Possibly, but I would be very surprised if this has impact on XBOX sales in the future.I see what your saying and I do agree. For some reason I just think it will be a bigger deal than it may be seem right now. Consumers spend their money on this stuff and they should be entitled to the freedom when it comes to sharing files and such, well, anything that is legal at least.
For me, the choice is simple, I'll simply play NCAA 08 and the next version of College Hoops on my PS3. As I said, ,most of us are early adopters, and a good portion of that crowd are multi console owners.Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
In the end, MS really has no reason to stress over this. At best, they'll clear FK and Linders console IDs but really those guys probably will do rosters even if they need new consoles to do so. For 99% of the users of this, its really no different than before on future titles. They'll just need to change the roster name after they DL it.
The only real issue is current rosters of games already out. Those could be redone and posted by people who didn't update yet. Where i think the issue will occur is people will just have less choices in roster options. Where maybe you would get 3-6 rosters makers for a game you might get half of that.Gamertag and PSN Name: RomanCaesarComment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
Interesting. It's certainly unfortunate news. Custom rosters were a vital aspect of my enjoyment of sports games, and I gather this will be pretty disappointing to those that also used custom rosters in their games.
This will really hurt games that don't have naming rights, like Winning Eleven or NCAA Football.
The other negative aspect is that it will result in users having to be more dependent on the default rosters released with a game; and also the company to keep the rosters updated and as accurate as possible throughout the season.
The trend in technology seems to be getting more restrictive with progress and advances, and I guess there's no exception here. This situation reminds me of Verizon Wireless and their practice of crippling phones to force users into buying or subscribing to their own products. If Microsoft or gaming companies start selling updated rosters, the comparison will be even more valid.Enjoy football? Enjoy Goal Line Blitz!Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
Isn't all this a little premature?
I'll be the first to admit that I pondered the thought of getting a PS3, but we are a few months away from NCAA and don't even know if this will be an issue yet.
I think some people are just looking for a reason to like the PS3.Comment

Not unless they just absorbed the United States Marine Corps.

Where did I say anything was wrong with the PS3?
I simply said that people are using this issue, that may or may not be a problem, to validate purchasing a PS3.
Like I said, it seems a little premature.Comment

LMAO. It was only a matter of time.
I hope it works out better for you than your Jeremy Shockey is better and has more upside than Antonio Gates argument.

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
Agreed. Although the chance of MS selling updated rosters is slim. NFLPA license is held exclusively by EA, College rosters can't be named for profit, and they don't own the MLBPA or NBA players licenses currently, nor would that seem to be a good return on investment.Interesting. It's certainly unfortunate news.
