Either i am old school and therefore go with my nostalgia, or the games are just more fun to me.

In a world where it seems there needs to be a 'winner' with everything, i think i am in the crowd that really just doesn't care as long as I maximize my entertainment dollar.

If the virtual boy had several games that i just could not put down ( seizures and all) i would have probably picked one up as well. Hell, since i got Portrait of Ruin, my DS has been the #1 system being played the last 2 weeks or so.
That's why I bought a Wii myself, not because of the third party games but it's because of Nintendo first party games. To me their first party games are the most fun games I play. Games that normally you would say no way man would I be caught playing that but when you do you forget about everything and you just enjoy the game. Mario Golf (GCN), and Pikmin are perfect examples of quality games from Nintendo.

I'll still keep my Gamecube just to play the old games. The only games I see myself getting for the Wii are games made by Nintendo.

It's a whole new experience as you are controlling games in a whole new way. I simply can't wait for an MLB or PGA game.
Wii is a must own system IMO.

The Wii is about the experience and gameplay. Where the other consoles are more about "I can do this and that faster and ours can do this and ours can do that" and most of it is just add ons unrelated to gaming.
Don't get me wrong I love my 360 and couldn't do without it but the Wii is well worth the purchase.
what specifically is so good about the controller and gameplay? When I look at the games, I honestly get turned off lol. I'm more into sim games such as the sims or rollercoaster and rpg type action games like Oblivion and GTA:SA.

You think it's just preference of what games you think are fun? I know some of my friends like Mario and smash bros, but I just don't find smash bros fun at all. And they sit here for a long time playing smash bros.

I think you hit the nail right on the head. Most people will "look" at it, and just can't see what's so fun about the system. Hell, I wouldn't say any of these games are appealing by the way that they look or the way that they make people look when they play. But that's when I actually pick up the controller and play it for myself. I really have problems telling people what it's like because it's something that I've never seen before. The way that this system handles just amazes me, despite the older graphics and the "kiddie" appeal that Nintendo has jumped on for their consoles.

BBall, I'll tell you just what I tell everyone else: "Just play it once and see for yourself."

I had my doubts about the system until I checked my daily log and i've played close to 9 hours in 2 days. The graphics on the Wii look fine to me even though I have a PS360 systems. I would complain if they looked like PS1 graphics but they don't.

I play any and all games. RTS, RPG, Sports, Action etc... which is why I have a 360 also.
If you get turned off by just looking at it then I say try it and actually give the game a fair shot. For me it adds more "play" in the "gameplay". Again playing a game like Madden on the Wii was more fun due to the fact you are more involved rather than just sitting and hitting buttons.
Add to that the unique games like Elebits and you have a whole new gaming experience.

Why keep the gamecube? I thought the Wii is backward compatible and will play all gamecube games itself.

It is, but I can't sell my GC it so i'll use it to play GC games instead. I also figure it's less wear and tear on the Wii.

I just beat the final event on Tony Hawk Downhill Jam. I think this game is really fun, I hope the others that have it enjoy it too. I got a medal in each event except the next to last, it is so freakin hard. I'm still practicing it to beat it, but it is tough. The last guy was tough too. Fun game IMO.

I didn't even realize it unitl tonight but Wii Sports Golf has some pretty decent graphics. The grass looks better than anything I've seen in any Tiger Woods game.

And I still haven't become very good at that game yet. I just shot a 50 (+14) on 9-holes and enjoyed every bit of it.

If i'm not mistaken it's running off of the Mario Golf game for the Cube. While I enjoy PS360 graphics I have no problems playing games on the PS2, Xbox or GC. In fact what I don't understand is how some will blow off the Wii as a souped up GameCube and at the sametime will pay and download retro games.

There are some very pretty games on the Cube to this day that I can still play for years to come.

well I'll definitely try to play it whenever I get the chance. It does look like an interesting concept.

I did not like the gamecube though. I tried playing smash bros and couldn't understand what was so fun about it. Now I can't compare smash to the technology of the Wii, but for some reason I get the same feelings.

The thing about the Wii is that it can be fun for everyone. I could not live on the Wii alone, but it gives me a nice alternative and (more importantly) I can play it with the family. All of my kids are having a blast with it. The brilliant thing Nintendo has done is deliver an alternative to the masses. There are tons of people out there who enjoy simple fun games (hence the popularity of sites like Pogo.com) and the Wii will appeal to them. "Hardcore" gamers will still play Zelda, Metroid, Sadness (if that is its name) etc. MS and Sony have boasted about how their machines will have mass appeal, but Nintendo did it.*

Imo you can get a 360 which will take care of all your various gaming needs and get a wii that takes you into videogame FUN.... Nintendo is all about fun. 250 and innovative controls. You can get both the 360 and the wii for just a tad more than the ps3... The 360 and it's wonderful games has been a suprise for alot of people. But the Wii is the fun machine. I can't wait to score one because I played it at a friends house. The Basic Wii sports is a blast. I can't wait to play madden 08 on the Wii. Ea sports opened up a studio just for Wii development.

I caved in today and bought one off ebay for $400. I have been checking bids all day and stumpled across one that was at 395.00 with 10 seconds left.
