I was actually coming here to post that it's 50% off starting today. I think mine might lapse towards the end of this year, so maybe I should go ahead and renew, too.

I'm very intrigued about iRatcing. To be able to compete in Seasons about how many additional tracks/cars do you need to purchase? I know a few are included in your membership, but not sure how far they would take you.

Also, I have a Thrustmaster T-80, but I'm really debating on upgrading to a T-300. It's hard to justify spending THAT much on another wheel/pedal set, but I feel limited in what I can do with the T-80.

            Thanks.

If you want to just stick to the rookie series, there's no need to purchase anything. Of course, you probably don't want to do that, but that's always an option.

Otherwise, it depends on whether you want to do road or oval or both. If you just do road or oval, you only need those tracks obviously. If you do both, it's going to be more costly. In addition, if you pick a particularly series (say, you like short-track oval racing) and only race Late Models, you wouldn't have to race as many tracks as maybe if you raced the Gen 6 or the trucks or whatever (the LM only races on short tracks). On road, I think you'll end up pretty much having to buy everything if you leave rookie as even the Skip Barber goes to big tracks like Spa and such. Of course, you don't necessarily have to have every track in a season and if you're willing to skip around some, you can probably get by a lot cheaper (for example, maybe you own the track the Skip Barber is racing one week, then a track the Spec Racer Ford is racing the next).

It's really hard to say, though. I'm not familiar with the T-80 or T-300 wheels, so I can't help too much there.

Looks like you already found it, but nevertheless, it is: PR-EARLYRENEWAL2015

Looks like my subscription was going to lapse in September, so I went ahead and renewed for the next two years.

I have a driving force gt wheel that I've barely used since I lost interest in GT5 years ago. Might pull it out and get a short subscription since it's been years now since I've tried any good racing. Might get a 3 months to give it a go as I'd hate to spend $50 and lose interest or not have enough time to really give it a shot.

Only 2 days in so probably a bit early to say much and I've only really been driving one car on one track to at least get some experience, but there are a lot of dingbats out there. Part of it is on me because after about 15 laps at Charlotte, my tires really fall off but can't really pit because I rarely see the leaders do so, and I'll lose it usually. The other problem is the morons in some of these races.

In one race last night I had two cars just slam right into each other racing for 3rd like 8 laps into the race. I was just behind in 5th and couldn't avoid it, wound up finishing 12th.

Then the next one, some ******* decides to wreck me on the pace laps! I don't really like their rating system where it doesn't matter who causes incidents. I can't really help it if someone turns me from behind. Still don't know what that dingbat was thinking. Probably cost me a top 5 as I still finished 8th essentially starting a half lap down. Just one clean race is all I ask.

Are you doing the street stocks at Charlotte? I did that in week 13 and it was fixed, for me the setup was tight in the beginning and as it went on it loosened up. I had to lift a little and be a little smoother with the wheel going into the corner but I made the tires last.

Yeah rookie is a blood bath sometimes and it gets annoying. Once you get above it the racing gets a lot better.

The trick is to get out of rookie as quick as you can. start from the pits if you need to and just click off safe laps until you progress to d-class. If you have great wreck avoidance and race craft you can fast track quite quickly to a higher license class. You can also use time trials to gain sr. The safety system while annoying is pretty fair and works the same for everyone.

Most people hate the safety system at first and after a while youll realize it works quite well even though sometimes it will feel unfair when you get punted by some $%^#

                              Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Well I was excited to get season 3 underway, but now I am just irritated. I hardly have time to play this game. I pretty much can fit one race in on Thursdays and then I am lucky to get another one in on the weekend. So today I did an hour of practice and entered the 1:15 race for the Skip Barber. I was 11th of 20 on the grid. After lap 1 I was in 7th. Halfway through the lap some other driver had spun and instead of letting me pass him, he tried to reverse back onto the track and destroyed my car. My race was over after 1.5 laps.

It's a joke that this has happened to me more times than not. I really want to enjoy this game and play it for a long time, but if over 60% of my races are going to include wrecks from guys coming back onto the track, maybe I just don't have the luck to race in this game. Literally every other race since I signed up has just about included me getting hit from someone coming back onto the track.

I don't care if I finish 1st or last. I just want a clean race and that literally seems impossible right now. I am getting punished from others being terrible drivers and thus I am being dropped in rating and being put around even more of these guys. It's irritating.

I wasn't supposed to race today. My second race went fine in the qualifying and everything, but off of the grid, my paddles stopped working. Got hit and had to start a lap down out of the pits. Haha, just a bad luck day.
