There's a fairly large gap between the two, as there was a game released in between (PGA 2K21).

PGA 2K23 has a rival system with real pros that allows you to unlock rewards, like clubs and clothing. PGA 2K23 also allows you to swap courses that host many of the fictional events, but they have to be from a curated list that is set by the game devs.

2K23 also allows your character to have a sponsor in 3 separate categories: golf ball, clubs, and clothing.

2K23 also has a lot more real events at real courses, has sudden death playoffs (that do not work all the time), more stat tracking, trophy presentations, and settings to adjust. The career mode in 2K23 has some positives that are enjoyable for a while, but it does get repetitive after a season or so, in my opinion.

Is it me or is the swing tempo broken? Have recalibrated several times which does not help at all. No matter what I do am always way too fast which was not the case before a couple days ago. Anyone else having trouble?

This is a recent topic of discussion over at TGC. Most think this is server based.

I'm having a lot of trouble with this here over the last two weeks. I hit a "Very Fast" (as in off the meter) tempo drive so badly off the first tee of a tournament round last week that the ball went 83 yards, duck-hooked, and never got more than 5 feet off the ground. The next shot with a 3 hybrid was almost as bad, but it at least went 100 yards. I then had a very slow tempo swing out of nowhere on the back 9 that put another drive OB, with only 135 yards of carry.

I'm seeing it more and more frequently. It's getting very frustrating and I'm rapidly losing patience with it. I also jump back and forth between the PC version and XBox Series X version. I've got the PC version running at 1080p, but it's able to maintain a steady 60 FPS. I see the problem far less frequently on the PC version, due to much more stable frame rates. This is why I'm hoping for a 60 FPS performance mode in the Series X version of EA Sports forthcoming game. I don't care if I have to give up 4K res, I'd much rather have a steady frame rate for the fidelity of the analog swing.

Try playing a local round offline and see how it goes. If it's a server problem that would eliminate it.

I haven't been playing often but I got back into it this weekend, and almost every single one of my shots was way fast. I figured it was because I was so rusty. Maybe there's something else to it.

I played 5 rounds, not one of them under par on Pro, just playing career mode by myself. I'm thinking of just going back to pro-am for how little I play it, and my buddy that I play with plays on pro-am anyway.

On Pro you just have to play all the time to consistently get that downswing tempo right in this game. It's very unforgiving.

Try 3 click you got nothing to lose.

Curious what archetype most are using. I started with Rhythm went to Powerhouse but settled on Sculptor. Seems a bit easier to be consistent.

Does Sculpter seem to be more forgiving on the fast/very fast shots verses Rhythm? I picked Rhythm for obvious reasons, to make it a bit easier not to constantly fade or hook. If you're saying Sculpter is a bit better I'll surely give it a try.

If you play 3 click the final click gives you a chance to adjust mistakes made on the second click. You can close or open the face to limit the penalty on a missed swing path but you do lose some distance. I just score better on Sculptor it might have something to do with improving over time. I found the distance penalty for the Driver a bit too much using Rhythm since I always play the back tees.

Thank you. I might pick up the game. Do different clubs change your game or is it only a visual change?

The club brands (TaylorMade Sim, Callaway Rogue, etc.) don't make any difference. But you can apply fittings that change various attributes. So the brands and club models are just visual.

I guess it might be safe to say that Gareth Bale will be coming to PGA 2K23 at some point:

Not sure what you mean by this...are you saying you bought 2k23, and don't like it more than GC2019? If so that doesn't make a lot of sense lol. 2k21 and 23 are much better looking and playing games than GC2019.
