Re: Official Wii Impressions
Has anybody with the Wii bought some Cube games yet? I'm looking forward to checking out Rogue Squadron 2 especially. I know that game is 5 years old, but I've always wanted to play a Star Wars flying game. Graphics look pretty sweet too.Comment

Re: Official Wii Impressions
Nice...
I can't decide whether or not to pick up the Cube controller and a couple of games (likely Rogue Squadron 2 and RE4) or just invest the money in a Wii game like DBZ. I know that you recommend this game- what about for a total noob to fighting games and the series in general? I love the anime look to everything and like the idea of mastering the Wii controls within the context of a fighting game. Is the learning curve too high for guys like me?Comment

The game spans the original DB, DBZ, and DB:GT. Once you figureo uot the controls, the game is stunning. Every move you do flows. I think its one of the better fighting games i have played in a long time. This one has been out for the ps2 for a while i beleive, but now my three friends each want to get it.
setting your arms up as if you were going to throw a Kamehameha is a freakin blast. If you enjoyed the dbz cartoons, or the original japanese fansubs, you will love this game.
I highly recommend it.Comment

there is a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, its a whole lot of fun. I had a few freidns over earlier today and we were having a blast just messing with the practice mode in it.

Re: Official Wii Impressions
I bought the Wii with ZERO expectations out of it. I was expecting that if I got it and didn't like it, i'd just sell it on EBay and break even. Wii Sports really showed what the system has potential for. If your buddy like sports casually, it's hard to not get into the
Wii Sports games.
Bowling: you mimick the bowling motion - you have control of where you line up as well.
Boxing: it's a little touchy at first, but once you understand how it's laid out it works well. You hold both the nunchuck and the remote in front of you like boxing gloves. you can then punch high or low... block... if you lean your body you can actually weave around punches.
Baseballs (as borat would say):You just swing and pitch. You don't have to field the ball at all. You can foul tip the ball off. It will mimick your batting stance pretty well. If you hold the bat upright, or over your shoulder (high or low). Pitching, you have 4 types. The speed of the pitch is based on how hard you whip the remote. You can press the DPad in a specifc direction before the pitch to throw in that direction.
Golf: The controls are a little touchy, but once you figure that out, then it's a piece of cake and fun becuase when you mess up your shot it's ALL YOU and not the fault of the remote.
Tennis: Another game that you don't have to move your character around for. you just swing at the ball and have a good time.
Then there is a Training mode for each sport to help you with them.
There is also a fitness test (I have yet to do, but have read about). You get judged on balance stamina and speed.
Zelda:
Anyone that can deal with having an imagination with games that are kind of like Folk lore, then ANY AGED gamer will have fun with an enjoy Zelda.
Monkey Ball Banana Blitz:
Another family friend game that has a sinlge player mode that's like the old classic table game "labyrinth" The table game that has a metal ball that you're trying to navigate through a maze and have the ball not fall through the holes. After 100 of those levels - which range from easy to insainly hard, you have over 40 mini-games that utilize the Remote and Nunchuck attachments... games like hurdles where you make lift the sticks up and down in a running fasion and then lift both at the same time to jump... to a game where you have to do the same motion to make your monkey's move, but as soon as a timer stops, you have to hold the sticks perfectly still or you go back to start... Monkey Darts, a lot to explain....
Rayman Raving Rabbids:
It's one of the qurikery games i've ever played. But this game is laid out like a Party Game as well. You have over 50 mini-games that range from bizare to bizarro. Milking Pigs, tossing cows, etc.
I've only gotten a chance to play this for about 30mins. It's cool playing alone, but I'm waiting patiently for my extra remote and nun-chuck to come in from Nintendo.com.
Madden Wii:
It's a cool concept, but in the end it's a "wait until next year" becasue if they really try and tighten up what they have their right now, it'll be a heck of a game, even with XBox 1 Graphics.
Trauma Center: It's rated Teen... It's a simulator in a way of doing operations. It's pretty crazy, but an extremely cool concept.
There there's more stuff in the pipeline like Power Swing Golf and Elebits (just look it up on gamespot or IGN to see how innovate that is... you have a virutal house and everything can be picked up and manipulated - for instance moving a couch or opening a jar. You're trying to capture these little devil looking dudes called Elebits.
I'm really impressed with what Nintendo did. It's a VERY NICE change of pace from the pure graphics machines of the 360 and PS3.Last edited by DXZeke; 11-24-2006, 09:16 PM.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: Official Wii Impressions
Coming up on a week since the Wii came out and I love it more and more each day. This system has made me feel like a kid again and has really rekindled my interest in video games. Zelda is A+ material and the feel of throwing a touch pass to a an open receiver in the corner of the end zone is something all football fans experience. I've never even liked Madden (I'm a 2k guy) but I can't put Madden for the Wii down. It's a dilemma when I got to play since I only get a couple hours a day, do I want to play Zelda or Madden? Wii sports still gets a lot of play as well. I'm getting pretty good at most of the games in that. I'll have to check out the DBZ game. I used to love DBZ back in high school (still have a nightstand top covered in DBZ action figures in my bedroom).Comment

Re: Official Wii Impressions
I'd say whenever you do decide to pick up GC games for the Wii, definitely go for Rogue Squadron. Both GC games are on my "GC games" list. I played Rebel Strike when it first came out and it was a blast. The only thing I didn't like were the foot missions as the camera was a bitch to work with, but I don't think RS2 had foot missions. If you're looking at GC games to pick up, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is suppose to be a blast and if I can't pick another Wii game to get (other than Zelda) I will pick up Prince of Persia along with NBA Street Vol. 3. Interesting note about NBA Street Vol.3 for the GC, it features exclusive characters on the Gamecube: Mario, Luigi, and Peach.

Re: Official Wii Impressions
I picked up a couple Gamecube games prior to ordering the Wii. I ordered the Resident Evil 3-pack from GameStop (Resident Evil, RE Zero, and RE4) along with a memory card and the Wave Bird wireless controller. Yesterday, I won an auction for the very rare promotional Legend of Zelda: Collector's disc which has the original Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask for $45 and its still in the seal.

Yeah...hearing about the foot missions in the third rogue squadron turned me off that version a bit.
Does the combat in Resident Evil get repetitive? I mean the game looks amazing, but does it stay fresh the whole way through?Comment
