Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions Thread
My experience with this game varies wildly. If I play a casual round in offline mode, there will be virtually no skipping, lagging, or jumping. I occasionally run into a little slowdown on heavily planted sections of various courses.
Online play of any sort, multiplayer, career or society, are highly variable. The more rounds I play, the worse the performance gets... up to the point where I have to work to get my golfer to start the backswing. The workaround is to simply quit the game from its launch icon on the "My Games" page, start the game again, and pick up where I left off. It'll usually play out the round with few incidents... until, I start another round without quitting.
I'm at the point now where if I'm playing online, I just quit the game entirely after one round, no matter what kind of round or mode of play it was, and restart the game from the launch menu for the next round. Yes, it's a hassle and doesn't seem like something one should have to do on a top of the line console in 2022, but that's the way it's working for me right now. Hopefully they'll get a handle on this and solve it in an update.
I can say that I've had the most extreme, love/hate relationship with this game than any other in the series. It has the potential to be the best in the series, but in its current state, 2K21 was a better playing game. I think there are least two more major updates in store for 2K23, so there's still hope.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions Thread
Totally agree with the love/hate aspect. I'm playing the hell out of it of course, I do love this series, but there have been a few times where I've gone to Amazon to see if it can be returned lol. I'm keeping it, but ya, there are aspects of this version that drive me nuts.
I'm really getting used to the swing timing, and I love that shots into the rough don't bounce out into the fairway nearly as much as 21. Graphics are slightly better, but so slight that I don't really notice the difference anymore.
I'm on PS5 and haven't had any of the issues you guys are talking about, either offline or online, not sure what that's about, but you guys definitely should not have to restart the game after every round. There's definitely gotta be some patches coming that fix that and the incredibly difficult green side bunker shot issues. When I play 1v1 matchmaking, it happens to the random player I'm playing as well, so it's not just me. It often takes 2 or 3 shots to get from the bunker to within 10 feet of the pin. If you're not dead perfect, it punishes you way too much.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions Thread
I haven’t had the issues people are talking about either, like golfnut, and I’m on PS5, too. However, I’m strictly an offline player.
Of course I’d like to see some of the game’s issues fixed, and along with PS5 taking advantage of what the next gen console(s) can do, it would be nice if this was a yearly title. We wouldn’t have to wait for 2K25 to see what this game could really be.
On a side note, it would be nice if they did like NBA 2K and updated face scans. NBA 2K did new ones for their cover athletes, and IMO Tiger Woods looks pretty bad in-game.

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions Thread
^^ good point about the face scans, and I'll add to that.
One thing that 2k21 had going for it as far as player animations, maybe the ONLY thing, is that the "walk" looked real. When they showed the player on the cut scenes, in spite of the wonky faces and teeth, the stroll and walk seemed very real and natural.
In this version, everyone kinda walks with a Neanderthal-ish gait, with their crotches pushed out lol. Very stiff and unnatural looking. Am I the only one that sees that? Like they are lumbering to walk with heavy legs. Awkward looking.Last edited by golfnut67; 11-04-2022, 05:22 PM.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions Thread
Sometimes the game works fine. I don't play much career just a bunch of the user created courses and I am always online. The game looks and plays much better than 21 in my opinion. I don't mind getting punished for mi****s out of bunkers it can be done though if you get in a bad position you most likely won't get up and down like IRL. I have come to grips with the putting and chipping and there are some putts you are better off not trying to make. You get a clown pin you're dead but if you play a course that is laid out fairly you won't run into too many problems. Getting the tempo down is very tough at least for me.
Liking the challenge of Master over Pro I don't mind grinding to try to shoot close to par I really don't see the fun in shooting low 60's but that's me.
Let's hope we don't lose the designer when they move off of Unity.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions Thread
I'm on Series X and haven't had any of the graphical issues or framerate dips. Game has been pretty dang smooth other than the game crashing a handful of times. I've definitely seen the screen tearing with some of the youtubers on PS5 especially in the instant replays.Texas Rangers/Saints/LSU/Tottenham Hotspur

I probably own about 10-15 series X games & 2K23 is nowhere near the level of those games.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions Thread
I've owned all of the games in the series and did get the occasional crash but the newest version has crashed more in the couple of weeks that I have owned the game than all the others combined. I will say that it is by far the best playing and looking game they have put out yet.
I don't know where they are going with the series but the group that worked on this needs to go.Comment

Not one single issue on my end, knock on wood. For the sake others, hope they get the issues fixed asap and not let things drag out.
