Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
My problem is getting a harddrive to back my PS3 up to first. I have an external drive, but it already has stuff on it so I can't repartition it without losing data. I tried one of those repartion tools that keep your data but couldn't get it to work. I might buy a HDD tomorrow at Walmart to do the backup with, then return it. LOL

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
The reason I need to partition off part of a hdd for the PS3 backup is because hdds can be formatted in different ways. Most PC hdds these days are formatted in something called NTFS, but the PS3 can only write to a FAT32 hdd. So my 500gb hdd is NTFS but I can repartition 65gb of it to be FAT32 that way the PS3 can write to that 65gbs. Make sense?
The problem I had is my hdd already had data on it, so I had to download a special tool called EASEUS Partition Manager (there are other similar ones as well) that will repartition your hdd without losing the data on it. So last night I ran this program and told it to partition off 65gb on my 500gb external drive and to format it in FAT32. That took a couple hours (I went to bed LOL). So now this morning I checked it and now my 500gb hdd is split into a 435gb chunk in NTFS and a 65gb chunk in FAT32. I plugged the hdd into my PS3 and the PS3 now sees that a 65gb hdd is plugged into it.
So as we speak my PS3 is backing up all my data to that hdd, it says it will take an hour. Then this afternoon when my new PS3 hdd arrives, I will put it in the PS3 and run the PS3's backup utility again to pull the data back from the 65gb hdd.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Remember last year when Sony talking about partnering with Google to provide gamers to upload videos straight to YouTube from the PS3.
Well it is finally here. I know some Japanese arcade supported this but the first full game to support this is Hawx.
Today we are showcasing a special feature of the PS3 version of Hawx: Youtube video upload! Hawx supports this special Playstation 3 feature that allows you to upload your recorded game videos directly to your Youtube account from the game. Let's discover how it works in this video!
Really cool!Comment

A partition is part of your harddrive (hdd) that you write to. In the past I've always made my harddrive's partition just as big as the harddrive itself. Like on a 500gb hdd the partition is 500gb, but in some cases you might want to split a hdd into two or more partitions or sections. You might take that 500gb hdd and split it into a 400gb partition for data storage and 100gb for your operating system files. When you look at your hdds from My Computer (assuming you are using a PC) you will see two hdds listed even though you really only have 1 actual hdd.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
guys I was playing the Show '09 and all the sudden the system shut itself down. I went to fire it back up so that I could get my disc out of the drive and it stayed on for roughly 45 secs before powering down again. I turned it on a third time to get my disc out and got it out and the system was on for about 2 minutes before I shut it down myself.
Anyone have any idea as to what might be going on? Could it have gotten over heated or is it about to go out? It is an original 60gb that I bought on release day.
Thanks in advance.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
