so im playing 2k with my brother and the system just shuts off. came back on though but i cut it back off just in case it was just too hot or something.

I was going to say the same thing a couple of months ago. Somehow everything went into the PSN discussion thread, so I just posted there once no one was responding to things here anymore.

Raw, I would ebay it before trying gamestop. They will rip you off. You can probably get more selling as broken on eBay.

no i have 60gb. my original 60gb died last year so i sent that in to sony and they sent me this refurbished 60gb.

me and my brother was playing NBA 2K10 and it just shut off. im like what da hell. so i cleaned it a little cuz it was dusty and i let it sit for like a half hour. i turned it back on and immediatly copied my important games saves (like my NBA 2k10 and THE SHOW 09 franchises)to my flash drive just in case it shut off again.

it had been like 10-15 minutes and it was still on so i started back up 2k again. 5 minutes later it blinks yellow for a second then shuts off and blinks red.

Raw, I would ebay it before trying gamestop. They will rip you off. You can probably get more selling as broken on eBay.

i called sony today and they told me to try cleaning the vents properly with a vaccum and then turn it on and see if it stays on for 30 minutes or so. ill try that in a few and posts the results.

please pray for my system yall, the PS3 is my life!!

The system will beep first before turning off due to a heat issue. I had that happen once because I had my PS3 up against a wall. :/

im really so pissed off right now it is beyond words. on top of everything going wrong in my life now i dont have the only thing that brings me consistent joy.

after cleaning the vents, it stayed on for on hour. then while i was playing Hustle Kings it shut off again. now it doesnt come on at all.

If it stays on for an hour, I would go and trade it in to Gamestop. They only run a system for a minute. I hate that company so badly, that I would do something like that to them.

yeah, it sucks when a console dies. I've burned through many 360's, and the one I have now has a dead dvd drive. Now my ps3 sounds like a jet engine for some reason.

Me too. I once sold my PSX that didn't work (I was a young lad then), and it had a laser issue that didn't allow it to run discs properly. They were going to test it, but all of their outlets were being used or something. They asked, "This works, right?"

Me: "Yep."

Them: "Okay."

after talking to Sony the other day, they said i have the option of sending my ps3 to them + $148 ($119+$29 for shipping and insurance) and ill get a refurbished 120gb ps3?

i was talking to BRET_OS about this and he thinks i should stay away from another refurbished system and i think i feel the same way.

don't pay $150 dollars to get a refurb back. Just sell your dead ps3 to offset some of the cost of buying a new one.
