The Plantation Course at Kapalua is as incredible as advertised. Pictures and what you see on TV during The Sentry do not do this course justice.

A month or two ago I actually swapped in a SM10 D Grind 60° in favor of the HiToe 60° that I had become so used to. Was actually a solid move for what I do with the lob wedge.

Now just waiting on my new P770 short irons to be delivered in a couple weeks.

The 430 product line is awesome. If I wasn't a head case/obligations and had to play a full product line of woods it'd easily be the G430 woods.

As far as how I like a 7 wood, it's the perfect club. I always fought with a 3 hybrid on getting ideal height. Then in 2020 I put a G410 7w in the bag on a random suggestion, had no idea what it was going to do. When it comes to total distance, under ideal conditions, 7w and 3hy are the same. I just need to rely on roll out from a 3hy, which isn't reliable into greens. 7w for me is my 210 carry club, my total distance with that thing is like 215 at most. I hit it so high I've literally gotten it to sit in its pitch mark. I love it. More amateur golfers need to seriously consider 7 woods. I do my best to get more in people's hands.

I love my 7 wood. Had a PXG 0211 before it broke at the hozel. I now have an 0311 XF.

Well, won our sales contest to make the pilgrimage to Oakmont, PA again this year. Kehlis is going to be mad at me. What a delight it always is. **** that’s a hard track though. Gonna be an absolute bloodbath at next year’s US Open. Heard some rumblings about the Saturday set up, dear god.

Well Wednesday we got 9 holes in, I shot 40, and then watched it thunder and lightening, with no rain, for the next few hours, squashing our back nine plans.

However, after a nice filet over dinner, a bunch of drinks, and a late night on the porch just off the house by 18’s green, I got a quality range session in yesterday morning. Something just felt right. I bogeyed #1, and just settled in from there. Fired a 39 on the front, felt great. Come in with a 38 with 11 putts on the back. Something special happened. I’ve shot three straight 83’s there. Didn’t know if sub 80 would ever happen. But the golf gods gave me a 77 with everything coming together.

Some views. The view from my bedroom window yesterday morning was pretty sweet.

Nice! How far did you drive it on 18 (or whatever that hole is where the tour guys are piping it like 400+ on the rollout)?

I have been thinking about putting a 3-hybrid in the bag to cover my 190-200 "hole", but I'll consider the 7-wood as I generally don't hit hybrids all that well for whatever reason.

Thanks for the photos. Looks amazing.

Amazing round! If I ever went sub-80 at a Championship Course, no one who knows me would ever hear the end of it for the rest of my life. Heck, I went sub-80 from the white tees at my local muni one time and busted everybody's chops about it for months afterwards.

Hybrid is a solid play, but if you struggle with them or tend to miss them left at all, it is definitely worth giving a high lofted fairway wood a shot.

It really was crazy. I'm down to a 5.9 these days. I have gone 79, 77, 79, 79, 80, 80, 84, 78, 78, 79 over the last 5 weeks, so I'm feeling good. But to be able to do that on a track that difficult was an out of body experience. Just one of the days where everything was clicking. If I had that game at one of my local courses, I'm probably shooting level par or a couple over. Obviously my boy BP who was on the bag helped a lot in terms of lines off the tee and pace on the greens. But it was still crazy. I've had a couple 74's this season, but that's easily my best round this year and probably of the last couple years.

That is awesome, BD. Happy that you're on such an amazing streak - maybe this is your new normal!

I'm not scoring any better, but I'm feeling a lot better recently about my game than I have in a while. I feel like if I can continue to compound incremental improvements, that will eventually show up in my scores. Anyway, I'm hitting it better and for now, I'll take it!

Honestly, I can pinpoint the exact thing in my game that has made this heater happen. While I did pick up some distance on the driver this year, I've always been really good with my fairway woods, my putting has always been the best part of my game, and my iron play is very average. The absolute, unequivocal part that made my game better is how much I've improved my wedge game. It's the biggest thing I focus on during the offseason. I just try and keep the hands in a good place when I'm not playing.

I definitely need to work on my 100-yards-and-in game; it costs me so many strokes it's ridiculous.

Best advice I have is to start by just hitting wedges 75-80% to get your distance control and spin dialed in. I started doing that years ago. If I hit my gap wedge full it would be my 110-112 club, but I'll hit a flighted PW from 115. my SW would be 100 top end, but I'll flight GW from there, etc. I started doing that years ago to get some feel, and now it's actually a part of my stock number game. I feel more distance control and much more spin control that way.

Great tip. I have similar yardages to yours (mine are ~yards shorter but the principle is the same) and I will try this. I always hate trying to 'max' swing a wedge, because the variability in distance/spin is just too great. Hitting a reliable 75% shot is a good start toward getting more consistent there, which is where I lose most of my strokes on the course.

Yep, 18! This was the most frustrating moment of the round, which sucked to end on that note. The starter told me, "aim for the clubhouse". I played as a solo, so I forgot and no one was around to remind me.

Lost it in the rough to the left. Shot of the round came on the front nine; hitting the flag stick from 160ish out.

Played a couple of rounds last weekend before the kid's start their school sports and my golf season comes to an end. Went out on Friday and shot an 84 on a par 71 course. Played decent but couldn't hit a fairway off the tee. Putting was okay.

Round 2 was probably the best I have played in years. Started the first hole with a double and was thinking that it was going to be a long day. Ended up 2 over after 9 so was pretty happy with that turnaround. I was 1 under on the back nine through 17 and went to 18 needing a birdie to shoot a 71. Pulled my driver left in among the trees and and was stuck deciding if I should hit safely out and play for par or try and hook one around the tree and go for Birdie. Since I am not a pro and rarely shoot par or lower (3 times in my life) I decided to try the hook. Anyway, I hit a perfect shot and almost roll it in for Eagle leaving a 1 inch put for a 71!! It was one of the best rounds ever.

Of course next day i went out again and shot 87 so there's that.

Has anyone here ever dealt with "Golfer's Elbow"?

Ive played a lot of golf this year, but the past two weeks I have been getting forearm pain after hitting a few balls to start a round and then it just stays with me.

From my research, it is more than likely golfer's elbow. A friend of mine said it could be from hitting off the mat at the driving range (all of the ones here are mat only till spring now).

Has anyone dealt with this and, if so, what did you do to help it?
