I just can't seem to find an options menu for my player. Do I just have to play a normal 18 and set it to TOUR then and from that point on my guy will play on that level?Comment

Re: Console: Tiger Woods Impressions Thread
I have some new respect for how hard this game COULD be. I shot a 94 at Bethpage Black with all of the difficulties up(except I left putting grid on and no Tiger Proofing) and not using the putt camera. 41 on the front wasn't too bad, but those 500+ yard par 4's were too much.
At least the single player can be made difficult, I just don't think any of the PGA or Rivals games will actually be that hard.Comment

'the lag will continue until the '07 edition. We cant do anything about it as it is the result of a client end dilema'
Soooo.... it *sounds* to me like he's trying to say that it's the XBoxes and PS2's that are the problem here for not having what's needed on the "client" end to interact with their server. My client doesn't have any problem interacting with their servers on NCAA 2006, or Battlefield 2, or Tiger Woods 2005 for that matter! Why should it have a problem only with Tiger Woods 2006.
I'm usually not a pessimist, but I'd say we're sunk on this deal. I guess I'll just have to restrict my online play to tour mode dailies, which have been excellenet so far!Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: Console: Tiger Woods Impressions Thread
I'm starting to respect the single player of this game more and more...
I went through a few more Rivals things and I now have all of my stats at 3 or 4(with no equipment boosts). I have mostly been playing the PGA Season and I am getting stomped. I won the 2nd event of the year and I thought it would all be easy, but since I've played about 5 more and I've missed two cuts, finished last out of the players who made the cut, finished 30-40 range and finished 13th. I actually think it's unfair for the human in some of the tournaments because they move you back to the Tiger Tees for the last round and the game becomes MUCH tougher, but the CPU players still shoot the same scores they were shooting the first three days.
I am loving the way the single player PGA Season is playing for the first time on a console in the last few years. I will probably end up creating a second character to take into the Rivals mode because it is apparent that you will have to max out your character to win in there. A small annoyance, but it's worth it IMO to get a playable PGA Season.
A few more comments...
-The shot shaping stick is useless. Completely useless. I try to hit under the ball all the time to get it to land soft and even have a little spin, but it doesn't work. It seems to be the exact same shot you would get without the stick but the game gives you a little bit of spin. The ONLY way this could be useful is if you max out your spin attribute and make a house rule to not use the post-shot spin button. With my spin at 4 it doesn't even slow the ball down when it lands on the green, I hope if I had a maxed out spin then the shot stick would at least give my ball enough spin to check up with my short irons. And why is there a shot stick on putts?
-It's inexcusable that if you go to a playoff in a PGA event you don't actually get to start a match play against the opponant. You just play a hole and after it's over you see what the person(s) you are "playing" against did, just ridiculous to ruin the most dramtic moments of a golf tournament. It would be like NCAA 2006 letting you play offense in overtime but simming the opponants turn of offense and it just pops up "you win" or "you lose" after it's done.
-You can be in 50th place to start the final day of a tournament and you will still tee off last. Another ridiculous oversight by EA here. The leaders should be well behind me, not 5 holes in front of me. Make me sweat it out if I put up a good score, don't let me see what the leader finished at while I"m still on hole 14. I don't understand how EA can ignore these things, they have been on all TW games as long as I have played them...
-If you are in the last group you should have the option to play with your playing partner for the round. Or at least it should automatically put him in your group if you are within a stroke or two of each other on the last 4/5 holes. Again this goes back to the drama of golf thing, there isn't much more exciting than goign into the final 3 holes at a major tied with your playing partner, why doesn't EA give us that excitement?Comment

Re: Console: Tiger Woods Impressions Thread
I have come to find out there is "reactive" CPU scoring for the PGA events, pretty impressive. I've continued to be not so good in my PGA Season, but I came up to the Troon event. Troon has got to be the easiest course on the game(by far actually), and I go out and shoot a 57 the first day, and lead by about 5 strokes. I invision three more days scoring in the low 60s and an easy win like I would have seen in previous years.
Not so fast sweethart.....after the first hole of round two I see David Toms posted a 54 and I start the day 10 back. This continues for the rest of the tournament, I just started the final round and the leader is done and sitting at 50 under par! 50!!!!! By a CPU player!
This is pretty great IMO, there are some courses that you will tear up even without high stats, but in previous years you would run away with the tournament. This year they say screw realism, we're putting 10 guys at -40 or better just to make it hard on you.
Of course I would rather have a more realistic game, but the way they at least made this year's tournaments interesting is really nice IMO.Comment

Re: Console: Tiger Woods Impressions Thread
Continuing the thoughts about having playing partners. I played the first tourney of the year, and was also suprised to see players will scores in the low 60s and high 50s. I never broke 60 myself, but still managed to tie for the lead by eagling 18 (after a double bogey on 17 that almost cost me the tourney).
There were 3 people tied for the lead. I made par on the first playoff hole, and that's it. It told me I finished second, but didn't tell me which of the other guys won, or what they did on the playoff hole. I figured someone probably made birdie, since on my birdie putt, McCord said "This is for the tie." Then again, when I lined up my par putt, McCord said "This is for the tie," so I was a bit confused.Comment

As for McCord, he is always saying the wrong thing at the end of the rounds. I have been 5-10+ strokes behind and on the 18th green he will say "this putt to tie the leader!" Maybe it means tie the lead for the low round of the day, but there is definitely a bug there.Comment

Re: Console: Tiger Woods Impressions Thread
Anyone know the last TW game to have actual people and galleries in it (on console)?
Also, has TW ever featured a Caddy in the game? Not "Caddy Tips," but an actual caddy that follows you around.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

Haven't tried out online play yet. I've been having too much fun with Rivals Mode and the Tour. Maybe this weekend I'll dig up my PS2 Network Adapter and give it a shot.Comment

I haven't really gotten into Rivals mode much, just enough to travel back in time and beat the first opponant.Comment
