So awesome...got it the other day. I too was amazed at how small it is. Didn't think it was that much smaller from the comparison pictures I have seen.

My one gripe is that my freaking sexy controller already has a squeaky sound coming from the LT trigger.

I am very lucky because I didn't even reserve it at gamestop but for some reason the guy decided to give it to me

I hear ya, I just thought it be a little cooler, no biggie.

          Re: New Xbox 360

In the inside it is cooler.......it is hot on top due to the fact it blowing the hot air out that huge arse vent on the top. I rather feel heat blowing out then not feeling heat coming out. The thing with the old 360s were they only had small exhaust vent in the back.

Therefore the inisdes were cooking and eventually melted parts of the system board and fused connections together. This time microsoft said hey lets put a huge arse vent on the top and vents along the sides of the system, that way we can maxmize air flow.

It is the same way with a good PC tower. You stick your hand back there you will feel the heat blowing out of the tower. WHICH IS A GREAT THING.

I've read this thread and have gotten much information except for one thing.

Once i install a game to the hard drive, will i be able to play an online game from the hard drive or will i have to re-insert the disc to play an online game? TIA

I called GS, and the $100 promo is over, so I'll be waiting until NHL 11 drops before I do an upgrade.

The game has to be in the xbox. By installing the game to your hard-drive, it reduces the amount of heat coming from your xbox which allows it to run alot cooler and also your xbox runs alot quieter.

From some web site I read this.

                  You can lock it down
Microsoft has added a Kensington security lock slot to the back of the new Xbox 360 so if you’re worried about light-fingered family members or your untrustworthy new flatmate, you’ll be able to bolt it down.

I don't think it gets that hot, but I think we all have different standards as to what we perceive as "hot".

I do think they hit the nail on the head when they called it whisper quiet. Once you have a game installed to the HDD(and there isn't a reason not to), you can't really hear the system, even when you're playing a game.

I was upset when I opened mine and it had no component AV. I went out and bought an HDMI cord... but seriously. Cheap move.

Otherwise I'm in love <3 lol

I am sorry but if I got to lock stuff down in a house then I won't be living there. I can see if you were in a dorm room then yeah.

I am no longer in love with this system. I turn it on, have lines through the screen, making things nearly unreadable. Called MS and they said sounds like my videocard is overheating or loose. I'm not exactly happy at the moment. Gamestop said they won't be getting any in for a few weeks, so I can't exchange it either. I have PLENTY of ventilation, it's literally on an open shelf by itself, nothing on top or to the side... so I know it's not improper ventilation. BOOOO.

This is the exact thing that happened to me with my first Xbox years ago. So are you just going to keep it or send it to MS?

I can't keep it... It's unplayable. I'm holding on for a call from the local Gamestop, they said they may have a shipment of 2, lol, coming in today. If so, one is mine. We'll see. I'm about through with this generation of consoles. This is pitiful.
