Re: Official: who has Forza 2 with impressions only please

I have it and I'll attempt some impressions.

It's obviously the sequel to Forza, with many things remaining the same and slightly polished. The career mode is very similiar. You pick your region and your car selection is based on that region. You begin with 11,000 credits and can choose from the D class. I chose the Chevy Cobalt.

This game is crazy deep, almost intimidating. And, if you haven't played the original Forza, it could quite possibly be a turn off. You go in thinking, "Oh cool, I'll upgrade my car to make it faster, but then you get to where you select different parts, etc. and it's a bit overwhelming, but with time and patience, it proves to be fun and adds excellent depth.

The graphics are identical to the demo. The framerate is excellent. Yes, there are some jaggies, but I think they are being exaggerted a bit. The lighting and reflections are great, giving the cars a nice grounded look.

If you wreck your car, there is some neat malfunctions. For instance, I hit the wall hard with my Z28 and from there, the transmission was all gaffed. It's not just alignment damage.

Online has the Auction House, which already has a bunch of specialty paint job cars up (mostly Japanese, and I'm clueless as to what they represent). There's Forza TV and that let's you view races that are currently going and the some that are marked 'Featured.' I don't know how the get labeled featured. The online matches are bulked up with all kinds of options.

I'm not a racing nut, but I do enjoy it and know some things about the sport. I think Forza 2 does a great job of giving you a lot to work with in getting your car at its best performance. For IgN to say this game has no soul is complete ignorance. There's just so many thing you can do to give your car character.

I'd say Forza 2 is one of the first 360 games that can be truly called next-gen.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I have played with only the controller. I have the MadCatz wheel, not the MS one. I plan on trying it tonight. From the demo, I felt the wheel adds to the difficulty.

I've played the game online and wow is it crazy fun. Sebring is top notch and Turn 10 did the track justice. One thing that I love about the game that others complain about is the car feeling "tight" as in it doesn't want to turn. This is not Gran Turismo where you can go flying pedal to the metal and all of a sudden hit the brakes and turn brilliantly at the same time. If you do that you'll go off the track.

I had a few races online and LMAO off when I brought a BMW M3 GTR to Sebring and everyone else brought the World Super Cars. I placed 3rd in that race, if the beemer had a little more power I might have placed 1st or 2nd. All in all it's a brilliant game, looks a little better than Forza 1 as it has that Forza 1 look and graphically doesn't come close to GT:HD on the PS3.

Okay, just picked the game up and now I'm going to go try it with the Microsoft Wireless Racing Wheel.

I just got home with my copy. Will be playing it after I eat supper. I have the MS wireless wheel, so I'll leave some impressions on how the game plays with this controller.

Raced a few races. The wheel doesnt give you enough feedback is my real big complaint. its a shame too becuase I really thought they were emphasising how great the feedback would be. Oh well, game plays good, but I have been spoiled by such great PC racing games that its hard to really call this is "great game". The depth is there, and Im sure online will be fun. overall, about what I was expecting.

Re: Official: who has Forza 2 with impressions only please

All I've done so far is six exhibition races (first in all of them) unlocking 18 cars, two time trials (two more cars), and about an hour of online racing (smooth with no glitches).

Having never played the first Forza, I'm pretty impressed. I really like the braking line (I know it was in the demo). The car selection is pretty damn big, but I'm already seeing a lot of folks picking the same vehicle online (the Mits Lancer VIII for example). I also ran out of gas on one 25 lap speedway race, as well as having my engine blow out (had to go around 5mph around the entire TRACK to get to the pits). Not sure what winning or losing regular (unranked) online races get you.

A pretty good game, but I'll have to rip some music to the HDD to spice up the regular racing...the engine sounds are just "eh".

Can't wait to play with some OS'ers w/o the online BS (come on, let's race with Mini's ).

game is DEEP. The amount of customization is crazy. Game works great with the 360 wheel. Works great with the controller too. I'm using the controller right now as I need a racing seat or something. Hard to drive with the wheel in my lap.

I used to love the Mini races. Minis+Nurburgring=12 minute lap awesomeness.

customizing cars is a game within itself. Nice they have letters now (and lots of em with different fonts). Much easier than piecing shapes together to spell something.

This sounds good that it works well with the MS Racing Wheel. DIRT was fun with the wheel and the demo of Forza 2 wasn't bad with the wheel either. Good news.

There's a track I was racing online today, I don't even know the name, but on one of the above bridges it read, "Power is nothing without control"

I think that sums it up.

Also, dear old Forza I "think" has the dynamic ad controls! Today on the NYC track it's advertising Prudential and Subway, next week/month...WHO KNOWS!
