picked this up for the pc on steam. i bought this to give me a break from iracing and so far am having a blast. i bought f1 2010 and had fun with it but some of the bugs ruined it for me. Im glad to say 2011 is totally opposite and i couldnt be more pleased with the result. The a.i is greatly improved and the snap oversteer is gone, you can actually here and feel the car starting to lose grip and as long as you correct it quickly can recover from a slide. Straying off the opt line as others have said can cause some problems, the dirt, grass , marbles or debris can be picked up by your tires and you feel the difference for a little while. i started on proffesional with no assists and in qualifying it is def a challenge to have a top time. I will be starting my career tonight and see how the lower team cars run in comparison to the top teams. so far id say 8.5/10 after a few quick races.

China was a great weekend from start to finish.
Car was up in the top 10 in practice and then came qualifying where I thought I had a good lap, until I got out of the car and saw I was only 18th fastest
Another Banzai effort put me up on pole by .008 of a second. I was dumbfounded on how I found that much speed but somehow the little Force India did it.
Race was satisfying also, had a good car that kept me there though I was out motored by everyone there at the track it seemed. Had to keep using KERS on the 2nd to final straight to keep cars at least behind me without radically blocking everyone.
Ended up finishing in 7th for the race. Was pretty pleased at my drive, kept myself in check and kept the car on the road without spinning out or getting myself way over my head.
Very very happy with this game looks like NHL 12 may be collecting dust for a bit.Xbox Gamertag: mryaz88Comment

To those of you who bought this on the consoles, did you trade in f12010 towards it? If so how much did they give you in trade?EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: F1: 2011 Impressions and Discussion
Silly question, but is there a better choice of helmets or can they be customized? I am glad to hear the season menu improved. It was a good idea last year but fell short on execution.
I am still on the fence with this game. There are SOOO many games coming out this fall. I want F1 and NBA2K but try to mix my sports games up every year. I know FIFA and Forza are going to keep me insanely busy as well and that is not even counting time for rage, bf3, halo ae, gears, batman, skyrim.... Insane that we sit through months and months of drought and then get piled over by an avalanche of games every fall.Last edited by lnin0; 09-20-2011, 06:21 PM.Comment

There are 22 different helmet designs, sadly enough they cannot be customized at all nor is there any country flag based helmet designs either.Xbox Gamertag: mryaz88Comment

What difficulty do you have the AI set at? I applaud your pole in the Force India, however I think you might need to bump up a notch. While the Force India's are getting there, they are definitely not pole cars. lol I put the Force India into Q1 in Melbourne with a 1:28:xx at the end of Q2, didn't turn a lap in Q1, wanted to save the tires. And I have not run the race yet, but I am already thinking I need to bump the AI up. Just my .02 The game is brilliant IMHO.Comment

Re: F1: 2011 Impressions and Discussion
I finished my first race...20%, with all aids off except anti-lock brakes. AI on Professional (I believe, second from hardest)...Montreal.
I did a quick weekend, and didn't realize there was only one Qual session, so I didn't run the option tires and qualed only 14th with Hamilton. And didn't bother to finish any better either. 14th....I was as high as 10th at one point, but I lost my focus and spun.
Tires really do go off.....the lap of my pit stop they just went and I had a 1/2 lap of fighting the car around the circuit. I probably did have some warning, I noticed the car was getting looser in one particular corner.
I think I'm going to have to give in and use some TC. It's faster unfortunately, a good 1/2 sec at Montreal for me. At least until I get a better feel for the cars.
Finally, I thought the AI in the race was very good. They attacked me when I made mistakes, they drove pretty safely and didn't try to banzai me in unrealistic corners, etc. Overall, I felt pretty good driving around them, and they didn't do much unpredictable.Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: F1: 2011 Impressions and Discussion
This is my first F1 game and I have to say this game is quite a challenge but it is an absolute blast to drive. The driving isnt very forgiving even with many of the assists on but thats a good thing IMO. Just practicing and trying to improve my line was fun. I am amazed at how real this game looks, feels and sounds.
I started my career with Team Lotus. At Melbourne the fastest time I was able to put down was a 1:29.2. That put me at mid pack at around the P15 range. Cant remember exactly. I ran a full 58 lap race and started off horrible. Spun the car twice and quickly fell back to P19. I stayed out on Prime tires longer than all but 4 drivers so I made up some time and put on Option tires coming back out in P15. I struggled putting together consistent laps and began to lose ground when it started to drizzle. They said light rain was about 15 minutes away, then 10, then 5 and then the rain really came down. Unfortunately I didnt know how to change the tire type and went back out on Option tires on my last pit stop just before the rain hit(figured out how to change the tyre type after the fact). Boy was that a mistake! I was all over the place and wound up finishing 20th.
Horrible finish but I had a lot of fun in my first race on this game. The weather transition was awesome and you can really feel the gradual change in grip when rain starts to fall and the tire wear over a run is quite noticeable. Im embarrassed by the finish so Im going to take a mulligan and restart my career today after work.
This game is all about the on track experience. Not much if any in terms of extra customization or off track activities. The racing/driving is so realistic and fun that I dont mind not having much "extras". I would love to see them add a helmet custom tool or even a paint booth.
All in all, this game is a blast and I recommend this to anyone who likes racing period.Comment

May anyone post a video while lapping under SC? Do you have manual control or is it automatic a la Nascar 2011?Comment
