^ so you're saying transferring the file on the 360 will not be corrupted until you save it again?

You have to rename the file before installing the 360's spring update. If you've already accepted the spring update, it won't work.

        oh alright got ya!

it's just I haven't updated my xbox 360 yet, so i Know im safe, but the thing is how will roster editors get their rosters out to the community when most of us had already accepted the spring update?

do they just send it to people with pre-updated xbox's to rename and then post it?

what happens if a person whose ID is on the list d/ls the file and uses it? same process all over again?

if so, then screw this system, I'll go PS3 all the way now.

The Roster maker need the console ID removed from the list, or they would need to save them on a new console that hasn't been tagged. The blocking of the console is on the users console. The roster maker can play the files just fine, they can also use other people saves until those are tagged. Basically, once you DL them, you should just rename them.

Also, i would say only get the PS3 if you have more issues with the 360 than just this. In addition, i would suggest just getting the PS3 as the second console, not the replacement console as the bulk of saves will be on the 360 this year. For the users, really nothing has changed except you should rename the file when you DL it.

^ oh ok thanks for the further information

so I'm assuming that you're saying even if your console has been tagged, if you do d/l a file from an untagged console, and that same file is made available to users in a community, i guess unplug the ethernet cable and rename the file before you connect to the XBL server, correct?

No, i am saying if you DLed the update, you cannot DL a roster from a tagged console ID and expect it to work. The block is on the users end regardless if connected to live or not. You can only DL rosters from untagged consoles and expect them to work, and you should rename them if they do.

This really effects almost no one on future games, if you rename the roster when you DL it. The only ones who could really have the issue will be the roster makers or people who didn't rename the rosters. Unless, MS somehow figures out a way to stop that.

My post wasn't even directed at you, obviously its a different situation for those with a flagged console. I even made a point to say no offense to you specifically. I had used your NBA 2k7 rosters for the majority of the season mainly because the effort was reflected in the product. That said, I could care less about the hours and hours you spent when you make it out like you are the best roster maker bar none and i should recognize that. Frankly I think the roster community is better off with just the guys who put their rosters up because they're sticklers for accuracy & realism and think others would enjoy them and without guys like you & those carrying the attitude reflected in that post (Complete with the "lets see how you feel when i'm not around" ending, give me a break). If you want a PS3, get a PS3, its a quality system. I'm sure i'll find some way to make it without your rosters, same as i did when you stopped making NBA 2k7 rosters.

We are the one who the tagging effected, not you. I don't see how it cost you anything to let some guys vent in one thread that directly related to this. I was tagged so i vented, of all the roster makers outside FK- i probably vent the least.

As for how the boards would be better without the guys making rosters for accuracy like myself- how about you? What do you add? Outside, belittling the effort i have made with all these rosters what do you add? Seriously, was there any need for you in this thread outside giving your opinion- which wasn't needed?

This might surprise you but others would disagree about missing my rosters. The NBA ones were the least of the rosters i did as the MLB and NCAAs ones were DLed thousands of times. My problem with the update is why go thru the extra hassle (and money) of getting a new console to provide free rosters for people like yourself. Like you said- you don't care if i spent hundreds of hours doing rosters. I never got a dime off of doing them. So continue your witty, pointless, post after post where you add nothing to the community and tell yourself how those of us who actually provide something should shut up.

If you could care less how much time he spends on his rosters then why download them and why even post in this thread? I myself place OS above all other sports gaming websites because of the community and guys like DKrause, Fairdale, the NCAA community roster guys, Fiddy, and all the others who make rosters for our enjoyment and spend a whole heck of a lot of time doing it. This is a bad situation and really unfair for guys like DKrause, Fairdale, and the rest of us who download the rosters. Keep your snide opinions to yourself. The argument ends with this post. If you'd like a little timeout from the forums, then keep it up.

If it means anything Dkrause, Fairdale, Chris, and countless others who contribute to Rosters/Sliders I can's say enough how much your work has made my gaming experience "GREAT". There is no way in hell that I could do what you do. Your talent/time does not go unoticed/unappreciated by me. Peace!!!

To change the topic temporarily- FK what did you write to the 360gamesaves.com people to keep you off the site? Do you send your console serial #? or what?

I have been jonsing for the elite anyway and might just pick up a new console.

                            dkrause1971,

First, I want to applaud you for your efforts and I have much respect for everything that you do with the roster updates. I've done both the initial release and then updates myself and it is not an easy job. You did a spectacular job with my initial NCAA '07 rosters last year and the majority of the community enjoys them. Personally, I have never used them but I would have enjoyed them if I had used them because of your effort. I never knew how much work you had done with my rosters until this "dilemma." I downloaded one of your roster files and marveled at the edits that you had made to my initial file. I've worked with mustang84 in the past and he did a great job, too. I have always wrote down "every" single alteration to my edits in the past and admire that you actually took the time to put together an EXCEL sheet and HTML page.

Next, really I could care less who is labeled the "best roster editor" and the discussion is moot because people follow the work of their favorites. There are several people that spend a lot of time working on rosters for the various communities and they all deserve recognition for the time and efforts that are involved to benefit their particular gaming community. For me, I love Operation Sports because the community is so close. I remember that I was responsible for the roster download section here at O/S and that I had the blessings of Steve OS from the start. But it wasn't without some controversy and dust being stirred. I also know for a fact that there are over 20,000 members on my website that download rosters every year, and there are thousands more that download my rosters from O/S, Madden Planet, Madden Mania and then there are sites like 360gamesaves.com or Gamerosters.com which post my files without my permission. After I released rosters last year for NCAA '07 for the XBox and the 360 I seriously thought about giving up editing rosters for the public. For one, it takes a lot of time and effort and I'm not making a living off of editing rosters. While 99.9% of the people are enjoying the rosters there is that one person that isn't satisfied. And then they bad-mouth me on the forums: it happened here last summer and I read a few posts on my own site. For whatever reason, people believe that they are entitled to roster downloads... and they should be perfect upon the first release in less than 24 hours after the game is released.

Last year, I received gripes because DT had released his rosters a few days earlier. Of course, no one mentioned that he had the game almost one week longer than I did. The only factor was that he released rosters first. Another thing that wasn't mentioned was that, in the past, I have always had time to send my rosters to people and have them proof-read them for mistakes. Last year, I received the game 4 or 5 days earlier than release... and no one else had the game yet. Not even the leaders of the gaming communities. So there wasn't the option to send it to some of these guys and let them check for problems. Hence, I took heat last year because my rosters had spelling mistakes. The worst part about everything is that I can not defend myself because I am always working on the rosters in July and August so I am usually oblivious to the criticism. It isn't until I complete rosters and have free time that I can go back and read all the moaning and crying.

I've just got to the point where I realize that you can't please everyone. Whatever I do isn't going to please everyone. So, I've quit trying to please everyone. And I'm going to continue to do what I want to do. I will release rosters this summer again that will be "just" naming the DEFAULT rosters. DK or someone else can edit the initial rosters and I'll have no problems. As for the reason that I haven't really vented about this "new" problem concerning this topic-- there really is no reason to vent. I would rather find the solution to the problem and move on. Micro$oft will do whatever they want.

Finally, I want to answer your question DK. I had contacted the administrator at 360Gamesaves.com and asked for his cooperation to keep my roster downloads off of their site. But, of course, I have not heard a reply. I was hoping that they would be a little more willing to help but I guess if M$ can't prevent them from keeping their content off the forums how am I going to keep my rosters off of their site.

I was hoping that they would be a little more willing to help but I guess if M$ can't prevent them from keeping their content of the forums how am I going to keep my rosters off of their site.
IMO if it's free, as yours are, NO ONE has any right to complain. You do this as a service to a community under no obligation. People are ridiculous and you are right, don't worry about pleasing people too lazy to fix a simple typo. Talk about spoiled! You certainly have my 100% thanks and I apprecate all those who take the time to input rosters for us as a community!

Agreed. If you only took the time to enter player names for three teams, it would be three more than I would have entered myself. And for that, I will always be grateful. I cannot put into words how the efforts of the roster makers have enhanced my gaming experience. Every player name could be misspelled, and you would still have my gratitude. For the few of you have put forth the effort, while I have not. Anyone that has the nerve to complain over work they are too lazy to do themselves, should be kicked square in their beanbag.
