Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
You think the putting is harder?, i think it is FAR easier than last year, because you have immaculate distance control with the new putting systemComment

Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
QFT! What in devil is the putting meter doing on in the Pro Tour difficulty level anyway!? It has a place in Pro, it takes too much intuition and skill out of the game! I believe EA Sports will ultimately regret even having the meter available for use in Tour Pro. baa7 is right, the game play is much more intruguing with that blasted meter off!Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

I play with neither the meter or the grid lines, but can see why some would.Comment

Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
Just finished a tournament at Hazeltine National and the winner was Paul Casey at -13 he shot 63 on Sunday. Two players were at -11 and the rest didn't get to -10. I shot +1Comment

Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
What's with you guys. This is a complete game killer for season mode. I have the Wii version and it's doing the exact same crap, there's nothing about it being challenging. It's complete AI ******ation. I'll shoot anywhere from 65 to 75 on advanced mode but if I'm close to the lead the leaders will shoot 10 under on the last day and it's virtually impossible for me to win because I can't shoot 59 the way I have the attributes for my golfer. I wanted to keep it realistic but the AI doesn't allow that. I
It's like EA is saying is if you want to win you have to get max stats and hit 400 yard drives and be as arcadey as possible. If you're on the highest level they should have the leader shoot a -12 regardless if you shoot -22 or +22. They do this for every golf game since the 1st PC games a dozen years ago and EA can't figure this out. How ******** can they be with this.
EA shouldn't allow to build your golfer to be superman and therefore have reasonable leaderboards. How hard can that be, it's not rocket science. If no one complains about it and gamers use the ridiculous "challenge" excuse, EA wil never change it.Comment

Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
I'm going back to my experience with Links 2004. It didn't have a putting strength meter in its most advanced mode of difficulty and it felt right. A lot of the players who are carving up the Tour Pro mode Dailies to the tune of 18 and 19 under par say that they actually find precision putting easier than classic putting because the meter allows them to dial in the exact distance they've calcutated.
I say this because I think removing the meter in the game's hardest difficulty level would help bring the scores a little closer to reality. The same elite players would dominate, but it would probably increase their scoring average 5%, or so.
The meter has a place in Pro mode for sure, but even there, I think EA Sports is wise to allow the Pro mode player to turn it off. What I'm seeing already taking shape is a division of the Tour Pro players between meterless and metered putting. This group is probably only 10 to 15% of the user base and I hate seeing it get factionalized further.

Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
I'm seeing the crazy scores in season mode as well. At Torrey Pines, Mickelson won with a total of -30 for the 4 day total. Then, next tourney at Pebble Beach, Tiger won with a -26 score. That's nuts and those of you that are bashing this guy for giving good and well deserved criticism are full of it. How can EA expect human players to compete with that stuff, even on the high difficulty levels that I am sure we're all playing on. That is completely bogus.Last edited by fantasysportsguy; 06-15-2009, 09:42 PM.Comment

Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
Its a justified rant. Through 2 tourneys playing on Tour Pro, I'm seeing the same thing. I struggle to stay a good say 5 or 6 under par and the AI has no issues scoring 20 or more under par. I'm sorry its a game breaker and its not realistic. Why bother if you know you have no chance of ever winning a tournement in season mode? Seriously debating trading this back in which sucks because I love the gameplay this year.Comment

I play offline only (not that I am against online, and would like to try it with this game, it just isn't a priority of mine.
You ought to be in good shape for the Weekly that's taking place right now! It's at Bethpage Black with the grids off! I didn't realize how bad I was at reading slope without a grid. There were times were not only did I misjudge the break, I misjudged that actual direction of the break. This is where local knowledge would really be of value. I can see some time playing a practice round would pay dividends.Comment
