    Re: New Xbox 360

I just took it from work, we have them all over the place. You can get one for $40 or so.

The big issue is that the replay stuff in 2K11 doesn't work with flash memory apparently. I have an 80 GB external HDD I'm going to try connecting to it but I know it can still only be 32 GB due to the 360 limitations. Not sure if that'll do the trick for 2K11. It's killing me not being able to see the POTG replays.

Glad to hear you got your memory sticks to work. The only reason I'm thinking of picking a new 360 up is b/c my current 360 is a MS factory Refurb after my original red-ringed 3 times and eventually kicked the bucket with the E74 error. If I can scoop up a new 360 for less than $100, that's not a bad deal. Plus, the black system would like nice on my Entertainment Center, as my PS3, PS2 and DirecTV DVR are all black.

Ehh, how much did you pay for the 16gb flash drive? If you use one that isn't sold by MS, do you have to format the drive?

You can pick up a 16gb flash drive for around 20-25 bucks. I'm probably going to get one of these 4gb models this week.

They have them at Costco for $40. That's where we get them for my office.

LOL no, we were talking about 16 GB flash drives.

Do HDD's from non-Elite 360's work with the Elite? I need to pick up a 120 GB HDD, the flash stuff not cutting it for 2K11 is annoying me.

Looks like you can find them for under $50 on eBay, just want to make sure I'm getting a compatible one.

They do not work unless you take apart the casing off of the old HDD. Once you take the casing off, you can insert the HDD into the system. The problem is then the HDD does not have support and will wiggle around when the system is moved around. I was watching a video of this, it is a bitch to put in and even bigger one to pull out once in there where you can ruin the board. That is why MS built this thing with its own proprietary casing so people could spend the $129 on another HDD.

So can I only have an internal HDD with the Elite 4 GB or can I still purchase an Elite HDD and snap it into the side of the console?

                      Yeah, pretty much.

Option 1 - Add 2 USB's at 16gb each to get 32gb + the 3.2gb from the system memory. But replays will not function on 2K11, Halo Reach, etc.

Option 2 - Add 2 external HDD's at 16gb each to get 32gb + the 3.2gb from the system memory. Replays should work, but I never tried this.

Option 3 - Buy the official MS HDD for $129.

                      Option 4 - Read below

If you just bought the 360 from a place that accept full refund returns (eg. Best Buy, Target, Wal-mart), you might be best to return it for the 250gb imo. I love the look of the 4GB over the 250GB gloss look, but that is just me. I would recommend trying to exchange it for the bigger HDD 360 to save some money, unless if you have the extra cash laying around..........or some trade-in's, get the HDD and plug it in and call it a day.

I would personally suggest exchanging for the 250gb 360 as well. I mean, think about it... $240 for 16gb worth of flash memory that doesn't even work for most games, or $299 for 250gb worth of internal HD memory that is guaranteed to work with everything.

It certainly seems like a pretty obvious choice to me...

Unfortunately I got it at Gamestop so I don't know if I can return it. Tonight I'll try using my 80 GB HDD to see if that works but I don't know if the 360 will like that it's over USB, maybe it has to be a SATA connection for the replays and such to work. I will never go over 16gb of space so if I can get my external drive to work I'll go with that. If not, I'll have to beg and plead with Gamestop.

I kind of want to return it anyway, the controller that came with it acts funky and every now and then in 2K11 it seems like the LS is stuck moving just slightly in the 2 o'clock direction.

DD, as of now I've still only spent $199 as I can get the 16 gb flash drives for free via work. That was my whole driver behind this transition, I thought I could pull it off for $200 even. I have the 80 GB HDD as my back up plan, hopefully that works tonight.

Call your Gamestop and tell them that you are having problems with the console.......fib a little bit. Tell them that you would prefer to spend the extra money to buy the 250gb system and if it is ok to do so. Sometimes you might run into a good person there willing to help.

Sorry to hear that, Ehh. I wouldn't see why you couldn't return the console to buy the more expensive model, especially if the controller isn't working right.

I think I'll just stick with my current 360 for now (don't have a ton of money anyway), and if I do decide to get another one, I'll just buck up and get the 250gb, even though I won't use nearly that much space.

Just bought a new XBOX(the Slim of course)and got 2 question:

                                1. I bought the 4GB, can I buy a separate HDD for this to increase the amount of space I have or am I stuck with the 4GB?

                                2. How in the world do you rip CDs on here? I made an Audio CD using Itunes and the XBOX will play the CD but it won't let me rip onto the XBOX. Is this because it's only 4GB and I don't have enough space or does have something to do with me making a CD using Itunes?
