Haven't played in a few days, but tonight went back to mycareer mode to start a 2nd season.

First hole, landed in the bunker (Pro). It took me *6* shots to get up and down. Everything is slightly fast on my downswing timing, but I'm being punished to the point where the ball goes maybe 4 feet and then rolls right back down the sand hill to my feet.

They have to adjust this or I'm just going to lose interest. I shot par the rest of the round, didn't hit any more green side bunkers, but I'm sure if I had, I would have had more issues like the first hole. I get that it needed to be harder than 21, chipping out of green side bunkers and the fringe was way too easy even on Pro, but this is ridiculous.

Green speeds and slopes are the only issues I have right now. I shouldn’t need a special ball to stop the ball from rolling off the green after only hitting 15% power with only 2 foot downslope.

I have seen one very good YT player using the Flop out of the sand. When the lip is low he was chipping out. Not one to cheese I use Splash results be damned.

Are you using the caddy recommended distance or are you adjusting? If the lip of the bunker is elevated I play it like an uphill shot and add quite a bit of distance and have had very few issues with green side bunkers since.

Same here. And the worst offenders of this are the official, real-life courses. East Lake was bad in 2K21, and it still is in 2K23, but now there are other courses with awful pin locations and impossible-to-hold greens.

I tried playing the RBC Canadian Open last night in career mode, and I use the default difficulty settings in terms of course conditions. St. George's is a pain in the @$$...pins stuck on huge yellow slopes, chip and putts running for years, etc. It's not fun whatsoever, and I don't really know if there's anyway to avoid it, as the conditions are already set fairly low/"easy". Even the consumable golf balls don't seem like they'd make a difference.

I think Wilmington CC has some of these issues, too.

EDIT - just had some shocking pins at TPC River Highlands, too. So frustrating.

PS4. About had it at this point. Golfer can't take the club back numerous attempts by the time I can get him to execute a backswing any rhythm is gone. Happens on green side chips too golfer can only take the club back all the way it's like someone is holding the club preventing me from taking it back. Buggy pos.

Try playing without tempo at a higher skill level. I did that and it solved that backswing problem.

I am playing Master and don't want Tempo to not matter. Today is the worst multiple freezes the whole 9. If I uninstall the game and reinstall will I lose everything? Clothing Level Career everything or what?

Are you using the caddy recommended distance or are you adjusting? If the lip of the bunker is elevated I play it like an uphill shot and add quite a bit of distance and have had very few issues with green side bunkers since.

I always do this, even in 21. Almost every shot from around the green, I always extend the marker beyond the hole, or even if it's very uphill, club up and pull back a bit. The problem I'm having is being severely punished for being slightly fast. To the point to where it seems even if I used a friggin lob wedge out of the sand from 18 yards out it would still only go 6 feet.

I'm not seeing a lot of posts that are expressing the same frustration I'm having out of the green side bunkers, so I guess it's just me and I need to keep at it and get my downswing tempo perfect every time or suffer the consequences. It just seems way out of whack to me compared to every other shot on the course.

Splashes do well if you are over 30yds out.
Anything less than that though …. Chip away!

Good info. Can you tell me what club you would use if you were say, 18 yards from the pin from the sand? I've just been using the caddie given club and moving the marker beyond the pin. Hoping that using a pitching wedge or lob wedge is much more forgiving? I'm guessing using a bigger chipping club would have to be drastically pulled back, but it's easier to get up and down if you're slightly off tempo?

I just went to the practice facility and set up 20 yard bunker shots. I used a lob wedge to chip, with max backspin applied. Hit some fasts, very fasts, slows, very slows, and even some perfects, and was always within 10 feet of the hole. I didn't change the intent at all from what the game gave me, and I had a 65-73% lie each time.

I then tried hitting some splash shots...same lie, same club, same situation. No change in intent, full backspin applied. Was able to get close when I hit a shot with good tempo, but anything even in gray fast/slow would be duffed and barely make it out of the sand.

Basically, I'd use the same club no matter if I'm chipping or splashing in this case. However, the forgiveness on chip shots is miles ahead of the forgiveness on splashes.

Thanks very much Arlington. Great info. I'm going to the practice range and will work on exactly what you said. Sounds like the key is to use the lob wedge.

I figured what the heck. Doing Fittings and Skills. Now how can I Upgrade? I only see an option for exchanges. I've done quite a bit already leveled up most of the categories Power all that. I would like to take 3 lesser fittings and Upgrade them for one fitting one level higher but I don't see an option to do that. I have been able to take 3 unwanted fittings and exchange them for one random fitting the same level but can't upgrade. Anyone know how to do this?

This is what it is in PS4/5:

In the same screen you're using to exchange, you need to press the Triangle button. This changes it from "Exchange" to "Upgrade". Then, choose the 3 fittings you want to use to upgrade to the one in the level above it. Lastly, hold Square until the circle completes, and you'll get the upgraded fitting.
