Well, the search is over, and I am now the proud owner of a Nintendo Wii. After getting home from work today, for the heck of it, I called the Gamestop near my house to see if they had gotten any in.

Instead of the typical "We'll get some in February" answer I've been getting, I got "We had them but sold them all in 10 minutes". I thought to myself...****!!

So...I called the next closest GameStop...same answer. Then the next closest...same answer. Finally, I reached a GameStop that's about 30-40 minutes from my house. A woman answers. I ask if they have any Wii's. She says she has one left, but I better hurry because it won't last long. I turned on the Cutini Charm (it's real...I have proof) and got her to agree to hold one for me while I drove there.

So...now I've set this thing up, turned it on, and have been staring at an update download screen for the last 20 minutes. This is the 2nd update, the one it prompts you for after you choose which country you live in. How long is this thing supposed to take? Any way to speed it up? Router settings? Anything?

BTW - I picked up Zelda and Rayman. Any other suggestions on games? I doubt I'll try Madden. I'm one of the few who is happy with the 360 version, and I hate buying the same game on different systems.

congrats! Rayman is fun, I think I might have to get it eventually. I had a blast playing it at a friends house over the holiday.

I really like the Tony Hawk game, which I've mentioned in other threads. It makes good use of the Wiimote in a fun way.

congrats! Rayman is fun, I think I might have to get it eventually. I had a blast playing it at a friends house over the holiday.

I really like the Tony Hawk game, which I've mentioned in other threads. It makes good use of the Wiimote in a fun way.

I just checked on the nintendo.com forums. Seems the channel you use on your router could be the problem. If it's channel 6, that's the likely cause of the slow download speeds. I changed the channel on my router, rebooted my Wii, and the update is cruising along nicely now.

And yeah kevin, I'll post my Wii code as soon as I get it.

i'd like the links please....

Here you go... I used a white case, and you can't even tell it's not a real case/game. This is exact from the CD cardboard, but you can use any of the 6-7 covers there obviously.
