, the bad, and the ugly. I've not really delved into the rivals mode much or online yet (waiting for someone who isn't a child or cheeser to play with. I don't play random games with anyone.)

The good
-Putting is harder than last years, but it's still to easy. You actually have to use meters and ball trail to make a putt. It's not like last year
-They finally have a professional left hander in Mike Weir YAY!!!!
-There are plenty of new options in the game face including voice, clothes, clubs and other things
-You can't zoom in to where you're shooting the ball. I like this much better
-Rivals mode is deep
-Four players online is always good
-Lots of courses

The Bad
Gamebreaker-This is a completely useless and hokey feature designed to bring the 10 year olds over from Halo. You tap A while in your backswing and the shot pretty much goes in, every single time

Game is still to easy, but it's fun

Online still has no voice chat function

The Ugly
No 480p mode for widescreen users which means the game is stretched out on widescreen tvs
Player models are ugly

If anyone has some questions, I'll try to answer them until some more folks get it.

Forgot one thing, just as in last years, you can turn off ball spin, power boost, and the gamebreaker meter off offline. I haven't checked for online yet.

Thanks for your time!! If you can see if the online settings are possible to turn off for everyone in the room that u set up....please let me know! Also...I'm assuming you have ps2? Voice should be in the xbox version...i would hope!

I have XBOX. What I was talking about was a voice chat feature, where you can click on a friends name in your friends list and voice chat with them to set up a game. It's not in there, at least on any of my friends name. You can't turn the gamebreaker, spin, and other BS off online. I just setup a match and unless I'm overlooking it, I don't see where to turn it off. Sorry guys, it's disappointing to me as well

Just delved into the Rivals mode. You start out lined up over a putt and once you sink it Tiger comes up to you and asks you if you want to be the best, and then takes you into the Rivals mode. It is a "cribs" type setup with a menu entry for messages,pro shop, achievements, and other assorted items. The first contest I got was a long drive contest, so apparently it's more than just match play this year. Also, you supposedly go back in time and face the greatest in their day. It looks like the legends are Tiger, Palmer, Nicklaus, Tom Morris, and Ben Hogan. Seve and Gary Player are gone I guess, or I haven't seen them yet.

Nice impressions... pretty much what I was expecting from the game. I'm a sucker for this series, so I'm sure I'll be picking it up.

Do they still have the RTE's throughout the year? I always thought that was a nice feature... and, some of those events were the most challenging rounds in the game. Thanks for the write up.

I was just wondering if theres any way to turn the game difficulty up? I'm new to the series and I was wondering if you guys think I will like it. I'm a very relaxed golf fan if you can cal me a 'fan' at all. The only golf contact I have is a article here and there in SI and any golf games.

I'm afraid I haven't made myself clear. You can chat during the game, you just can't click on a friend's name in the messenger list and invite them to voice chat like in NCAA, Madden, and some of the other EA sports games. There's no voice chat option in the friends list menu.

Yes RTE's are back and there's still a lot of them. I like the Rivals mode a lot. I'm playing with old time clubs and struggling to hit the ball as far as before. Each era has a set of challenges as well as a playing each character before you get to the legend of that era. As soon as someone else gets it and jumps online, I'll be more than glad to check out the online mode, but not with a total stranger.

I alos picked it up and whats cool is that the difficulty online for tour mode shuts off power boast and spin, which I love. Just turning those off right off the bat makes it harder. Under standard difficulty, the boast and spin are on.

1. I would say the cutscenes and atmospere are very similar to last years.

2. So far I am having a great time playing single player, the only bummer is that it they have taken away the move forward/backward in your stance option during gameplay and replaced it with the right thumbstick shot trajectory, which you move the curser around the ball where you would like to hit it.

I hope people will give tour mode a try online and not get frustrated by the removal of this option. I have to admit, it did feel a little weird not to be able to spin and power boast under this mode since I have been during since its creation.
