    Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Started 15th in the 11 AM Michigan race. Got a 4x early because the leader would not go at all. Everyone in a hurry behind me stacked up and I got ran into. I probably could have tried to go to avoid it but then I'd hit the next guy and just a big mess.

I got up to 8th from there, early caution, took 4 tires. Then I got as high as 3rd and felt great... and then just couldn't keep it up. Car got tight, I couldn't do anything I did just a few laps before. I fell all the way back to 11th, and then fell a little further and got in a feisty group. At some point, someone got underneath me in turn 1 and he went out of view so I thought he had dropped down the track like most do in the turn. Nope, he was still there and my spotter didn't give me enough info so we wrecked. Completely my fault, just wish I had gotten more from my spotter and not sure why the other guy was trying to ride so high when he had a car above him in the turn as I was already in the 3rd/4th lane. Had I kept going, I probably could have pitted and tried something different but I just could not run fast laps after the first 10-15 laps in a run and it cost me.

Still bothered me how many cars would slide up in front of me into a turn and then just get out of the gas. It really messed with my line. There is no way that is how it's done. Slide up on a straightaway sure, but not in a turn. Probably my last NiS race for the time being unless I pick up a short subscription around Charlotte.

Ok just a quick question for you all. Just purchased the gen 6 Chevy is there no session races like it is for the other vehicles. Ex trucks races happen every 15mins after the hour. I'm so confused.

Which license you trying to run? The A class runs every couple hours. The NiS which I believe is class C only runs 3-4 times a week depending on if your running fixed or open. I myself find it kinda stupid since I can't run any of those times. But other's seem to love it.

The Nascar iRacing Series (Which is for D 4.0+ drivers and above) only runs at specific time slots during each week. I'm not 100% sure when the races are, but the NiS fixed has one on Thursday night US time, then Saturday morning and around noon, as well as one on Sunday night. The open series runs different days/times, but I have no idea when.

You have to wait until you get to Class A (or B 4.0+) before you can run the regular races that go off every two hours.

Yeah, kind of sucks if you can't make the race times, but it works out great for those who can.

Yeah never have understood iracings thinking. Only running at certain day's & time's is a league thing. It'd be one thing if NiS was exact same as the A class but believe normally NiS are longer races.

It's probably because they want those iRacing series races full. Concentrate the times and you'll get 30 car fields. Also the distance. Only so many times you can schedule 200+ mile races in a week and get a turn out. I wish there were more on the weekend, though. I can do the 5 AM because I wake up at 4:30 every day, but then it means racing Europeans with poorer connections. Saturday at 11 is harder if I have stuff to do or want to do horsebetting that weekend. And I'm not prepared to do the open series yet, but at least then I could race Friday night or Sunday morning.

I wish they offered time trials. At least then I can get some practice and maybe improve my SR... then again, the way I wreck that car sometimes, probably a good idea they don't exist.

Yeah it is kinda disappointing that they don't have more races. At least do the fixed races like they do with the trucks. I bet they would have s better turn out then they think.

The open is even worse than fixed. Only run 3 times a week. Two 9pm EST and 10AM EST Sunday morning. Doesn't work too well for a guy that has to be at work at 5AM EST Monday thru Saturday. Lol

Hopefully they add another open slot next season. Either way doubt I'll buy the cup car till then. Got plenty to keep me busy with DW12, Truck and xFinity.

The second sentence pretty much answers the first. The whole idea of the series is to get a bunch of people running together at the same time. It'll be the same thing with the new IndyCar series next season.

The difference is the truck races take what, 30 minutes?

In NiS you're looking at at least 100 minutes (not including qualifying 15 minutes before the race starts) and in some cases much more. You're not going to get a big turnout when a ton of the people who would be racing are either in a current race, or just just finished up 90 minutes worth of racing.

                          Re: iRacing after 2+ years

I was planning on racing later, but I decided to do an early Gen6 race tonight.

Had the speed, but just like my last race, I burned the RF up too much and fell back during our long green flag run. We had an early caution, then went green from lap 14 to the end. Starting with about 20 laps to go I was sitting there going "please be a yellow, please be a yellow" over and over again. Too bad we don't have a "throw water bottle out the window" option, as I would have used it right about then.

Sadly the yellow didn't come and I ended up falling from 5th to 12th over the final 15 laps. I got the "your right front tire is wearing" or whatever it is with about 5 laps to go, and ended up in the low 40s for wear in the pit screen.

I did enjoy the racing I had. At one point I think we were 2 wide 3 rows deep running 5th for 2 or 3 laps. Tons of fun. Maybe one of these days I'll get a late caution or figure out how to not burn up the RF and I'll get a decent finish out of this thing.

So this is a dumb question, but I'm trying to figure out the most tape I can have on so what is the temp that an the engine will start to lose power at?

Someone else might have a better idea, but I think as long as your gauges aren't flashing you should be good to go.

Raced my first open race last night in the Trucks. Really good race, opened up by staying green for half the race. Think that's the most green flag racing I've seen to start a race. Lol didn't have much for the leaders but setup felt more stable over the fixed setup.
