You summed up my feelings about this whole thing dkrause. I'm fed up with all this BS from Microsoft. Love the system but the reliability is just unreal. The issue with Rosters just kills it for me. Like I stated before. I do not want to get stuck out in the cold if the work around becomes a prloblem. Hell!!!, why do I even have to use a workaround? Just want my gaming to be a fun, simple exp. Peace!!!

I'm not underestimating the sports gaming community at all. In fact, I think you are overestimating the sports gaming community that actually uses roster transfers. That 2% can really come back and bite you in the ***. I wonder how this will play out in the end.
If nothing is done before the major sports titles release, I think it'll have more of a negative effect on the 360 than you might think. The sports gaming community is bigger than you might think as well.Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
Not really. Every year more and more people are learning about how they can use custom rosters. The community is constantly growing and that's the mistake Microsoft is making. Not only are they shunning their current hardcore sports community, but the ones that are waiting in the wings.
Make no mistake, if nothing is done, a lot of people will be making their console purchasing decisions on whether or not they can use/dl/transfer rosters for their sports games.Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
I was a hardcore Sony guy but now only own a 360. I looked at the 360 and PS3 as really close to each other, and have essentially paid the same for a 360 as a ps3 when you throw in the Xsata and wireless adapter. But I purchased it because it had the most backing from the roster and slider community. If the bulk of those guys, dkrause mainly because I use his rosters most, jump ship then so will I. But I am not angered by this because some how I had edited my stuff so lost nothing but I am worried. Yet I have full faith that somehow there will be something done like a work around or Microsoft will fix this.Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
How exactly did you come to that conclusion? Besides any hard core sports gamer, who would be likely to use roster transfers, has most likely already made their console purchase. Hard core gamers, like the ones we have around here are generally early adopters of new technology.Comment

Because hardcore gamers of any genre are so myopic they can't see beyond their own little world. How exactly did you come to that conclusion? Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
Are you a sports gamer? 39,000+ posts on a sports website forum probably hints "yes." Now would you buy the 360 knowing that you couldn't use custom rosters? Or would you buy the PS3 because you have all the freedom to create and share rosters with all the sports gaming community? How exactly did you come to that conclusion? That's the logic. It will be a factor in some people's minds unless M$ fixes this.Comment

I didn't read the entire thread... What's the verdict on this?
Have custom roster transfers been disabled, and has Microsoft commented on whether it's intentional or an accident that will be addressed?Enjoy football? Enjoy Goal Line Blitz!Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
Here's the problem. Sports gamers like me and the people you are including in your argument, more than likely have already purchased their consoles. As I said the hardcore community, are generally early adopters. Hence MS really isn't looking at a hit in future sales. They've already gotten our money. Are you a sports gamer? 39,000+ posts on a sports website forum probably hints "yes." Not to mention there are a lot of multi console owners like me who buy both. And then there's the factor that our community is a blip on the radar, a tiny speck of console overall sales numbers.Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
It may factor into some minds, but I do agree that you are overestimating the hardcore sports gaming community. Look at the number of members on this site, or any other sports gaming site on the web...you know, the web, the place where you'd get these rosters. We don't put a dent in the sales of either of these two consoles.
Granted, it might sway some one way or the other, but not enough to make MS feel it in their pocket.Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
It was intentional. From what I read, rosters weren't the target, but I guess pirated XBL Arcade titles and other copyrighted material were. Things like rosters were just collateral damage.Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
Yeah, but why couldn't Microsoft specifically target just the copyrighted material instead of banning all type of transfers? They could have found a way around this.Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
I see what your saying and I do agree. For some reason I just think it will be a bigger deal than it may be seem right now. Consumers spend their money on this stuff and they should be entitled to the freedom when it comes to sharing files and such, well, anything that is legal at least. Here's the problem. Sports gamers like me and the people you are including in your argument, more than likely have already purchased their consoles. As I said the hardcore community, are generally early adopters. Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
Probably not in the time frame they wanted. Probably wasn't worth the time nor resources for such a small part of the gaming community. In fact, I doubt the possibility of making rosters impossible to transfer was even a thought, as it affects such a small portion of the user community. Not to mention there were more than likely technical factors involved. Performing something like this over such a vast network isn't as easy as simply waving a wand.
I don't like the way MS handled this either, but if you want to get mad at someone get mad at the people who pirated the software, and get mad at places like 360gamesaves who hosted such saves. That's the root cause of this problem.Last edited by bkrich83; 05-14-2007, 10:30 PM.Comment
