I've saved a ton of $ buying used, Not to mention the security that if the game sucks, I can get a refund.Joshua:

EDIT: By "they" I mean Gamestop, not the local shop (if that looked ambiguous).Last edited by Blzer; 01-25-2011, 12:48 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I just said they'll have to rethink their system. I don't like working with Gamestop because they don't have loyalty incentives and they buy used games at a very low percentage from what they sell them back as. I have a new local shop right next to me that takes advantage of these two flaws from Gamestop. I wouldn't mind if they were gone, but that's just from a biased perspective.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Best Buy has been giving awesome trade in values when compared to Gamestop. Lately, I have just been trading them in there. It just sucks that it takes a bit longer waiting in line at BBY since they do not have a good system in place for trades, but its better than nothing.
Once more companies do better at this, Gamestop will have to adapt or die (hopefully).Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
As long as you've got a game that came out within the last year or so, you're usually going to get quite a bit more than you would at gamestop.
You can also estimate your trade value here, before you go in:

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
At Best Buy, the trade-ins are basically ALWAYS good... we only run temporary promos to let people know, but here's a secret; those crazy good trade-in amounts ($30, $32, etc), are what we are always offering for those games.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Anyone have any experience with this controller. I'm trying to find something wider/heavier (a la the Xbox controller .... so far the Power A is ok, but I've had to replace the X button already with a deeper button that didn't stay depressed):

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
For some reason I always have problems with the X button. It seems to lose its responsiveness after about six months for me. Only thing I can compare it to is a "dead spot" on a basketball court.
I don't have the tools or patience to take it apart, so I just buy a new one.
As for that specific controller, I never had any luck with a 3rd party choice.Last edited by LingeringRegime; 01-26-2011, 05:44 PM.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I searched the forum but no luck so I guess I'll ask here. I have a 40gig and after about maybe 10 minutes of game play the fans kick on and they are super LOUD. I mean I can hear them over my TV. It reminds me of the 360 I had. I have it standing up vertically and there is nothing around it except for my TV so I'm sure it's well ventilated.
The fans like I said are really loud and they seem to stay on for about 45 minutes to an hour and then they kick off. It's not only really annoying but it also has me wondering if this is normal? I'd like to just trade it in towards a slim but I'm sure Gamestop will probably rip me off. I'm not even sure what I'd get for it. Is it normal for this fans to be this loud? I've had the system for like 4 years so maybe it's about to kick the bucket? I have no clue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks fellas.CP: MLB The Show 11; BLOPS; UC 2.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I'm pretty sure it's normal. I know how annoying it is. You have to crank the TV up loud in order to hear anything or wear headphones. My old PS3's and my friends PS3's have done this at some point in time. 3 or 4 of them eventually died. So the last time this happened with my last 60gb, GS was running the 200.00 trade in promo and I traded it in for a slim. Didn't want to chance another dead PS3.CP: MLB The Show 11; BLOPS; UC 2.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
It is possible to fix this yourself. I don't know the exact steps but my buddy did it to his PS3 and it's been working well since he got the YLOD. He had a 40gb as well. Something that has to do with the Heatsink. He youtubed a video and followed it step by step.
And, he's a tecnological idiot, if he can do it litterally anybody with a devolped brain can do it.
Sorry Brian if you read this. lolOriginally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon.
