      I also started at Advanced.

      It is the most realistic.

Chipping distance is the hardest for me.
Apparently as you add CONTROL points your distance control is greatly enhanced.

As for putting....try a smooth slow stroke.

It is very sensitive and responds best (just like real putting) with a good smooth TEMPO (in all swings actually).

I really feel like I do on the course sometimes with my putter in this game (because of the distance control).

      It's awesome....but a little tricky at first.

I agree with all of the other comments. I wasn't sure what to expect from this game, I love Tiger Woods but I wanted something that was a little more realistic. The whole changing spin in midair, and lack of wind effects really bothered me. Plus the fact that people shoot in the 40s gets kind of old.

Links has none of that. Advanced is really hard. The courses will make you think always one shot ahead. The backswing is not forgiving like Tiger, which I like because you actually hit bad shots in this game. The physics are great. Short puts are kind of hard, but I am starting to get the hang of it.

For you HDTV owners, it is in 16x9 and I found that on my Grand Wega, the graphics are quite a bit better than Tiger. It looks really good. I was actually surprised about how good this game looks.

Character creation is a lot better on Tiger. There needs to be more choices in Links. It is not bad, just not the greatness of Tiger. Also, I like the mini-games of Tiger better. This is something that MS needs to work on (hello Top Spin).

Links has impressed me greatly. I am very happy with this game. When XSN comes up for it, we will need to setup a OperationSports tourney. If you have a remote interest in golf, this is the game for you.

In a tournament do you play along with a cpu player matched up with you?

Wondering the same thing...it would be nice to have the CPU if the "fast trail" mode instead of having to watch it. Don't know if Links does it or not?
