Re: F1: 2011 Impressions and Discussion
In practice they do act weird, but I was referring to in a race. In practice, even the top cars will slow and allow you to pass if you come within a certain distance of them.
Also, as much as I hate to do this, there is a nasty bug in the setups that people are exploiting. Setting both springs to 11 allows you to run your car like it's on rails. I've not tried it, but it's been confirmed by plenty of people. Codemasters is aware of it, but no mention of a fix or not.
Think I will stay away from online and only race racers from OS.
As for passing, I am seeing passing in career mode, have not tried any other races with AI so I can't speak for GP mode. In the Force India I somehow managed to get pole, but, by lap 2 the all of the big guns zipped by me like I was standing still and some of the moves were in my eyes aggressive.Last edited by BIG CAROLINA; 09-24-2011, 07:39 PM.GT: BIG CAROLINA23

Yes, I have had two....one was heavy the whole way through, and the other started raining late in the race....racing in the rain is massively stressful this year lolComment

Re: F1: 2011 Impressions and Discussion
Some online impressions.....
The game is pretty lag free, it races well and is pretty smooth. I don't recommend using AI cars to fill out the field, as it does drop the framerate noticeably.
A big oversight is that players must join the game in the lobby to participate in the qual session. While you can join the game during the qual session, you can only observe others and not drive yourself. It would've been nice to at least be able to have some sort of practice session where people can join and drive before the qual starts. This would allow more people to get into the game and make sure people can turn laps before the race begins.
Even with flags and penalties set to Full, players can still take severe liberties with the tracks by cutting corners and chicanes in ways that would never happen in a real F1 race. A good example is the final chicane/corner at Montreal. In the game, you can basically straight-line the chicane w/o getting a penalty or any damage/disruption to your car. And there are many other examples in the game. Offline it's not a problem, you only cheat yourself. But online it will become a problem, as you can be assured that players will take advantage of any little bit they can.Steam: BahnzoComment

Yeah I recorded those at 60fps at Max Settings, so my PC is pretty decent...I'll show more later including a night time match...Last edited by Behindshadows; 09-27-2011, 03:30 AM.Comment

Re: F1: 2011 Impressions and Discussion
Are you sure? This is a big buzzkill for me. I was planning on playing co-op locally with a friend. I had heard you could at least play a season using split-screen offline. This would be good enough for me. Can anyone confirm?MLB: Twins

Re: F1: 2011 Impressions and Discussion
I haven't played an F1 game in a long time, so I'm new to the series, but I can say after a couple hours of practice time, and two races, this is a great game IMO. The graphics are impressive on my PC, and the cars handle pretty much like I feel like they should. With the assists off and the driving line on, I found it tough to drive the car without wrecking, but that's the way it should be for someone new to the game. I also like the option of being able to make the AI more difficult.Comment

Re: F1: 2011 Impressions and Discussion
The more I play this, the more I realize the AI is bad again this year, not as bad as last year, but bad nonetheless. Way too easy to outbrake, they brake way too soon for corners and too passive on overtaking.
Also, once again this year the penalty system is awful again. I have been getting the most absurd penalties, yet when I accidentally cut two corners in a row, I don't get a penalty?
Still having fun with the game, just wish the AI was better.Comment
