Re: Official Wii Impressions
What do you mean you don't think basket ball could be used with the Wii mote and nunchucks. Just imagine to shoot you actually make a shooting motion..... Hockey. You can use the joystick to move and to shoot act like your taking a slap or wrist shot. And on Defense while your backing up you can use the Wii mote to kind of move your stick. Developers have all the tools with the Wii. I really hope they create something special. The Wii possibilities are endles.. I could care less about graphics but innovative FUN gameplay I guarantee Wii will be the system to get and force sony and Xbox to do something closeComment

Re: Official Wii Impressions
I was able to pick one up at BB this morning...got there at 8AM and was #20 of 50 and all the tickets were spoken for by 9:30. After a few hours with the Wii, I can't believe how much fun this system is. Wii Sports is a blast to play with/against people, and the mini-games in Monkey Ball are very addictive. It would have been nice to be able to pick up some extra controllers today, but that is really the only complaint I have so far. I can't wait to see how Wario plays on this system in January.XBL & PSN: zasbury25Comment

Re: Official Wii Impressions
Hockey...
use the nunchuck to move your player around. Hold the the B Button under the controller to pass the puck, then mimick the direction to pass... hold the A button and WALLAH you can do that niffty EA right anaolg shot stick yourself!
Move the puck from side to side and then motion a wrist shot or slap shot.
Basketball...
I agree... this is going to be tougher to pull of.
The Wii is not just a KIDDIE SYSTEM...
Call of Duty 3 and Red Steel are HARDLY kiddie games.
Nor is Trauma Center.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: Official Wii Impressions
I finally got my Wii. Wii sports is just plain fun. Zelda is a blast so far but I wish I had the component cables to run it in HD. I haven't been able to test out the virtual console yet because for some reason it won't connect to the internet. Has anyone else had this problem?Comment

Re: Official Wii Impressions
Well....after reading all of the impressions here I became interested in the Wii as a family machine. Of course every place I called on Sunday was sold out. We decided to go to the mall and walk around a little bit. I went into EB and the guy told me they were sold out. While I was looking around another employee came up and told me they had a reservation that cancelled and had one for sale.
Ka-chow!
So we get home with the Wii and a copy of Zelda. It wasn't hard to get everything going although I still don't know the best place for the sensor bar (anyone? top or bottom?)
For starters I am amazed at how much my wife and daughter like the system. I mean my daughter is absolutely nuts over it. She LOVES the tennis and bowling and keeps on making people on the Mii channel. My wife originally thought the Wii was a bad idea, but she is having a blast. She said she never thought it would be that much fun.
I think I couldn't game on the Wii alone. I need BioShock and Mass Effect. However the Wii gives a gaming alternative that is not available on either system right now. The controls work great, with slight exceptions at times, and the gaming seems innovative (we are going to buy them Rayman for Xmas). I would love to see a Dragon Quest RPG (not the lame thing they have coming up) or Tales. I also do not understand why they did not make the component cables readily available at launch. I still think $250 is too much (Wii Sports is not a $50 game) but since they have sold the machine like hot cakes who am I to say.DON'T PANICComment

Re: Official Wii Impressions
I had this problem at first also. I was getting an error message whenever I tried to connect. What I had to do is change my wireless router settings to get it to work. I had to enter the routers setting website address and change the channel it was on. I don't know exactly what that means but I did it and I can take the wii online with no problems. If you go to nintendos support website they have a lot of information on specific routers that can help you out with this. Hope this gets you started on fixing your problem.Comment

Re: Official Wii Impressions
My kids are getting a huge kick out of seeing their Mii characters in the sports games.
EDIT: This is the first time in a long time that we all played a game for hours on end. My wife kept saying she would only play one game of this or that and then windup playing it four or five times.Last edited by Spongedaddy; 11-27-2006, 02:18 PM.DON'T PANICComment

Re: Official Wii Impressions
So I go to Best Buy on my break to return my old Sirius radio and a college aged guy is returning something in front of me. I'm not really paying attention and as he walks away and I see the clerk carrying it to the back, I notice its a wii. I'm like hmm, that's interesting. So I get my $115 back and I'm walking around the store and I get intrigued, so I ask the guy to go up and check to see if they would sell it to me. He says well as long as its not broken, they should. So he goes up there and comes back and says it's not defective, but any system that is returned MUST be sent back to Nintendo.
So close.PS4: aBayBates
